I was posted to Kirton Lindsay for basic training and then to Swanton Morley for AEO training. After 12 months at Swanton was posted to Wadding ton to do the Vulcan B Mk1 course. then posted to the staff of the OCU for the next 4 years as an instructor. During this time he was teaching pilot and navs aircraft electrics and also converted to the Mk2. In Sep62 I was crewed up with Dick Haven and posted to 12Sqn which was reforming with Vulcan B Mk2 at RAF Coningsby. In 1962 12 Sqn operate eight Avro Vulcan V-bombers, initially from RAF Coningsby then RAF Cottesmore equipped with Yellow Sun one megaton free-fall strategic nuclear bombs for medium to high altitude release. total service time was 8yrs and left with the rank of FLT.LT.
