im pleased everyone is happy. please look at my topics ive done in the past, ive been called everything. however im honest and i do admit to starting out this thread without being attacked 1st, so we can now say we are all evan.

Oh goody. Can I be Evan Dando then?

3rd october 2005- 5.37pm. please tell me if somebody refers to someone as a stalker, if that is an insult or not. read for yourself on my topic, that time and date.

Just read the link, and I wouldn't say it was an insult more of an astute observasion, how long were you watching the guest for again, was there nothing else to occupy your time?

Personally I'd have seen the "stalker" comment as light-hearted banter. Give your alleged history with davidb, I could understand you not construing it that way, but frankly, if you considered it an insult, you'd be better off forgetting it - bringing it up some 20 months later makes you look worryingly obsessed.

And even if it was an insult, it's hardly a weapons-grade one is it? Please avoid a career in architecture or or any form of painting that's supposed to be realistic, as you clearly have no frickin' sense of proportion.

The funny thing is, I could quite see myself, if I found myself with 45minutes to kill, sitting at a distance and watching Shatner dealing (or otherwise) with folks, and their reaction - people-watching can be fascinating, and a fun way to kill time. No, the weird thing about that other thread is how you used your 45 minutes idle observation plus a response from a crew member (who may well have been less than interested in your questioning) to state irrefutably that you knew exactly how Shatner had behaved towards every guest all weekend. That was the really eccentric bit to be polite about it.

you fetid scum-sucking coprophagic waste of a set of bodily organs? I can only assume that you've had your head shoved up your own fundament for so long that your view of the world is hopelessly obstructed by your own festering entrails, rendering you incapable of picking up anything but the most bland and simple of expressions.

(There you are, a free tutorial in insults for you - who said we don't care here? )

This is a great way to get a response or get loads of people posting. Personally I've been on the boards for a while now and joined up about a year ago and whilst it's not the friendliest board in the world - it's far to clicky, if you weren't here from the beginning or you don't go to every event then tough! It's not the most hostile either.

I agree with Indio to some extent - there are always people who will jump on every topic or defend SM no matter what, however this thread isn't really a mature way to deal with it. Afterall there are probably more people here to defend david (I have nothing against him myself) then to back you up.

Yes they do good shows, yes sometimes they cost too much, yes the guests they get are great, yes the time spent with guests isn't enough etc etc.

My biggest gripe at the moment is that after pulling out of one event SM are putting loads of SW guests into another which for people like me who have already shelled out for the first one really pi$$es me off (as I can't afford both) - anyway off topic.

I don't care what people call me and neither should anyone else so go ahead and do your worst!

Take It easy all, Darren

Awww I was waiting for that one ^_^

I like not to disappoint. :P

I don't care if it's clicky or not - most groups are but for somebody new who wants to come in (especially if they're young, low self esteem or just new to this sort of thing)- I'm not sure some of you guys would let them.

Wow.

What a way to make yourself really unpopular.

and dazzlerjames, it's not that if you weren't here from the beginning or don't go to every event then tough! It's just that people who have been here longer know each other better. I haven't been here from the beginning nor do I pretend I've been to every event that sms do, but I've never had any problems. Nor do I feel it's clicky.

And yea I admit that I'll jump at the chance to defend SMS because they do a lot of hard work. And it really frustrates me when people reply to guest announcements with negative comments. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean other people won't. And there are guests that will be announced that I don't want or care about but I appreciate that there will be people who'll be excited. So get over it, if you don't have something good to say don't say anything at all.

I personally think DB is a great guy who puts up with a lot of crap from you sorts of people, and he could just delete everything you say or ban you but he does not. He does a lot of work for this forum and if it wasn't for him you wouldn't be allowed to have your petty little posts.

And if he called me a stalker I'd be very happy.

it's far to clicky

Awww I was waiting for that one ^_^

We should make a checklist of accusations commonly made by forum members, and then in each argument we could tick them off ^_^

[x] Someone insults DavidB.

[x] A mention of how Christopher Lee/other guest was NEVER coming, and it's all a conspiracy.

[x] Cliques.

[x] Guest criticism.

[x] Something weird from Mr Stabby after he's not posted for AGES.

[x] Jason posting at a silly time in the morning.

[x] TommyT writing something really long/in depth/complicated/clever/etc.

[x] Someone makes a spelling mistake and it's used against them.

[x] A point for each long-term member (but no longer regular poster) turning up.

[x] DavidB says something sarcastic/long-winded/"insulting" (when it's really not damnit!).

I'm sure there's looooooooads more :D

And Kirsty - firstly, thank you ^_^ secondly, yep the 'clique' thing will always be explained and some people just won't accept that reasoning. I can say that there are plenty of people here who HAVEN'T been here from 'the beginning' or whatever, and yet they still talk loads on here/MSN/MySpace/at events and they're just fine. It just takes effort ^_^

And you are a stalker dear :P

As for 'criticism' - I often enter into 'discussions' with people, and that's fine. I like to see opinions of others but not in such a petty and pointless way like this topic. Feedback isn't just acceptable, it's essential but 'crap guest!' or similar doesn't really help.

Oh and if I was actually bothered by topics like this, I'd have stopped posting years ago. I've read better efforts I'm afraid.

I think you'd be surprised at how open some people are to the newbies

I'll be honest, I'm not one of them. I don't use the forum as much as I used to so I don't make any effort with newbies. I've got a good group of mates that I hang out with at the events and if that's seen as a 'clique' then that's fine. It honestly doesn't bother me. I'll be the first to admit that I'm awful with making new friends. But this forum isn't what it used to be. It used to be a lot more 'alive' and everyone was regularily posting on here. With the rise of myspace, livejournal, facebook and other socialising websites, this forum has died down.

But that doesn't mean some of us aren't willing to make the effort, it just takes a little longer to get to know people these days.

Plus we're a fussy old bunch, we appreciate the fine art of proper English. I cringe when some of these young'uns come on here and type everything in text speak and half in capitals. And I know there's other people who feel the same about that.

As for the rest of what you said earlier, regarding people who defend Showmasters, well I don't really have much of an opinion about that. I don't read the posts where people are slagging off Showmasters and their events. Or if I do, I don't respond. There's always gonna be something that upsets someone. Showmasters aren't perfect, they do their best and sometimes it doesn't work out. It's a shame when people are left disappointed for whatever reason but there's very little point in coming on here and slagging Showmasters off for it. I'm not saying you do but there are others who do just that. A bit of contructive criticism is fine and I'm sure appreciated because it helps Showmasters to make changes to avoid disappointment. But when a guest cancels or an event has to be cancelled, something which they can't fully control then what good is it telling them how angry you are about it? They know they're letting people down. So they try to rearrange guests and get them for a different event.

May I just say, this isn't a personal attack on you. This is just my opinion, which I didn't realise I had ^_^

And as for Indio creating this thread to just to tell David he's a jerk? Then pick other random people to question their usernames? It's brilliant. What does it achieve? Absolutely nothing. Well done to Indio for creating a thread that's given people a laugh. I wonder what his next trick will be ^_^

I'm not sure what my point is anymore, I've just ended up rambling because it's Monday and I'm bored.

When he says that, he means he has to discuss with me. I'm in charge really. You may all think it's David. But it's not. It's me ^_^

Depends where you're from clicky or cliquey!

Anyway like I said I don't really care one way or another. I have no intention of making friends (I'm a miserable old bu$$er!).

I don't react to SM announcements in a negative way either just for someone who said this earlier - I agree if you don't like the guest then don't go or don't see them - end of.

You will find that most of my comments are positive or pointless!!

I also agree with Kell that there is too much text speak - like I say I'm over 30 so don't understand half of it - it's made worse when it's done with caps lock on too!!

David - like I said I have nothing against you - I don't know you so have no right to judge whether you're a jerk or not!!

Anyway I thought this was about Indio!!

How about forming the over 30 anti text speak clique? We could all be miserable old gits together then

And why make it all about indio (no capitals, please)? It's far more fun without him :pyth:

Edited for spelling and punctuation - I'm not giving anyone the chance!

OK, two cliques then - one over 30s (for Meldrew like 'It wasn't like this in my day' moaning) and one for any age anti text speak?

As for the clicking, we'd end up sounding like that woman who trains dogs dressed in black with long boots - she advocates clicker training.

For spelling AGAIN. Obviously a fat finger Monday.

Trying to form your own clique you two?

That's not very nice :D

What about us under 30's who don't like text speak either?

Only if you're nice to me!!

If you went around clicking would you not sound like some giant insect thing from Men In Black!!

Anyway you can all fu$£ off over my spelling! ^_^
