Im kinda new to all this, so have no idea how conventions work, how you know when they are on, where they are, all the different types of conventions.... So much stuff I dont know where to start?! All the relevant information for each one can be found there. Give the 'Frequently Asked Questions' topics a read as they're a good starting point for any new people, and then if you're still confused about anything do feel free to ask after There'll often be other people that have asked the same things, so there's no harm in doing a search first or just looking around.
