nicky Posted August 17, 2006 Share Posted August 17, 2006 I get posters signed primarily cos they are the ultimate represenatation of the film other than the film itself and the posters are the offical advert (and most widely used) for the film anyway. GoldenGreen Posted August 18, 2006 Share Posted August 18, 2006 I know a lot of people get posters signed, particularly Star Wars ones, but they are a real pain to lug around the various shows, and you only need one person to mess up, bad sig, pen leaks and they can get ruined. He was (I believe) a genuine dealer who loved autographs. However, as so often, it's the "trusted contacts" that are questionable. About 6 years ago I purchased the following signatures from him (on card or photo): B.Dee Williams, Mark Hamil, James Earl-Jones, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels. It turned out that they were all almost certainly fakes. In fact I had the Mayhew and Dee WIlliams ones confirmed by the actors themselves. However, I did get a refund. Again I'd like to say that I believe LCA thought they were selling the genuine article. One of many reasons I never by from dealers who state they get their items from "trusted contacts". Sorry to drop this on you, but as someone who loves the hobby of autograph collecting (and sometimes sells them, currently for charity), I get very dispondent when hearing things like this.
