The only guests that have been announced on the forum or on the main site page are Camille Coduri, Richard Franklin and Katy Manning, but they're not on this list, whereas Colin, Deborah, Nicola and Jemma are on this one. Is this a mix up or have the guests been changed?

This was a copy and paste error from our Cardiff event. Our apologies! :)

London is the flagship hence why it gets the really big names. The smaller events may be too small to justify a really expensive guest.

But if we got bigger guests then probably more fans will turn up therefore making the event bigger

But if they get the bigger guest and not enough people show up then SM will make a loss. It's taken a long time for the London show to grow to the size it is now to allow for the bigger guests to attend. As long as people keep supporting the smaller shows they may be able to grow over time to be similar to London, but it's not something that can just happen over night.

Can I ask that we please do not make this another "I don't like the guest list" and/or "this event deserves bigger guests" topic?

Raylenth and Wrong Name have explained the situation really well already. First and foremost, events take time to grow. When good guests will become available for one of the events that are currently being grown of course it does not mean they will not be booked because it's a smaller event - see the first Brighton show which had quite a number of guests that got people complaining "bring them to London." Or Glasgow - we've gone through a number of similar "we want bigger guests" rounds there too and now Glasgow gets Sean Astin which has already prompted a lot of "why isn't he in London?" comments too.

Still it is really not as easy as "bring big guests and people will come." Take the first Manchester events 10 years ago for example. They had some great guests. Among them was Miranda Otto for example who had not appeared at another SM event anywhere. Still the event was stopped for a really long time because the numbers were just not adding up.

No worries, I (and the other mods too) totally understand that everyone is especially passionate about their local event.

The thing is, we keep getting these topics like a dozen times per event nowadays. For some others it's become a running gag that the mods have to stop and close these. I really just want to avoid another repeat. ;)
