:YAHOO: In February I went to g-mex just to get Brent Spiner's autograph as I love Trek and especially TNG but it is a lot of effort and money for just 1 guest and now it is the same situation as I am only going for Michael Dorn as I have some video and dvd sleeves from the movies that the other six have signed and his signature will complete them...does anyone really really want to get Kate O' Mara's autograph and some of the other stars?disappointing line up now but sm may get a few additional guests and there are still quite a few weeks for others to be added..sadly that leaves lots of time for inevitable cancellations!

Yes, I want Kate O'Mara's autograph. I for one have never watched an episode of Buffy, Angel, Smallville, Lost,

24, CSI where ever and LOTR and Harry Potter both bore me to tears but I'm happy for all those guests to come because then there is something for everyone, or most people anyway. Also Manchester is easier for me to get to because I'm in Edinburgh and MK is not only a bit of a trek but is a very long dull train journey away and ALL the hotels are always, always booked up well in advance, I know some of you are a bit disappointed but please remember the world doesn't revolve around you!

Well I can think of about ten I would like to buy, and Im gona have to narrow that down as I spent alot at Collectormania 10! Im not a huge fan of the Bond guests, but I was already mentally spending too much before those announcements so Im not gona complain about them! :YAHOO:

I went to the first G-Mex show and only saw 2 guests, Andy Serkis (again! :P ) and Jorge Garcia, but still had a wonderful time. It was a far trek from London to Manchester (3 and a half hours on the train-eep!) but well worth it. Gave me a chance to buy some stuff off the stalls (cheap DVD's and/or posters, 10x8's, etc.).

This November's G-Mex event looks amazing in terms of the lineup! I had to curb my spending at Collectormania 10 (gave Lance Henricksen a miss, cut down on the number of auto's from the Lost folk), hope I don't have to for this one, lol! Lots of different guests for me this time, from the various shows/movies I am interested in: Miranda Otto & Mark Ferguson (LOTR), Robert Englund (I have so many things for him to sign it's unreal-must chop the list down!), as well as John Kassir (the Cryptkeeper) and Andrew Bryniarski (TCM Remake/Firefly). Oh, and I shall see Julie Benz if she has a photo from "Supernatural" availible, or if I can find one amongst the stalls!

Apart from the stuff I'm interested in, there's guests-a-plenty from every imaginable genre/show/movie out there, Dr. Who, Stargate, Star Wars, Harry Potter, James Bond, etc. Surely something for everyone.

I'm sure G-Mex will be a great show! Thanks SM! :YAHOO:

Yap me! I am very dissapointed so far - I don't know half of these guests and I know my friends also aren't happy about these grandma and grandpa guests... I am missing more big names. I loved the last Gmex or the LFACC, but this time I regret that I bought the tickets so far in advance and booked the flight... :YAHOO:

You should give a few of those shows a go daz esp Buffy, Angel, Lost and 24! I met Kate O Mara at C10, she was lovely :) Howie, there are a lot of Dr Who fans out there who would want to meet her.

I'm not saying it's a bad line up Showmasters work their butts off to get the guests they think people want and there are a lot of people out there that want these guests, and for them I'm really happy unfortunately I'm only interested in the 1 guest. Like I said in my earlier post I have a friend that ill do the honors for me I just don't think 1 guest is worth dragging my 10 month old across country for a 1 minute meeting and yet another NO POSED PHOTOS sign.

I just can't see who is going to draw the big queues this time around. Miranda Otto is likely to be fairly busy. maybe Joe Flannigan (Though I think he's doing an appearance elsewhere a month or so prior). The other 'bigger' name guests (Michael Dorn, Robert Englund and Julie benz) have all done many SM events before (between them.)

Yes SM have been very busy announcing new guests, but there's not a single one in that bunch that interests me. So far the only person that even vaguely interests me from the entire lineup is Miranda Otto and I'm starting to think that even she's not worth coming up from London for, paying for travel and accommodation etc.

I'm sure there are others like me who just aren't interested in stars from yester-year. The ones I want to meet and pay out for are the current ones, people from current or very recent films/tv, not ones from 25 years ago, sorry.

I do hope that we get some like that or I will have to give it a miss, 1 person isnt worth forking out for this trip I'm afraid.

I have to say that this is the worst snobbery. Assuming you are old enough to recall the stars and shows of "yesteryear", what makes them so unsatisfactory ?? Yes we all want Tom Hanks, Kevin Spacey and Josh Holloway, but personally I'm looking forward to meeting Wanda Ventham, George Sewell, Dirk and Dwight, and maybe even Colin Baker (again!) Just because it's been a while since a guest was in a hit show, doesn't make them a crappy guest ....

Yes, I am very disappointed by the lineup, it definitely isnt as good as last year. Their are too many guests from shows way before my time, and not enough from current ones. Their are so many BSG guests we could have, or even from shows such as The 4400 or Lost.

I am sure this lineup will appeal to some, but for me, it very much lacking at the moment.

I won't be meeting any of these Bond or Thunderbirds/Captain Scarlet guests! Bond is a bit old for me (I'm 22 :D) but I loved watched Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet as a kid  I don't collect autos though, to me it's just part of meeting guests that I like the characters of, if that makes sense? obviously it's each to their own but we just had a load of Bond guests at C10 and I was a runner and a PA in the bond section over the weekend and they weren't that busy! :YAHOO: I know there needs to be a balance of old and new and SM try and cover alot of fan bases but alot of these guests seem to be repeats :(

yes I am of course still trekking up from Cardiff (pfft and you Londoners/MKers think you got it hard ) but mainly to see friends than buy autos! the merchandise is mostly the same (maybe I just do too many SM events ) auto wise, at the mo, the only definate one I'm getting is Miranda Otto B) but hey, as a poor nursing student, it's all good! least you MKers/Londoners can get the Megabus or the National Express up there from as little as a quid and could go up and back in one day in a few hours on the train, not to mention you live near CM/LFaCC, you're really quite fortunate :P

Bond is a bit old for me (I'm 22 )

I don't think we can use age as a reason. James Bond is EVERYWHERE all the damn time, I've lost count of the number of times that the movies have been repeated on ITV or whatever else over the years, so even if you may not have been old enough to see them the first time round, it's likely you'll have seen them the 250th time :YAHOO: Of course there are some that simply just don't like them so ya know .. regardless of age, it won't really matter, they won't be interested.

It's simply about the quality of the guests, the variety, and whether they've been anywhere else etc. I know plenty of people our age that love James Bond but wouldn't necessarily want to meet many of the guests that there are at GMEX, or that were at C10. They'd meet a Lazenby, or Alan Cumming, or Samantha Bond etc but not necessarily bit-part regular signers on the circuit.

However, just as with Baker and Prowse and the other Star Wars people, James Bond guests do have a market out there and there'll always be a few that need another sig on a poster or whatnot. They won't be the busiest guests, and SM know that, but I'm sure if they can get better and rarer Bond guests then they will.

It's still 5 weeks until the show. If you've ever looked at when the announcements are made for the shows you will have seen that very regularly the announcements for the "current" actors aren't made until closer to the event. This is simply because the actors are in work, so it can take some more working around or they simply can't confirm their availability until closer to the time.

Take C10 for instance. The 3 busiest (and most current) guests at the show were announced within the 5 week run up to the event.

David Wenham

Maggie Grace

Ian Somerhalder

My point is, it may not be a great line up for you right now, but give SM a chance. I just think this whole thread is very premature.

I have not seen any of the Bond films that haven't had Pierce Brosnan in them they just don't interest me! I probably won't see the new version of Casino Royal in the cinema either as there is no one in the film I'm interested in and normally I see a film for the people who are in it unless it has a totally amazing trailer and I become interested in the people

but, yes, I know each to their own  and I did meet - but not get auto as he was grumpy - Alan Cumming at which ever event that was (thanks for that, I'd forgotten ) and was really excitied when he was announced as I loved his character and yes you are right, I'd rather meet people from the newer films. I'm not saying Bond as a series is "old for me" but yeah, rather the guests are from the older films and they (the films) are a bit old for me as obviously I wasn't even born when some of them were released! I hope this makes sense to you people!!!

Star Wars :YAHOO: , I think, is different. it's one of those films (series) that people tended to grow up watching (well, kids of the 80s anyways) and is timeless if you will, the same with the Goonies, Indiana Jones and Back to the Future, just as people of this century will probably grow up watching Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, that kinda thing

urg this is so hard to explain! but I hope you get me! B)

I think that's unfair, she didn't say they were crappy guests, just that she wasn't interested in stars that are from films/shows that are old. I think that's a fair point, I too have no interest in people from shows that were on when I was a kid and I think past shows have shown that the more popular guests are the more current ones.

She hasn't?!? :o I'm actually shocked (and also wondering where the hell I got her auto from!)

Yeah, bottom of the barrel guests that will interest some hardcore autograph hunters but not the main. Not the standard SM usually come up with...still a few weeks left and hopefully thats the last bit part bond actors announced. Fair enough people are completists but for the rest????????????? Nothing apart from Miranda Otto .Shame. Prove me wrong SM...

I am totally stunned at how narrow minded some people are! "Bit Part Bond Actors"? Are you mad?

Alexandra Bastedo was not only in a main Casino Royale role but also had the leading lady role in the TV series The Champions - Signed only ONCE anywhere.

Barbara Bouchet was Miss Moneypenny in Casino Royale - you can't gety more main role than that! - Signed only ONCE in the UK.

Gloria Hendry was the main Bond love interest for Bond on Roger Moore's first outing as Bond - Main cast member - Signed only TWICE in the UK - the last time was over 2 years ago!

I feel it very sad that there are people out there who are blinkered into "today only" stars. Not only has Showmasters managed to get two main Casino Royale cast members to tie in with the release of the new one which launches on the weekend of the show, but they have three MAIN cast members that have bearly signed anywhere in the World.

Just goes to prove that there is more to life than just LOTR, Buffy and Angel - Thank God!!!

I for one am very happy to see a wider selection of guests, which is what I thought the show was all about. Each generating greater appeal to a larger audience and catering for everyone.

Well done and thank-you Showmasters. Keep up the good work!

Same here but I'm getting used to it now, I havent looked fwd to a SM con since C9...SM cons seem to be heavily dominated by TV stars these days and not as many film guests as before.
