Famke Janssen?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, what's the score with all these incidents people are sharing about their experience with meeting her? Is she really that bad? So glad I saved my money by giving her a miss if it's true!

Nope, not for me at least. She was very courteous and friendly at the autograph table and at the photo session. Some people might have had bad experiences but I didn't at all.

I only got a photo with her but I was left quite disappointed.

No touching, I'm fine with that (tbh I'm not good at touching other people so I totally get that) sitting on a stool I'm ok with that too (I also have read she has broken a rib so I do respect she still did the photos)

But what left me a little flat was the fact I went in gave her a big smile said hello, and I just got a sniff hello then straight at the camera and back out. No warmth or even a smile. It left me feeling more like a burden, usually I come out with a warm feeling but this time I felt more like a deer in the headlights it was over so quickly and was quite awkward.

That's my feelings about the photo expirence

I would quite like to leave my opinion. I was EXTREMELY disappointed. Nothing particularly happened thats made me want to comment.... but if we're paying all this money to meet someone then they should be courteous enough to engage with you.

I felt EXTREMELY uncomfortable the minute i was in the queue.... All the showmasters staff were warning everyone "No touching". I thought that was weird, cause I had went to 8 photoshoots prior to hers and didn't really understand. THEN we got taken in... and we seen her sitting next to her security on a chair. No one was allowed to make contact with her in the slightest.

It was my turn and i just ran beside her...leaving a fair distance and i said "hiiii" in quite an upbeat manner. and she just kinda turned her head slightly and said "hi" in a sort of... "Hurry the F Up" sorta tone.

I'm sorry Showmasters, if you knew about her terms & conditions prior to Saturday, then you should have stated the rules on the shop OR ELSE i wouldn't have bothered. This is a convention where fan girls and fan boys get to meet their idols and talk to them etc. Famke was not up for this in the slightest. :-(

I found her to be really nice, she is busy so you don't get long which is no different to other big guests. We exchanged pleasantries, she looked up and smiled etc which is more than some have done in the past.

Both my autograph and photograph experiences were bad. Have posted my detailed comments on another thread on the forum.

Won't post anything further as I'm still disappointed and £180 out of pocket from the experience. Don't exactly want to display my items now.

Will now know better for next time I guess.

In her Q&A session she mentioned that she had a broken rib, and she talked about how overwhelming the photo sessions were.

If anyone here has had a broken rib, they know just how painful it is - of course she didn't want anyone touching her, it would have been agonising! The fact that she managed to sit through the photos at all is something to be grateful for.

When I got her autograph, she was really nice. She was being rushed, but even though I only got the few seconds while she was signing my poster, she still made the effort to ask me how I was, thank me for coming to see her, and even compliment my outfit.

I was really impressed with her, and very glad I got to meet her.

Found the photo shoot quite like everybody else. But she spoke French to me at the autograph table and was very sweet.

Just a little bit disappointed so with the photo, but for the rest it was great for me :)

She should've just cancelled in my opinion. I'm sure people would be more understanding of a guest cancelling due to a broken rib instead of her turning up anyway just to get the money and giving the paying fans such an awful experience that will taint her perception and reputation. Poor show.

But she's an incredibly rare signer so imagine she didn't want to let her fans down. It's a shame people didn't know that was the reason before they met her.

She didn't want to disappoint her Fans by no-showing maybe?

Also as Inga has said, a broken rib is agony. Assuming she never had one either - she may have just underestimated what stress this was with her injury.

I cannot really defend the photo session but I'm a huge fan so she probably could have slapped me and I would still have been glad to meet her.

That said, albeit it quite quick due to the amount of people wanting to meet her, I did find her very warm and friendly at the autograph signing. She was also incredibly funny and open at the talk.

Appreciate I may be in the minority, but I am VERY glad she still attended. I do no disagree with the posts above though, definitely wins the most awkward photoshoot award.

She shouldn't even be attending the event with a broken rib to be fair, she should be resting up and recovering. That said I guess the lure of rinsing fans for £££s for 2 days must numb the pain better than morphine

Not saying I don't believe the broken rib, but I don't remember hearing her mention it during the talk, but I did think the sound was a bit up and down so probably missed it.

I do wish I'd known, maybe guests should provide in advance a list of photoshoot rules. If I'd known it would have been a strictly dont speak to her don't touch her thing I would have only bought one photo instead of two. As it is, I only used one of my photos and left the other because it would have been the same pic twice. Probably should have given it to someone else but I wasn't thinking. But that is a complete waste of almost £50 to me, so thats a shame. I'm not the richest person.

I've idolized her for many years, since the Faculty. I actually credit her with changing my attitude toward life at one point. Its still fun to say I've met her, but she ignored my hello and didn't acknowledge me at all. Oh well. Just wish I could get my unused ticket money back lol.

By contrast, Renner, who probably had a ton more to get through, took his time and pulled out a fun pose and chatted a little with me. Worlds apart, really.

She only mentioned it briefly, she said she was covered in bruises and had a broken rib. I don't think she wanted to turn it into a pity-party so she just moved the conversation on

Don't really know where to start with Famke as meeting her with a Diamond Pass was something of a mixed bag to say the least.

My top three female guests I have always wanted to meet were Gillian Anderson, Sigourney Weaver and Famke Janssen so as with Sigourney last year, I bought a Diamond Pass for Famke as the value was pretty good I thought: £170 = 2x autos (£45ea) + photoshoot (£45) + talk (£20) = £15 premium to guarantee meeting her. Not bad seeing as I wanted everything included.

Went and got 3 autos from her about 11am Saturday. It had a bit of a rushed feel, a certain panic in the motions of the crew is probably the best way to put it. I was grateful she obliged with my request for two in blue pen, and another in gold, Famke asking me if I wanted any with personalisations. On my last one I asked if she would put a line of dialogue from GoldenEye I wanted, she looked a little flustered and in retrospect the quote was a little long so she put an alternate that was probably better, but then put a REALLY rushed signature.

In the good column I greeted her, she said hello back but she didn't look like she enjoyed being there, in the bad column I gave her a compliment that was flat out blanked. And that was the total interaction. I have some autos from her previously on official merchandise she has been paid to do and the signatures she gave yesterday looked sloppy in comparison.

Anyway, when putting my autos away I saw I had smudged the gold one with quote(!) but I had a spare pic so paid for another auto in a different pen. I nearly didn't as I hadn't been bowled over by the first meeting with her minutes before. I went up to her the second time and said: "You know that one you kindly just did me with the great quote? Well I smudged it like an idiot" she was like "Oh no!" and really took her time to re-do it much more slowly. I thanked her again and told her this was a gift from my partner for my birthday and she very sincerely wished me a happy Birthday. So two very different interactions within the space of about 5mins.

However this second interaction was somewhat ruined at the end.... I will say that I am not normally much of a handshaker for hygiene reasons, but for whatever reason, maybe me just being instinctively grateful for her doing my pic and quote again, I extended my hand to shake hers whilst saying thanks. This was greeted with her bodyguard (standing over her the whole time) actually smacking my hand away, which was (insert swear word) appalling. There were no signs saying no handshakes, nobody telling you that either, why wouldn't an attendee maybe go to shake a guest's hand?

If she didn't want to shake hands then fair enough. Brent Spiner does fist bumps. Peter Dinklage didn't want to shake. I carry hand-sanitizer everywhere I go. I GET it. But for that minder to actually strike me, even if only my hand, is bang out of order and unfortunately says a lot about Famke if that is what she is happy for her staff to do. I would seriously suggest Showmasters take that feedback and do something with it.

Then I went for the AM photoshoot everyone is talking about...

I think we all should have known something was amiss when entering the booth we were all greeted with: "NO HANDSHAKES! NO ARMS AROUND! NO HUGGING! WE CAN MAKE IT LOOK LIKE YOU ARE TOUCHING, BUT NO TOUCHING WHATSOEVER!" Talk about a mood killer.

Famke was very static and on a stool, very icy and mannequin-like. I was happy to make the best of it, I got a nice Patrick Stewart photoshoot even with us both in chairs for some "fan distance" but the photo I got from Famke is without a doubt the worst I have ever had with any celeb at 8 years of Showmasters events. I got the same wince/grimace you can see on everyone else's photoshoots posted on the forum - it looks like she really did not want to be there and is a horrible momento of the experience.

Now, I've read a lot the last day or so about her mention of lack of sleep at her talk, or broken ribs or whatever. And you know what, I'm not buying it. It's not an excuse.

Why? Because I was in hospital Thursday, had to go home sick from work Friday and had the pleasure of a kidney stone Friday night. I got to London yesterday drained and worse for wear and SOMEHOW I managed to crack a smile at photoshoots, and somehow be pleasant whilst talking to guests and other fans I had never met. But I am forgetting two massive differences between Famke and I:

1) She is being paid to be there. Show up and put the effort in. It is disrespectful to every paying fan not to.

2) We're talking about a professional actress here, if you're not having fun, fake it. She should be expert. Not every celeb is an ace at the signing table, building rapport can be difficult with certain people, but to not even a smile at the photoshoots? Sorry, not acceptable. Seriously, check out the photo library when they're uploaded. Hilarious for all the wrong reasons! And will be very interesting to see if she was any better today.

I had a glance around her signing area later in the day and the signatures she was banging out at this point looked so bad and rushed, but there were times where she was sitting waiting for the next bunch of people to come to the desk. I don't get it. Mix in the fact they were blocking her off with some vertical banner thing and a security guard next to that, blocking anyone from seeing her or taking a poor distance shot of her at the table, and it made for a very bizarre experience.

For her talk at the end of the day, she seemed much more 'on-form', and whilst I didn't find it terribly engaging, it makes you wonder why she was so different earlier in the day. There did seem to be points where they were struggling for audience questions (the girl next to me got to ask 3!), says it all really when even your paying fans can't be bothered to get their hands in the air.

I know this has been a long one so thanks for reading if you have. I mentioned Sigourney and Gillian earlier, people with ENORMOUS fan followings, and you look back and realise not only how good they were at the time, but just how much better they are as guests overall when you have encounters like mine with Famke yesterday. So am I glad I met her? Well I wouldn't have not met her. I got some nice autos from her but an awful photoshoot. Overall, disappointing.

I am so disappointed, I spent £46 on a photo, I'm unemployed, 20 and waiting to get back to college, that money is a huge deal to me, I've always admired her work so spending it for a photo with her was worth it. Now though I'm gutted, it was like a conveyor belt, photos were taken far too fast, she barely managed a hello and a photo before the security rushed me on and honestly it looks like a photo with a wax work! Absolutely gutted 😭😭

Well I had a photo with Famke this afternoon and have mixed feelings. Famke was smiling and speaking to people this afternoon but the "stay behind the white line and don't touch her" rule was still enforced.

I was thinking of maybe asking her if we each could do a mind reading pose (fingers on our temples, no need to touch each other) but the crew made it very rushed, in and out.

The photo is ok but a little awkward. I gotta say though, she was pleasant enough at the signing desk.

Not long come out of the photo shoot myself. Much like a lot of others on here, I'm regretting spending the money. It was literally like having a photograph with a robot.

Every other guest has been faultless this weekend. I can appreciate if she's gotten a broken rib, but not even acknowledging people is out of order. If she wasn't up to the "job" then she shouldn't have taken the gig. If she was that uncomfortable then she should have cancelled. I'm assuming film productions wouldn't expect her to act in this manner, and at the end of the day, this is simply another gig, and so should have been dealt with in the same manner.

Massively disappointing

That's pretty much how most diamond guests go. Last year it was MJF and the year before Stan. You get 5 seconds at the most with a photo, you get a bit longer with a auto.

Hi.. was it yourself that gave me and my husband a VQ ticket for Mads? If so, thanks again. We got it straight away!!! Was fab. If not, you have had a similat experience with the hand being slapped away by the bodyguard.

I have to say that I had the same experience as TrinityKiller24. She was smiling at the autograph table and asked how I wanted things signed and as I was leaving she said have a "A Nice Day".
