This is a unique opportunity to meet the people behind The Dandy, hear them talk about their experiences working on the comic and see some of the rarities from the weekly s history.

 

To celebrate the anniversary and to tie-in with the final print issue of the iconic DC Thomson comic, Showmasters is hosting a special edition of its quarterly ABC Show.

 

In attendance sketching, talkiung and signing will be such contemporary Dandy artists as:

Copies of The Dandy Special Collectors Edition – a reprint of the very first issue – will be available for purchase.

On display will be original artwork from The Dandy from the 1930s to the 1960s as well as issues of The Dandy from across the decades.

 

London’s Cartoon Museum will be on hand with special DC Thomson-related offers and more!

 

BONUS: A host of dealers will be offering comics and memorabilia from DC Thomson and across the wide range of British comics in general.

Hunt Emerson http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunt_Emerson "The Beano. At the moment he is drawing Ratz for The Beano, a strip about mean rats in a sewer. In 2002-2007, he drew Little Plum for that comic. In March 2009, after great work on both of the strips, he was picked as the artist for The Beano's revival of Fred's Bed. However, this version was viewed weird-looking by some people, and it has to be said the strip lost some of its humour and originality. This could be the reason why he left the strip in November, leaving Tom Paterson to become the artist."

 

Laura Howell http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_Howell "She is the first female artist in the history of The Beano comic, and responsible for "Johnny Bean from Happy Bunny Green", "Les Pretend" and Beano Manga.^[1] She also drew Billy the Cat in the Special 70 Years Beano, and two Minnie the Minx strips in the same comic."

He began freelancing for The Beano in 2007, drawing a Fred's Bed story for the Christmas issue and a one-off Ivy the Terrible strip for an issue in 2008. In October 2008 Stringer became the artist on a new strip, Super School which is about five superhero children and their non-superpowered teacher. He started drawing for The Dandy after its revamp in October 2010, providing the illustrations for Postman Prat and Kid Cops and writing and drawing The Dark Newt.

He currently draws Rasher for The Beano's Funsize Funnies."
