jhw I'll tell my mum, she is so excited about going to the event as Sherlock in general is a love we both share unlike my love for Moriarty who she finds creepy. We both get a photo op with Andrew as part of our silver ticket so I went a little crazy that morning fangirling but it will be interesting when she has to meet him, I am sure Andrew will win her over though as he is such a lovely guy. I met him at the stage door when I saw him in Birdland, got a photo and autograph so I am looking forward to seeing him again.

It wasn't a critisism Maggie, I just wanted to let Sarzy know you wouldn't be able to provide an answer

No offence taken!

I apologised as I take the same view as Galahad in "Kingsman: The Secret Service"...... manners maketh man.

This will be my first ever convention, so the whole experience is new to me. As a woman in her early forties who doesn't really do the fandom thing, I fear I might be a bit out of place! I'm coming on a platinum package, as I didn't want to miss out on anything, and I have a friend coming on a weekend pass, who has bought a couple of tickets for talks and photos, but it does mean I shall be doing lots of things on my own. So I'm hoping to meet lots of other Sherlock fans, and really immerse myself in the world of Sherlock that I love so much. I'm very excited by all the talks, and the opportunity to meet some of the people who inhabit the characters of whom I am so fond, and especially the behind-the-scenes geniuses who make the films look so delicious. Arwel Wyn Jones is my hero!

You certainly won't be out of place Pink Lady - I'm *cough* 39 ish soon (the weekend of Sherlocked actually so best birthday present to me ever! ) and there will be plenty of people there like us.

All you really need to remember is comfy clothing and shoes, water and be aware of where you need to be and when. The crew are all lovely people so if you are unsure of anything at the event ask one of them and you'll be fine.

We will all have a brilliant time

Well I'm in my mid forties and I do the fandom thing. I'm on my own and have a platinum package too. So when you're apart from your friend, you can come find me!

I'm also mid forties too so you're def not alone in this. I've just sent off a request to upgrade again to Platinum this time as I got a lovely end of year bonus just in time :) I'm hoping to meet up with people as well to make the weekend very exciting as to be able to discuss all things Sherlock with like minded people will make a nice change. :)

Thanks for being so welcoming, all of you! Maybe we should all arrange to meet up: I'm hoping to make some new friends at the Friday night party, so I hope you'll all be there too!

Definately!

I have to admit I threw a bit of a tantrum about Martin, but honestly when I got to mentally listing everything I have to do during this week in London, I immediately got overwhelmed. Now I'm almost thankful that Martin isn't going so I won't be wasting any time fangirling.

I grew up never travelling, so as I get progress through life, I've been a little more adventurous despite the lack of funds. I'm definitely prone to get a little culture shock at some point being by myself.

I'm glad to see you some others coming over from North America!

I've been over to Star Trek and Star Wars Conventions in the USA and always found everyone to be friendly and welcoming, so I hope we can be just the same when you come over to attend Sherlock and visit London. The great thing is we already have something in common because we all love Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock, so its fantastic that events like these bring people together with similar interests from all over the World.

Guys--honestly don't worry about age differences. I've been hanging out with 30-50 year olds since I was 14 in various fan meetups! (Now I'm 28) It just doesn't matter when there's a celebration to be had. I'm actually a little sad my 60+ parents aren't able to travel since they love the show, too.

We should definitely arrange some form of meetup for those of us frequenting this board. (Maybe thurs?) I'll let a local fellow or lady hammer out details since I don't know locations, ideas or the like.

I won't be arriving in London till the Friday afternoon, in time for registration and the preview, so I won't get to see you all till then. But we could meet at the preview, maybe, if you're all planning to look round on the Friday evening? I'm hoping to get a good look at the exhibitions, as I think the weekend is going to be a bit frantic!

Yes I totally agree-- I might have some some pics scheduled for Friday, but (I lied, no pics Fri.) I'm definitely for it! I am going to have my face glued to the History of Jawn exhibit.

I'm going to get pictures of the sets and other displays on Friday night too. We'll never get near them on Saturday

Can I suggest that we all meet up by the John Watson display? If you have posted a message on this thread, what do you think? The more the merrier?

I was thinking of planning a meet-up on Thursday for people who come in a bit early for the convention. I thought we could all meet at Speedy's and then head out on the tube to various Sherlock filming locations. If anyone is interested?

I don't arrive into London until 2pm so I'll probably be about after registration so am happy to loiter with intent around the Watson exhibit. :) I do need to find somewhere to grab some dinner before heading to the party later too.

There's plenty of places to eat in the immediate area, and a good variety to suit most tastes. There's food outlets within the ExCel centre itself too but they may only open during the main events, I don't know if they'd be open for the registration/preview times.

Hello all, I will be there by myself, so more than happy for anyone to say hello, meet up etc. I am planning on doing as many talks, photos etc during the day and then the parties in the evening and finding food before! I have to travel in and back each day (about an hour each way) so will hopefully be around till about 11, considering getting a hotel but living reasonably close I don't know if I should bother!

I can not do the Thursday :( work won't let me have it of. I am off on Friday so can come down early. See you all there.
