Its been said by Andrea few days ago.

Autographica is a totally different style of show to Collectormania and LFCC.

Totally different atmosphere and appeals to a different kind of fan.

It makes me sick when certain individuals threaten to not attend a show because the guests aren't to their particular taste.

THEN DON'T GO !!

The show isn't relying on soley yourslves to be a success.. the loss of 2 people whom I can see have done nothing but moan since the beginning is frankly not a big deal.

As for postponing the show again...not gonna happen and theres no need to do it in the first place.

Yes you are both entitled to your own opinions but please..keep it real for gods sake..we are all aware of your distastes this time around and to be honest it's becoming quite tedious and very very boring hearing the same ramblings everytime.

I have to agree, certain members of the forum have a moan about a lot of stuff if its not guests at Autographica its the cost of the Gold Pass for LFCC. If you are so unhappy with everything why bother attending such shows and why bother posting negative comments all the time! These are designed for a wide audience so they may not always to be every ones taste. People attend these shows not just for the guests they attend for the stalls and to meet up with like minded friends that they have made from this forum and else where. With the negative comments and peoples reactions to them I guess you dont do the last one because the way you always moan about something or other. Summer is on its way are you going to moan cause its to sunny and warm??

people are entitled to an opinion. At the end of the day i dont see many threads started saying this events brilliant.............People who are disappointed are more likely to vent their frustration by posting than those who are happy with the lineup or just dont care. I agree with certain others who say that this is a different kind of event than other cons but id also add that last Autographica had more popular guests.

As much as you have the right to post, others do too and just because some people will not say anything negative or even contructive criticism about the event and its organisers, doesnt mean others cant have their say. We'd all love to say its the best event in the world and wonderful unique guests and yay this and yay that but for a large proportion of people who were there last time, this is a disappointing lineup. Onwards and upwards we hoped for. But then again, how do you top Buzz Aldrin, youd have to have Neil Armstrong!

I've never attended an Autographica before, I've always thought of them as being expensive when compared to LFACC and Collectormania. However I've bought my gold pass purely with the intention of meeting Sir Norman Wisdom.

In general the guest list at previous Autographica events hasn't been to my personal taste so I've given them a miss, especially with the number of shows we now have per year.

If I enjoy the show, or if next years big name guest is someone I've always wanted to meet then I'll go again. If not then at least it will be worth the price of entry to meet one of my comedy heroes.

Besides, there is always the free afternoon entry to think about.

Different events appeal to different tastes. I don't think DisneyDude said you can't have an opinion, in fact

Yes you are both entitled to your own opinions
but its the fact that you are keep going on about it. Do you really think that it will change the line up? Not at this late date.

As for postponing event to October, why? This will make Dave look bad! With the possibility of loosing attendees due to this. This guest line is up is fab, and I want to meet every single one of the them. Yes it does not appeal to you but it does to some. Plus you are still not guranteed getting guests you want. They get the guests that are available at the time, as you know circumstances change, to whether a guest can appear or not.

As for people not saying when an event is good, please check out the C9 thread! There are lot of prasies on there to Showmasters and the crew. This was a fantastic event, even though we lost a few guests.

No one is stopping you from expressing your opinion, but it is not going to effect the outcome in the end.

Sorry if I upset anyone this is not my intention, just my opinion.

I hope you manage to find a Showmasters or Autographica that suits your tastes.

Wishes

I went to Autographica a few years back and met various Star Trek guests. I had a great time, though the venue was quite hard for me to get to. Now the venue is much easier but the guests have less appeal for me, but the one I did attend was great - peaceful and friendly!

We still have a while to go, so there may be more guests to come, but whatever you think about Autographica, Dave and Garry certainly manage to bring over some unusual and rare guests and as many have said its not all about the guests, the atmosphere of the show is a big thing to.

This is not a LFCC or Collectormania, it is a different sort of event. The others shows are focused more round Sci-Fi, TV and Films, where as Autographica has always had a much wider guest base, specialising particularly in space guests , but also bringing sports guests (Jack Charlton, Fred Trueman, John H. Stracey) etc, they have brought us in the past Milvina Dean (Titanic Survivor), always very popular, Sir Patrick Moore, Jimmy James (Part of the Real Great Escape), etc etc

This truly is an autograph event first and foremost , rather than a TV or SCI FI event which has people who are also signing.

The dealers at Autographica, are all autograph dealers, the show is normally attended by the Universal Autograph Collectors Club etc, so it is really a different kind of event.

Sure, it's not to everyones taste, and even with the best will in the world you will not always be able to have better and better guests, we were spolied last time around with Buzz and Ursula, but who knows what the next event will bring.

And this event is shaping up pretty well, some good space guests, rare signers in Honor and Sir Norman.

I went to the last Autographica and must say it was the best show/convention I have been to. I had such a great time both during the day and in the evening (playing blackjack with Harvey Stephens was an experience I will never forget!). I was therefore really looking forward to the next event. As it turns out there are not really the sorts of guests going that would interest me too much and with other great events coming up, I think I will save my money for them.

Never the less, this line up will appeal to a lot of people and I'm sure it will be another success.

I sometimes worry that negative attitudes on the forum is counter productive and nearly always causes arguments.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, fair enough, but saying the guest line up is not to your taste is not the same as saying it is "poor". Constructive criticism and diplomacy can go hand-in-hand!!

Keep it up Gary and Dave!!
