not a first time signer i know but any chance we could have deep roy again he was great and i have a load more bits for him to sign also john fensom, celia imrie, ray griffiths, nicki read, warwick davis's sister(can't think of her first name),nick gillard, friday wilson(and the other handmaidens)also could we have stand ins like andreas petrides, rob inch, richard hurdle, paul kite, joan field, steve ricard, charles blackwell and i'd also like to see paul whelan and goran kleut as we have paul spence at gmex it'd make a nice multi signed

If you like stand-ins don't forget PAUL CAMPBELL... he certainly worked on the ATOC pick-ups and was supposed to be doubling for Samuel L Jackson.

Then of course GAVIN HALE from TPM who is seen in 365 days with Steve Ricard. Convention-guests have their number. Also SANDRINE did some standing in also in the UK for Natalie Portman.

What you mean "ONLY" ???

There was a time when 7 guests was

consittered alot for a one day event.

Beside it is not as easy to keep finding

first time signers and you got a world premiere

There were times that Dave Prowse used to charge 10£ for an autograph... There were times you were not charged 20£ for taking ur picture with a guest...

There were times there were only 2 conventions a year... But those are long gone too!

I have to admit we're getting spoiled every time we go to ED and get to meet more and more guests... I'm afraid this one will be limited to only 7, if we're lucky!

When it's not easy to keep finding first time signers, I suggest the following solutions for ur problem:

- why not organise ED only once every 6 months?

- why not invite some rare convention attendees, instead of first timers? (e.g. Paul Brooke, Peter Geddis,...)

- why not try to give every ED edition a different theme? (I think this one could be "Reunion of the Bountyhunters" - invite Jeremy, Allen and Chris: I don't think anyone would mind the fact that they're not first time signers at all)

But who am I to tell...

I AM happy trust me, but the past 2 EDs have had loads of guests and theres others that are possible from the same site, I take it they're unavalable?

Catherine Munroe is indeed a good guest but dont forget most of the previous guests were world premieres also, and as featured in the movies if not more so!

So yes, compared to previous EDs, there are ONLY 7 guests. So far?

Mazzic: I remember those days of Prowse et al charging £10 per auto and and 10 per photo etc, the one who changed all that was Ray Park I believe, now the major cast charge £20-£25 per auto and £10 or so per photo sometimes, For next year's Celebration I will be interested to see who will charge more than £10 per auto, at least the smaller cast members seem happy to pose for photos for free, it has brought the fun back to autograph collecting after the dodgy anctics of Mr Park! I do like Darth Maul though!!

Remember that a lot of these guys are still working in the industry, they do not just sit around waiting for a call for a convention, they have a day job. Many other guests were contacted about doing this show, the ones that you see are the ones who confirmed they could make it, others have work commitments and we will try and get them for a later date. Some of these we already got to other shows, guys like Peter Geddis, George Roubicek, Paul Brooke and Deep Roy, who couldn't make Empire Day.

Jason stated when he started up the Empire Days again that he wanted first time signers only, and that is what he has delivered 3 times this year. Considering the sorry state star wars shows in this country were in before the return of ED, with no dedicated conventions and the same old guests turning up again and again, I think we should all sit back and get some perspective on this.

This weekend we have 7 guests turning up who none of us have ever met. Not only do we get to meet these guys and have them sign our stuff, we will have loads of time to chat to them and hear their stories of what it was like working on our favourite films. To me that's far more important than the autographs.

Another thing to keep in mind is that while Collectormania and LFACC are big, money making shows, ED is a small affair that does well to break even. These shows are run as a labour of love for Jason, but when he has a load of other shows around the same time, and a big corporation (Lucasfilm) making demands every few minutes about Celebration, ED undoubtedly gets pushed to the bottom of the pile.

Lets look forward to a fun weekend at ED and be thankful for another 7 names in our collections. That will bring the total number of new star wars signers from showmasters this year to 40, which I really can't see is anything to complain about at all!

I agree - it would be nice to attend one though!! I've got a poster which hasn't been signed at all this year!!

I live up North with a family and mortgage etc and cannot justify travelling to events which aren't easily accessible. I would have liked the 40 odd sigs on it.

Have a good time on Sunday guys

Maybe invite them all to Gmex or have an empire day North - There are plenty of Hotels in Blackpool. I could help organise one!!! (I have alot of contacts at the hotels - I DJ alot of weddings!!!)

or invite them all to Celebration Europe as a "forgotten Heroes" section charging £5 a time!!

It was Ray Park that changed everything but we let him - my first Dave Prowse was free!!

I hear you Graham, but that's what happens when you 'spoil' people with your other shows.

We were all a bit startled that this show was scheduled for December, when we normally would have expected it in February 2007.

At which time Jason might have found more people available and less stress from other shows.

Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to this edition also. While I'm very excited about Cathy Munroe, it goes without saying that the other names are every bit as exciting and rare. They are indeed all new names.

See you in a couple of days!

Just to clarify; does standard entry start at 11:00am or 12:00pm??

The website says 11:00am , but people here are still saying 12:00pm (the usual time).

Cheers :)

EDIT: Just read a SM post in another thread confirming the 11:00am standard entry time.

Also had a really good day, a big part being the socialising and helping out with the Westminster students docu. film. Combining it with the regular Cheshunt toyfair was a good move and the £1 standard entry helped a fair bit too I think :P

While I travelled over 650 kilometers and spent quite a bit of time on the road, it was well worth it. I was in good company, had a good chat with the guest stars (they really had the time, which was nice) and was able to score 6 new autographs to my already nicely filled posters.

It was a very nice day indeed! Looking forward to the next one.
