danvader123@hotmail.co.uk
This October, the Universal Monsters return to the pegs of a toy store near you, courtesy of Diamond Select Toys. Your favorite fiends will be released in all new, completely original lines from the MEGO-esque retro cloth series to your basic action figure format to the little, itty bitty block figures known as Minimates. Here's a quick rundown of what is on the way along with some new in package pictures of the basic action figure line as well as the Minimate 4 pack figure sets. Let's start with Minimates. Two 4 packs are on the way with two central themes. Creature from the Black Lagoon pack contains The Creature in classic colors and a Glow-in-the-Dark version, Dr. Reed with diving gear and Kay Lawrence, the damsel in distress! The Wolf Man pack consists of The Wolf Man himself, the Wolf Man mid-transformation, Larry Talbot in human form and the feme fatale Gwen Conliffe. Each Minimates pack comes with interchangeable parts and accessories! These should retail for around $15.99. The basic action figure line come packed with 1 figure and a small base. On tap will be The Mummy, The Wolf Man and The Creature from the Black Lagoon, available only at Toys R Us. If you love the basic Wolf Man figure and think it would look killer in Silver Screen Black and White, hit up Entertainment Earth for their exclusive version of the figure. Deluxe versions of the Universal crew will be available online with a 7 inch Creature action figure menacing a lady in distress and The Mummy with his sarcophagus. Diamond Select Toys are also releasing Mego like Retro Action Figures kicking things off with The Wolfman and Frankenstein. The plan as of the February International Toy Fair in New York City was to release a wave of these baddies once a year in October. Of course if this line proves wildly popular, this might change!www.bloodydisgusting.com Check out all the imagery below.
