Saturday at Collectormania

My views on what happened today...

Started queueing outside at 5am to get tickets to get Brandon Routh's autograph. Met some nice people in the queue and the staff when they appeared at 7.30am were really helpful and well informed. Thanks to 'Too Tall' for explaining the queueing process and what time we'd be allowed in the warm. They let us inside about 8am the the queue was properly controlled - no chaotic running around this time.

Got my ticket and joined the actual queue for the autograph. Brandon and was early arriving and really friendly - good on him at that time on a Saturday morning.

Don't live far away so headed home for a bit of sleep and returned for the Brandon photo shoot. Again a very well controlled queue, if long, to have my photo taken with Brandon. The Cosplay/fancy dress people get better every time. Two marines from the Alien movies with a chained Alien were patrolling the queue. A classic Superman was wandering around as were stormtroopers etc. Understandably quick photo but Brandon was still smiling.

Only slight disappointment was that the photos weren't ready to collect at the end of the day. Not a big deal for me as I can go back to get it tomorrow but I can imagine that some people are annoyed - although the staff did say they'd post photos to people if need be.

All in all a fun day and the best Collectormania yet. Looking forward to Collectormania 12 - can we have lots of people from heroes please?!

Today was amazing, first big collectormania (gmex ones I didnt really get into as much)

But I also had a gold pass so it was easy to get through everyone I wanted to in time.

I managed to get my Anthony Head pic but not James :whistling: gutted. I dont know how long I'm going to have to wait to get that.

Cant wait till the next one, well worth the 2 hour car journey

Organisation was better than previous events although layout was poor and caused over crowding in certain areas around the dealer stalls. Staff were far more pleasant than many have been before. Maybe this was due to visibly less people attending.

I didn't look for them, but I've no idea where either Peter Davison or Charisma Carpenter were seated. They wern't in the main area which seemed a big mistake given that most of the guests had no queue.

Visibly little or no interest in many of the smaller guests, especially the Casino Royale guys. I didn't see Tom So or Daniel Andreas sign for anyone in 2 hours. Did the guy from Police Academy even turn up?

Everyone except Routh, Brooks, Auberjonois, Montgomery and Bernard " The Legend" Cribbins had open queues from the start of the event from what I could tell. Even Peter Davison had one, probably cos no one knew where he was!

The guests I saw were really good though.

Actually there was a queue for Bernard Cribbins - I got autograph tickets for other guests but none were being given out for him at that stage so when I came back later I was surprised to discover that I needed a ticket after all. Fortunately I got a low number so it was relatively easy to get to meet him. I managed to meet everyone I wanted in a couple of hours, checked out the stalls and bought a couple of things and was already on my way home at 12.30. I think that's the fastest I've been in all the time I've been going to Collectormania.

I know some guests were delayed due to engineering work on the train lines they were travelling on, nt sure if the ones you mentioned were affected.

I met the absolutely gorgeous James Marsters today and can i say what a lovely guy he is. He gave me a hug and held my hands. No man has ever had the effect on me as James did. I went week at the knees and shook all over. He is the best. My picture off us is already framed and on my wall.:thumbup:

Ray Park and terry jones did have virtual ticket systems operatying from the start of the event.

All guests had the system at the start of the day. Lack of demand for many of them led to VTs being abandoned in those cases.

Have never been a Python fan, but where was Terry Jones anyway? Presumably stuck up some alley with Peter and Charisma  These guests really should've been in the centre square. I guess the idea is to sit the smaller guests next to the headliners so they get noticed, but the only thing that does is shove big guests away from the main areas and make those main areas look dead as began to happen pretty early on today.

I only had a bit of a look around on Saturday and snagged anything that took my fancy. Today I'll go back and have a really good glance for anything I might have missed. Overall Saturday was great though - keeping in mind I didn't go for any guest photographs or meet anyone aside Zach Galligan.

Hope anyone who couldn't collect their photos gets them posted alright. Royal Mail have been slacking off recently.

Charisma was down one of the sides with James Marsters....in all honesty it was probably for the best...put too many big guests in the main hall....it would just be too crowded.....then you would have the shoppers complaining about not being able to get through.....i saw a few myself purposely barging through some of the crowds just to make a point!

The Brandon queue outside was very well organised :borg:

I'm not so sure about the photo shoots though :headscratch:

The organisational element of C11 was great. Even the photo session queues (kudos especially to the female crew member with the dark hair who held my place in the queue cause I was bursting for the loo!!!!) were very well organised.

I decided to have my photo with Head, Marsters, Carpenter and Routh and so spent from 11-4.30 pm in a constantly rotating queue.

But from what I did see of the event it was business as usual. Excellent Crew, excellent guests, constantly updated info boards.

Bring on C12....

However, was it me or had the aisles between the stalls shrunk? There didn't seem to be much space.

Michael Winslow was the guy from Police Academy ... and yes he did turn up! He was seated four down from Brandon Routh and had a steady queue all day. He also did lots of tannoy announcements all weekend.

Tony Head also next to Michael had a VQ system in operation all day saturday and actually only went to open queue about ten minutes before he left - and he was the last guest to go!

I had a really nice time at C11 yesterday. I got to meet everyone that I wanted to (James, Charisma and Antony) they were all realy nice although James was my favourite. I was really happy with my photo with him when I finally got it that was!

At least it was worth queing for an hour! (I think it would've been better if the tickets had numbers that were called out like the VT's)

I thought Charisma looked amazing, she was really nice to me as well, I was a little disapointed though that I couldn't have my photo taken with her or Antony. Hopefully they will do another event in the future and I will get a photo shoot ticket it case theres no posed photos again.

Had a great day Saturday. Queueing for brandon and james was well organised, Im glad the whole area was cordened off and that the specific queues were escorted in from the outside

I think it was a bit chaotic when brandons tickets were being issued as we werent told that you then had to disperse and come back later, werent allowed to stand in line again and wait for brandon.

I wasnt impressed with the no posed photo rule - this is the first year Ive ever not been allowed a posed photo - probably because someone can make more money with the new photo shoots.

Crewing was better organised and the tall chap outside the brandon queue at 7.30 was very helpful.

Not so sure about the young woman sat at Charisma's desk. In the line we were told she was happy to pose, a young family got a picture infront of me but when I asked her just to look up at the camera while she signed the crew member was rather rude. I wasnt just going to photograph the top of her head, I do think some of the crew think they have a bit too much control and as one crew member in the line said "we are just trying to herd you all through like cattle".

As with other shows Ive been to they should be seen and not heard. Sometimes I felt I was just dealing with a crew member and the star was by the by just signing and passing on the picture. In future I will only speak to the star.

After that experience at Charismas table things got a whole lot better and enjoyed the whole day.

Great C11 - great mix of guests and stalls and as always spent far too much money.

Looking forward to C12 and just one thing Id change dont automatically stop the posed photos, not everyone can afford an autograph and an official picture

The "No Posed Photo" rule is often active on busier guests, its just so more people get to meet the guest and fewer people miss out. Of course SM are going to sell more photo shoot tickets on the back of it, but last time James Marsters was at Collectormania he wasn't posing for photos and that was before the days of photo shoots.

That said Terry Jones had the sign up "No Posed Photos", but I asked HIM and it was fine.

The "Tall chap" is Too Tall who mods on here, and you're right he did a great job on the Brandon queue!

Tony Head is a sweetheart. I met him at The Who Shop once and he was due to stay for exactly 4 hours... well we queued for 4 hours and by the time we got to the front there was another 4 hours of queue behind us! Tony stayed until EVERY person who attended had an autograph and their chance to meet him.

it kind of puts peoiple off metting them if no posed photos, or those of us who dont want to ask and risk offending the guest!

Weird. Yeah. James wouldn thave had photos anyway, and i suspect maybe charisma too even if there wasnt a photo shoot..... e.g nick brendon

Did Nick not allow people to do them or was he not allowed to? When I met Tony Head the first time the place I was at wouldn't allow photos though he didn't seem to mind when I asked.. it was the staff who said no. :P

I'm sure James would have allowed photos if it were up to him... Charisma didn't seem too thrilled about the shoot though to be honest. She wasn't as warm as Tony or James.

I do know where you're coming from. But I met Carrie Fisher at last years comicon and again "No Posed Photos" was in effect. I asked politely anyway and got a brilliant picture with her. Yesterday there were no photos with Grace Park, but it didn't put me off wanting to meet her.

I didnt expect Terry Jones to have a no posed photos, really wanted a picture with him, but didnt want to ask incase the people there are funny about that.

Its always worth asking, the worse thing that can happen is they say no. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! :D
