I voted for Gina, Marc Blucas and Lindsey Crouse. Mainly cause I have never met them and Marc and Lindsey are the only real redeeming feature of the whole of S4 of Buffy (in my opinion). I don't think Amber's character really bloomed until S5.

S4 was the redeeming feature of S4, IMO! It's my favourite season  I hated it the first time I watched it, but when I did my S1-S7 Buffy marathon, S4 stood out for, surprisingly, all the right reasons.

Maybe I should give it another go, it has been some time since I have watched that particular series.

I decided I didn't like S4 because S3 was so awesome. Therefore anything following that was always gonna feel a little sub-par in my eyes.

On the whole, S4 does have some really good stuff, but I don't think I liked the main storyline.

S4 was all about growing up, I must say i loved The High School Years but going to college was always inevitable unless you were going to do a show with 30 year olds still in high School for like 7 years would never work. We had Hush in Season 4 which should have got an Emmy but then i guess we also had one or two not so good (Beer Bad), although i thought it was pretty funny, but then in 144 eps there were bound to be one or two "bad eggs" - but not many in 7 years as the writing was so good and there were underlying issues in everything it wasnt all about monsters and vampires it was about life.

Considering his ties elsewhere, I'd be very surprised if he was considered.

David...

Is this not going to be an issue with alot of the Jossverse guests then... esp the Firefly ones, considering who was stood with them all weekend at MK.....

I wouldn't use the word 'issue' - if he was there at the weekend, then clearly there's some vaguely happy relationship existing .. hence why advertising for 'elsewhere' is on ME websites and there were flyers at MK.

But I just thought JW tends to go elsewhere even if he's not really relevant to what the con is about :D

Woah, that's a rather huge assumption going on right there!!

My apologies; I thought I'd edited my post immediately afterwards to say "Like most Buffy/Angel fans who have been going to events in the UK for a number of years", but I must have just hit 'edit' and not changed anything!

So regardless of another company having covered Buffy and Angel for a good amount of time

I just want to point out that I was not referring simply to one organiser, as the moderators of this forum often presume that I am (not saying you were in this instance.) I've been going to Buffy/Angel conventions and events since 2001 and have met guests from those shows at the events of eight different organisers, and that is what I was referring to.

I hope this event sells really well and Showmasters manage to get some guests that I haven't already met, as I'd love to go, but there was a Buffy/Angel convention earlier this year that only had a small number of attendees so I fear the fanbase is dying out of attending conventions. The show was cancelled five years ago, and even my enthusiasm isn't what it used to be (time was I'd travel to meet any minor guest, and now I wouldn't go unless they were a regular.)

However Showmasters has a much larger core group of attendees than any other organiser I know in the UK, so hopefully this event will pull in enough attendees to get some of those 'rare' guests over!

Can i say Buffy was not cancelled it was their choice to stop after 7 years. Angel was cancelled by the network despite the huge fan response to save it along with Firefly unfortunately - more fool the network!

I also have been going to cons for a number of years and still go to every event & I actually believe there are a lot of new fans/con goers around certainly in the last couple of years which is great and judging by the response to the reunion in LA in march where $40 tickets were selling for like $3500 i would say the fandom is still here.

This year there has been a call already for a European buffy convention which was posted on most forums and indeed on the poll on here asking for a convention outweighed all other votes too.

The Gift episode was voted no 1 (finally) by the Emmys recently too.

If you go to any Showmasters Event the guests are always very popular, one of the first threads when any new event is announced seems to be "where are the buffy guests" and as to the other event you were referring (which i did go to) this was only ever meant to be small anyway as the hotel could not cope with anything more and a lot of new fans went to that as well that i spoke to.

As far a i can see a lot of fans have already signed up for tickets for Hallowhedon, i myself have persuaded 12 people to book (mainly gold) and you will find the hotel is already very full with a year to go so i think this is going to sell well. fingers crossed.

Im really looking foward to the con. I never managed to be able to get to any of the solo Buffy/Angel events back in the day as i was alot younger. I was going to go to the european DB event in Brighton but again at that time the prices were way too high.

Thats why for this event ill be happy with whatever guests SM can get, since nearly every cast member of buffy/angel/firefly i would love to meet, thats why im thinking of going gold. The only person from the WhedonUniverse ive met is Tony Head and he was awesome!

Even at the possibilty that they could get one of those 5 main guests is awesome! Cant wait for the event!

On the whole, S4 does have some really good stuff, but I don't think I liked the main storyline.

I think in the end S5 was probably one of my favourite series mainly due to Glory, Dawn was the most annoying in this season. However, S2 comes in at a close second, the whole Buffy/Angel relationship I thought was a great storyline especially once we got to see Angelus!

S4 was all about growing up, I must say i loved The High School Years but going to college was always inevitable unless you were going to do a show with 30 year olds still in high School for like 7 years would never work. This is very true, Hush is one of my all time favourite stories. The other fav from S4 would be the finale, Restless (I think), I just think this was so well written with the messages that were trying to be conveyed about the characters. The character with the cheese was a great addition!

Hi

I'm new to this. Little bit scared bout the con as i'm going all the way to Heathrow from Manchester on my own. Really looking forward to it though and have my gold ticket bought.

Been to a couple of cons in Blackpool and some Collectormania shows.

Really hoping that Aly can come. Almost met her a few years ago- managed to wave through a taxi window.

Wouldn't mind meeting Nathan "tightpants" fillion either. I guess it would be nice to meet most people though.

Hi Willow99, My girlfriend and I are considering getting booked up for thie event and we will also be travelling from Manc to Heathrow, we could always offer you a lift to help spread the cost of fuel? unless you were planning on flying down haha I've not looked into travel yet I'm not sure which is cheapest. Will be in touch when we know for definate if we are going. ;)

Don't worry - loads of people arrive at a con like this and end up with 20 new friends by the end of the weekend. It will be the first and last con you ever go to own your own! LOL

This poll is showing some interesting results... I never realised that Marc Blucas would be THAT popular!

would definately be nice to have some convention going Whedoverse friends.

Marc Blucas is pretty good looking- watched The Jane Austen Book Club cos he's in it. i'll admit to being a little sad.

the only prob with the poll is that there are so many people i'd like to meet!

people i've met:

James Marsters (the first i ever met- managed to squeak a few syllable at him and my other half had to translate!), Juliette Landau, Julie Benz, Vincent Kartheiser, keith sarabhajka (did anyone else notice him in The Dark Knight?), Mark Lutz, Andy Hallett, Tamara Gorski, Dayne Johnson, Alexis Denisof (twice- once in London watching Aly in When Harry Met Sally), J August Richards, Nicole Bilderback, Claire Kramer, Elizabeth Harnois, Robert Leeshock, Laura Betram, Armin Shirmerman and his wife Kitty, Jewel Staite, Christian Kane, Steve Carlson, Amber Benson, Anthony Head, Emma Caulfield, Matthew Lewis, Dirk Benedict, Dwight Schultz......phew didn't realise it was that many and there are a couple more that i can't remember just now.
