gebes
Just been looking at trains to and from Milton Keynes Central. On the 1st and 2nd May, there's no problem at all, I can actually get a direct train to MK on those days... However, travelling home seems to be another issue altogether... On Monday 5th May, in order for me to get home, I have to get a bus to Luton, then get a train to St Pancras, walk to Kings cross and get on my train to Edinburgh there. I also tried booking as singles via Birmingham New Street, but to get to Birmingham New street on the 5th May, I have to Outward journey: Monday 5 May 2008 Station Arr Dep Travel by Service Provider MILTON KEYNES CENTRAL 12:55 Bus VIRGIN TRAINS LUTON 13:40 13:53 Train EAST MIDLANDS TRAINS LEICESTER 14:55 15:09 Train CROSSCOUNTRY BIRMINGHAM NEW STREET 16:09 Yet on the 6th May, there's direct trains that take just over the hour to Birmingham! Do any of the local people in Milton Keynes know of any planned line work that would cause the above delays?
crippsy_99
Im getting the same problems! Going there is fine, but coming home on the monday, it so doesnt want to happen! No trains seem to want to go to Birmingham at all except one, which will apparently take me 15 hours to get home (yes, 15!!), and theres only like 3 apparently going to london, one really early in the morning, and the other two late at night! Just to get even more confusing though, I looked at national express to london..no funfare tickets which leads me to believe they know somethings up with the trains, but for some reason MK to Victoria will take 2 hours..when I used to get the megabus, it only took an hour! Transport for that day looks a nightmare. Its like MK wants our souls for the rest of eternity!!
dufresne
Bit unfortunate - especially since they have just announced Linda Blair

Charmer
I'm lucky in that respect as I only live 25 minutes train ride away (in Berkhamsted). The worst for me is having to sit on a coach for an hour or so it trains aren't running.
Lena
I don't know if it has anything to do with it being a Bank Holiday, but it seems like trains are being fully booked or less services might be running on that day?
Charmer
It's to do with it being a Bank Holiday. There's always a "reduced service" on the trains each BH around here now. It's really annoying if you're going a long distance, not so bad if it's close by. Sunday's aren't much better either.
Springmaus
Our travel's going to be a nightmare. We're coming on the Saturday but we have to leave at 5.40 am and not arrive until 10am.....or stay over Friday night. But then coming back on Saturday, the only train is at 5.40pm. And that doesn't get home until 11 or something stupid. And to stay over another night, i just can't afford it. But I'll find a way. I'm NOT missing it

crippsy_99
I have work on the tuesday though Only got the whole week before off and they wont go for that tues off too lol Hmm..but it seems my only options for now is one train really late in the evening costing £50+ even with my railcard discount, or stay monday night, pay £30-odd, and hope I wasnt late in for work Puts the price of the weekend up a bit lol Sah, I used to sleep most of the time on the MB so cant remember for sure lol Edited February 13, 2008 by crippsy_99
surfy_sah
did you check tickets going via LONDON? for some reason, when I first searched Swansea to MK it said spend 3hours going to London, then get a tube accross London then get on a train from Euston to MK!! I always go via B'Ham so changed the search parameters but did you check that? put MK to Cardiff via London and see what it says failing that guess you could try NX? MK to London run rather reguarly (I just looked it up for Cher ) and then get train single from London to Cardiff? surfy sah xx
