What do YOU look for at LFCC stands?

Recommended Posts

This is my first post so I thought I'd chuck in a big hello before I start!

This topic is all about the kind of things people look for at LFCC. I ask as I am exhibiting this year (first time, real nervous!) and want to gather as much information on what kind of products/services appeal to people so I can tailor my stand for to suit you!

My worst fear (and I think everyone's) is that people would just walk by without having a browse so I thought I'd ask the question, to avoid this!

I'd really just like some input from LFCC attendee's so I can ensure I'm catering for your needs come July!

So people, please tell me what would you be looking for? :)

If I'm honest, the only thing I ever want from a stall is for it to be affordable.

Sounds silly I know, but I love looking round the stalls and I'd purchase so many different things, but not enough stalls offer competitive pricing.

I don't mind paying a pound or two over Internet prices, but if I know it's something I can get for half the price elsewhere then I won't impulse buy.

Or perhaps something that isn't available online and that's exclusive to the event would be interesting.

I agree with DavidB here, I'm not likely to buy anything if I know I can find it cheaper elsewhere, so definitely, affordable prices are a must.

I am a bit of an impulse buyer, but I'm not one to regret buying the items I've bought if the items are a decent price.

I never look for anything in particular, but if something catches my eye, and doesn't cut into my budget too much, then I'll buy it. Last year, I only bought one item from a stall, and that was only a fiver. And I think that's a shame as there was so much on all the stalls that I thought was great.

What are you exhibiting? Presumably, you had something in mind before acquiring a stall? :D

Sorry, I got to put the mod hat on for a moment. :D Stall holders can't advertise here. With this question we are reaching the tricky territory.

@ iamamiwhoami: As long as this stays a general question from a stall holder the topic will remain open. But please don't go into more details about what you are already selling. Thanks a lot!

Usually end up buying things i've thought about buying before but never had the impulse to buy it until I see it 'in person' - or unique merch that is either custom/different or not something I woulda thought of.

Bargains is a definite one - I remember one year I bought a massive official Dopey plush from a Disney stall for a mere five pounds - considering the smaller ones go for that, it was a bargain!

I don't see how I can answer this question then. There's no point in telling you I would like Firefly memorabilia if you specialise in 8x10s or vintage toys.

I think sensible prices is a key point. Having paid for entry I resent being charged over the top prices for items that can be relatively easily purchased in high street shops, and believe me I've seen this happen far too often!

I'm always on the look out for anything Catwoman related, (surprise surprise) back in 1993 I saw a Catwoman figure in the shops and since then I've been on a faux quest to find it, so far have been unable to find it.

At one of the first Showmaster cons I went to I saw one of those very detailed Catwoman busts and was very tempted to buy it - sometimes I do buy things on impulse and glad I didnt buy it now.

Theres all kinds of things that catches my eye, its always nice to see vintage Star Wars stuff, Muppets etc.

I'm sure I've forgotten stuff but it will come to me if it needs to :)

Good question.

Personally I would say sensible prices and items suitable for signing that relate to the guests appearing at the event.

Yes! also, I like to see indie films a bit more represented/the lesser known geeky things. Not the same old star wars/star trek etc stuff. basically anything a bit different!

I like old stuff that isn't widely available, for example I buy a lot of Buffy merch from its early days on TV as I was only like 8 when it started.

I also like magazines, I buy a lot of the subscriber SFX issues off ebay and I like to buy Buffy magazines and old Sci Fi magazines with shows and films that interest me in them but they have to be reasonably priced. If I can get them super cheap I end up buying loads haha

I always buy pin badges of different sizes and from various fandoms. At each con I end up buying at least three. I also like good deals. You know "buy 3, get 1 for free" and so on. Sometimes I buy autographs as well, but they musn't be overprized. At the last Chevron I was drooling over Stargate related jewelery, for example (I didn't buy it at the end, run out of money).
