Info about this is here- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fullmetal_Alchemist Okay i'm kinda rubbish at recommending stuff, what shows have you already seen? hiya123
Hehe...So you'll like anime from Shonen jump ^^ (All action anime ^^ ) Such as- Naruto Ultimate Muscle Dragonball Shaman King Also there's a few anime like Sailor Moon, such as- Tokyo Mew Mew Cardcaptor Sakura/Cardcaptors Magical Girl Pretty Sammy (a spin-off of Tenchi Muyo! ) and Full Moon wo sagas***e (quite depressing and happy at the same time...I was in tears by the end ^^; ) I hope you'll like a few ^^ EDIT- Oops! Full Moon wo sagash*te counts as swearing here ; Trust me it isn't, it translates to "Searching for the full moon" ^^; Edited October 7, 2007 by hiya123

Thundercrackler
HMV got tonnes of cheap anime movies and series box sets out the mo, try these ones... Ninja Scroll Appleseed Ghost in the Shell (both film and TV series) Paprika Highlander Virus Dead Leaves (so mental you will be in stitches) I can't guarantee these will all be to your tastes but if you have a varied outlook on anime, all of the above you should satisfy you. Legolassie Malfoy
I recommend all of the Studio Chilbi movies as they all showcase some amazing animation. I do recommend the following. For comedy, Excel Saga For action, Cowboy Beebop For Sci fi, Evangelion For Mecha fans, either Escaflown or Gundam For drama/ gothic action, Trinity Blood For Fantasy, Slayers
maegurwen
Martian successor nadesco has a good storyline and is a brilliant story with humour and the odd twist. The only bad thing about it is that the ending is so pridictable. Serial experimental lane is quirky, spooky, interesting, serious and a few other things. The last episode is actually a bit sad...so if you like happy endings...this isnt really a happy ending... Excel saga. I recomend this one. Even though its confusing on the odd occasion, it is funny and strange and you cant help but laugh. And then there is pani poni dash that ive started to watch. Its funny, the characters are weird...including the school rep who is too wierd. The teacher is only eleven/ten. Although im not sure what the story line is much in this...most of the storyline is fine till you get to episode 13 or 14.

dreximgirl
I'd say def try Cardcaptor Sakura, Fullmetal Alchemist and Death Note - they are all brilliant (though definitely watch the subs as the dubs are awful esp on Cardcaptor Sakura) Drex
Crow T. Robot
Although not on DVD here in th UK, I suggest checking out Megazone 23 Parts I and II. T'was one of the first OAV and the first one that was a huge success. Plus, it's believe that the Megazone series inspired The Matrix. There is a Part III, but it's not exactly highly thought of. Demonique
Tenchi Muyo Gurren Lagaan (it's not the full title but I can't remember the full title) Blue Gender Elfen Lied (it has a gorgeous opening sequence but is extremely violent - violence in the opening frames)

Sounds a little like pani poni dash, well it started off following each episode but then from the 5th volume onwards it got confusing!

PsnowConeLawliet
Detroit Metal City. Yeah, the eps are only 15 minutes long each, and it's practically so offensive it's funny - after all it's meant to be slightly comedic - and, well, if you're a death metal fan you'll like the music.
