Share those surreal moments you just couldn't make up

Recommended Posts

On Saturday to get from the 1st floor to the 3rd me & a small group had to jump in a lift that was going down to the ground floor before heading back up. The lift doors open on the ground floor & in steps Kristian Nairn. Big man, known face, small lift, little space equals instant silence. As the doors close & the lift heads up a small voice from the back whispers "Hodor".

A first class had to be there moment.

amazing!

MJF commenting on my band tee and had (very brief) chat with him as it turned out we both like the band. It wasn't too lengthy so didn't cause anyone issues and he started the conversation. For me to have a band convo with one of favourite film stars was amazing.

I also bumped into Christopher Lloyd on the stairway and he said hello.

Out of curiosity, which band? :poki: Big music fan myself

wandering around with my friend and i spotted a heisenberg cosplayer. i asked for a photo, to which he kindly obliged, and then after i said thank you he threw a bag of 'crystal meth' at me!

also, not so much surreal but very funny; michael traynor photobombing my friend's picture with steve coulter was class!

Surreal in a good way: Rose and her crew member were a little confused over where Rose was supposed to be signing on Sunday morning, so I stepped in and helped explain to them how to get to the 3rd floor. An extra 30 seconds with Rose Leslie and that infectious smile...never a bad thing

Surreal in a bad way: Sigourney's bodyguard. Level 3 at about 1:30pm on Sunday. He was trying to escort Sigourney through the crowds (totally fine). However, he very intentionally elbowed me in the face quite hard. This was annoying for 2 reasons...1) I wasn't actually in the way of where he was trying to go. I was adjacent to it (and wasn't actually aware that he and Sigourney were next to me). 2) His elbow was level with my upper arm. The fact that his elbow connected with my face seemed intentional and more than simply trying to get through...where, once again, I wasn't actually blocking his way :WINCE:

So my friend and I were standing on level 3 waiting for the elevator. *Ding* The doors open and, to our surprise and amazement, Iain Glen walks out and we immediately stopped our conversation and just watched in awe. I know he's human, but he (or any guest for that matter) was the last person we expected to see walk out of the elevator, and it caught us completely off guard as we just stared. Quite embarrassing, but awesome at the same time.

The other amazing moment was having a long chat with Will Simpson about taking a chance with your work and getting a job in our respective creative fields. He was really humble and funny guy, and spoke a lot of sense. I will definitely start sharing my work more and not get discouraged.

Not guest related, but my most WTF? moment of the day. Looking back across the queue waiting to go in and spotting a guy about 30 people back we spent a weekend chatting to at a hotel at a motor-race in April. At no point that weekend had we mentioned anything comic con related so it was a total surprise.

Naturally we bumped into him a few more times inside the venue. Talk about a small world!

I thought it was pretty awesome how I was able to meet an author I really like (Lucy Saxon), who was dressed as one of my favourite characters (Zelda) and I was able to spend 20 minutes talking to her. She even told me details about her next book.

Suddenly hearing a voice in the dealers area say "I haven't seen you in a while" and when I turned around cause that voice sounded familiar having Alexis Cruz from Stargate walking up to me and giving me a hug.

He's stalking you now then?

Sorry for late response.

The band is Sonic Youth - they've got a track on The Frighteners

My surreal moment was when I realised Christopher Lloyd was walking towards me on Saturday afternoon. I presume he was on his way to a photo-shoot at the time. I really wanted to say hello to him but I thought better of it as I thought it best not to attract attention to him.

There were a few for me

1- bumping in to Robert Englund and him saying how he can't find his photoshoot area first thing on Friday

2- Me looking lost in a random corridor and a guy dressed as daredevil showing me which way to go, as I walked off he shouted 'I'm blind yet can still find my way around better than you'

3- getting in a lift with Animal and Brutus Beefcake on their way to a photoshoot and Brutus making fart noises in the lift to make everyone laugh.

I bloody love comic con

Realizing you have your eyes closed THE MOMENT THE CAMERA FLASHES and then be hurried back,

telling Rose Leslie what has happened,

being pulled into a tight hug by the lovely Rose,

and having a much better result.

Surreal. Btw. Rose, you had me at "hi, how're you!"

I was walking around on the 1st floor and me and my sister notice a short man with a mask on in front of us. We are both HUGE wrestling fans and I turn to my sister and I'm like 'Is that Rey Mysterio?' She looks at him and then back to me and omg we were so happy! The crew lady he was with was walking in front of him and we got to a really crowded area and she went one way and Rey another. She turned around to check on him and she lost him but we saw where he went and quickly got them both back together! Another great moment was when I was sitting on the 1st floor just outside the cafe (by the American food stand) and I look up and Colin Baker is standing right next to me.

Also Daniel Portman remembered me from last year!:blush::blush:
