I know Collectormania has just finished, but with just over two weeks to go will there be anymore guests?

Ok so there are 22 so far, but 10 are repeats from last year.

I have every confidence in Mark, so can we expect a stream of announcements soon.

Hope so, I think at last count there was something like six guests who will be there on Saturday morning!

I hate to keep carping on about the same things but it would even help if more of the guests were going to be there for the whole weekend or at least a few more for Saturday. Last time round the likes of Roger Hunt and Gordon Banks got there so late on the Saturday afternoon it all became a bit of a scramble to see them.

Hectic, but good memories though, as they still spent time chatting, making the experience of meeting your childhood heroes something you'll always remember.

I also share your concerns, at the moment it is a bit disappointing and I do worry about its longevity.

I'll still come to support the event, it's never exactly a chore to meet people like the 66 team or Peter Shilton, its just that I had hoped the second show would be an improvement on the first. Even the forum this time round seems to be dying a bit of a death (aside from the occasional inter tribal conflict of course!)

Still like you said theres still a few weeks to go so who knows what they can pull out of the bag! Aside from my usual request for Liverpool players I'd like to see some 66 squad members.

Has this event been advertised anywhere?

I feel it is lacking the hype that other SM shows seem to have but I appreciate not everyone is into sports.

I really hope there are going to be a few more guests annouced having seen the majority of this years at last years show.

C'mon one last massive name...

I am calm lol, it just gets sooo repetitive- it happens every show, so many times- regardless of how many guests there are... Its like people think that SM are hiding guests from them or something :S They'll do what they can . And as I said in the last thread (now deleted) Its a new show, and the last one was v small as well- it needs to just build up like all of the others have.

Hmmmmmm SM hiding guests, I bet thats what they are doing.

Somewhere in Bermondsey I bet SM have a lock up with people like Mark Hamill, The Sh@, Ian McKellan, Robbie Coltrane etc all under lock and key to stop them attending shows. Clearly SM are trying to bring down the whole convention scene from within, the swines.

To be serious though, I don't think its the size of the show thats dissapointed people this time round (although the scale of it is smaller, less guests, no photoshoots) it's the real lack of variety of the guests attending. I haven't directly compared the guest lists but the overwhelming majority who are attending this show attended last time as well. Not only that but in a lot of cases there has been an increase in prices for each guest which I don't think we've really seen for guests at other shows within a 12 month period.

All sounds like moaning I know, but I'm still coming along, there's nothing wrong with the guests that are there as such, especially for those that have not met them before, it's just not all that different for those of us that went to the last show!

I have attended every CM from number 4, all the LFCC and Sportsmania 1, I know how it works with guest announcements and no I don't think that SM are keeping anything from us.

But like Count Fooku said earlier this show, and even this forum, seems very quite, OK so there are 22 guests announced already, although 11 of them are repeats and the spread over the weekend seems very thin.

After the last show I think people were hoping that it was going to build on it's foundations, but it does not appear to be the case at the moment, I think if you did a poll on the show at present then I think you will find that most people are a bit disappointed.

Also, I have nothing but respect for SM and have never criticised what they do, as I think they do it well, but when you look at the other shows planned for later in the year they are getting, dare I say, a line up with few repeats, with the exception of the specialist conventions.

I for one hope that Sportsmania will take off in the same way as the CM's have done, as I would prefer to meet one of my sporting heroes from my childhood than a current TV star, but it's just that at the moment with this line up I am having great difficulty believing it.

Saying that I will be there again to meet Henry Cooper, the 66 Guys and especially Peter "the cat" Bonetti, as Chelsea are my team and have been since I was a kid in the early sixties. The football was better back then as most teams were a lot closer and it was probably four teams that wouldn't win the league rather than only four teams who are going to win the league.

Like I said I am not complaining, just hoping.
