chris_mk
Great thanks cant wait for it to start have you heard that the Syfy channel in america are going to remake it ? Could have sworn I replied to this already! Yes, I've heard about the US remake, but to be honest, I'm not as frothing at the mouth about it as some of the fans. I agree totally with Toby Whithouse's comments that were posted on SFX, following an interview they did with him (see below) http://www.sfx.co.uk/page/sfx?entry=upate_being_human_usa
TerraHawk
You did. I'm assuming it went as theres a link to something else on that site, and it happens the same weekend too.....

stace
I'd love to come to this event but since I'm a student I can just about afford to go to collectormania where im only meeting 3 guests. Its too expensive really as its a large chunk of our student loans - its the same with every event its not as bad for people who are full time employed. Im sure students would be a good target group for this event but its alot of money.
StarryKat
Why not approach the BBC? It's their show, see if they can do an advert on BBC3 before showing Season 2?
dreximgirl
I would imagine that because this is an unofficial event the BBC could not be seen to be endorsing it - at a guess D x
CosmicAvatar
Just got my latest SFX and I notice they're drawing attention to conventions up to April and Housebroken wasn't in it. Normally SM gets good representation, so looks like it's time to get in there - only a few months left! I'm sorry I can't make this one, but I really hope it succeeds. mybrightidea
Hi there, I hope you are able to run the event it sounds like it'll be good but the trouble is its just so expensive!! I'm on the blog and theres a lot of the big big fans who've been with the show since the start and absolutely love it and everyone knows about it but theres only a few who can really afford it. Its not that theres anything wrong with the event - it sounds amazing as do the guests but the price is just too steep :-S Also a lot of the fans went to the Mayhem festival on halloween where we got a preview of series 2, a q+a with the cast and producer and director and then met the cast and got autographs/pictures etc and that only cost 7 quid each and I think thats the bit that people are most bothered about - so after that I know a few people decided against the convention because they got the autographs/pictures without having to remortgage the house lol. I am still considering going to be honest just because I feel like I should - Ive never been to a "convention" or anything before but they sound quite good so despite the price I might end up coming :-P
mybrightidea
Just read through some of the previous posts and I agree that most of the fanbase "aren't the convention going type" lol most of us hadn't even signed up to a fan blog thing before - let alone go to conventions and stuff. Is there anyway of getting the price down? I think that really is the only issue as I said most of us arent really "convention-goers" so really we're being asked to fork out £70 for something where we dont really know what to expect :-S Oh and cant believe someone from America is actually flying over for this! That is pretty cool you must be dedicated :-D

That is pretty cool you must be dedicated :-D Hey there, welcome to the forum! I understand what you're saying about the price, but in fairness, £70 is incredibly cheap for a full weekend convention! I was at the event that you mentioned and whilst it was a lot of fun and cool to see the guests, you didn't really get much time with them and there was only a very limited time for the Q&A. At a full weekend event, you get an autograph off everyone (and at present there's 8 guests) and you get to spend a lot more time in talks, getting to know them. Usually, there's about 3 hours of talks each day, plus the opening ceremony and sometimes the guests hang out in the evenings (though this often depends on the behaviour of the fans!!) It's a far more involving event and also a great opportunity to meet other fans of the show and make some great fans (I met a lot of my best friends via conventions). The event you attended isn't really comparable to this one, it was a unique thing, sponsored by the BFI, which is how they managed to make it so cheap. I guess the only way Showmasters/Massive Events could make this event cheaper, would be if they applied to the BFI for funding as well (and I suspect that if they did and it was succesful, they'd be way more likely to spend the money on MORE guests and enhancing the event experience!) If there's anything else you'd like to know, just shout, there's a lot of people on here who have done many conventions! p.s. I don't work for Showmasters or Massive Events in any capacity, I'm just a fan of their events!

mybrightidea
Hi there - no there isnt an official forum to accompany the blog but if you look at all the comments its moslty us lot nattering lol we do try to be constructive...honest :-) I do understand they have to make their money - I just wanted to tell them that its not that they've done anything wrong it does sound brilliant - didnt want them feeling bad about it or anything because I know theres a lot of people who would love to go. The bafta thing was brilliant can't wait for the next one in January. Hopefully I might get to go to this convention too - if I win the lottery I might even get a silver one and go for the photos and stuff too hehe :-) Oh and thanks for the offer of answering questions :-) I really dont know what Im talking about to be honest the only things I've been to was the mayhem thing on Halloween and 1 book signing last month - so I'm pretty knew to the whole mega fan thing :-P I want to work in TV you see so spend quite a bit of time on sets trying to be professional and doing as I'm told - it's always felt odd being on the other side of it but recently I've just thought why not?! :-)
