TommyT
Nintendo will be showing off its new console It will be interesting, if only to hear how the Nintendo people pronounce its name! From looking at it, it could sound like "Why" but it could also sound like "Wee". I've heard a number of industry commentators use the "Wee" pronunciation. I wonder if somebody at Nintendo UK took the brave (if perhaps foolhardy) decision to go with the Japanese name, on the grounds that if people did start calling it "Wee" then any jokes about urine, taking the, er, "mickey" etc, would be more than outweighed by the publicity/marketing effects of everybody talking about it. Or is it just nobody here had the bottle to say to head office in Japan "we have to change it - it may be a lovely name in Japan, but over here that word means p*ss!" (I can't believe nobody saw the name problems coming, surely!).
Arik_Soong
Cool i didnt know they were showcasing at my university now its an excuse not to work , seems complicated to control but then again i said that about the Gamecube when it came out and that became second nature after a few days

Guest WaterBoy
Can we play mario kart? Yes - But you will need to find some go karts and some turtles to throw at people. Thats not very nice, for the people and the turtles. You would also need to eat lots of strange coloured mushrooms. That would also be bad. Skylover
I had the chance to try the Wii (and the PS3) late october and I must say its very impressive, u really have the sensation to use a NEW NEXT GEN hardware, unlike the PS3 or 360 who only had better visuals (but its good too of course) Edited November 7, 2006 by Skylover
Moderators DavidB Posted November 7, 2006 Author Moderators Share Posted November 7, 2006 Can we play mario kart? Unfortunately not. There's not a Wii version yet, and I don't think they'll have the older version(s) for download yet. Closest you'll get is if they run a Gamecube version on it.
