Gollum slissed as he searched for the ring on the tiny island that was his home for so many years. Ah, there you are, my precious. He gripped the ring tightly and whispered the thing he said so often: My preciousssssss Your precious? I am the One Ring, the Ring to rule them all and you think I’m yours? You are sadly mistaken. You are only the means to an end. A way to get me back to my true owner. After Déagol fished me out of the water I knew that you and not he was destined to carry me for a while. And the way you killed Déagol to claim me as your own, proved me right. I was confident I would be home soon. But my power was more then you could handle and it has left me stuck here in this cave with you. I can feel my master getting stronger. He searches for me, but he is not yet strong enough to find me. If I am ever to get to him, I must leave this cave Gollum may have found me again this time, But next time he takes me of this island to go hunting, I will give him he slip. A new bearer will find me and shall finally take me home. Home to my master, the Dark Lord. In Mordor where the Shadows lie

borgteddy
And there are always quests to destroy them too. If you weren't allready evil, things like that will make you evil.
Tippin
I completely agree! Constant persecution for the righteous would make anybody go on a mad venegance quest that indefiently led to the dark side - I mean how many people could fall into a river and be lost under all that sediment and then picked up by an insane hermit and then dropped in a volcano and not be evil? Not to mention look at it's parent!
borgteddy
Exactly, the One Ring never had a chance. From the day he was just an baby ring they always assumed things about him and set out to destroy him. Nobody asked him about what he wanted. It's just totaly unfair. Tippin
Well at least the One ring never turned round and started shouting "Why me? Why did he choose me? Why couldn't this all have happened to somebody else? I never asked for this! I never wanted eternal fame and glory!" So really it was a very good ring and very obedient and well behaved unlike most of today's youth!
borgteddy
That's true, it was very mature about it We can all learn things from it like patience.

bear
I think your story is very well written and a nice idea about writing from the ring's perspective. Well done
Liessa
Excellent BT! Poor ring... All it's homesickness and never actually getting there... I feel so sorry for it! I wonder what the cards said what it was born though... I, Sauron, do proudly announce the birth of the vessel of my power. I have decided to call it ONE RING If you want to visit, please call, as parent and object need frequent rest and time to plot taking over the world. borgteddy
LOL yeah I think that could have been it :) Sauron wasn't very original in naming Ring, but it could have been a lot worse. He could have decided to call it Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116 (like a swedish couple wanted to call their child)
Tippin
He wanted to name it Fred but aparently it doesn't strike as much fear into peoples hearts as when they hear "The One Ring" I have heard rumour he was Albert to his friends though
borgteddy
It's good to know he still had friends. Even though they weren't much help to him.
