My major collections are of Doctor Who and Star Wars memorabilia. When it comes to paople in Doctor Who I am trying to collect as many signatures as possibe, but as for Star Wars I get those that I can afford or that I desperately want. It's all a question of money. I can't see the point in certain people charging £15.00 when they were either completely covered in a costume while playing a minor background character or when they have one line in the entire series. A few years ago I wouldn't have been quite so choosy, but now that I'm old and cynical i realise that some of these people only care about the cash.

Gotta be honest and say any Star Wars character i'd get. Within reason i'd get most lotr people (except doubles), basically anyone that interests me or in a film i like or alternatively is a talking point, ie when someone goes through my collection they'll go oh yeah he was in ...........

So in answer........forgot what the choices were

I tend to get charactors that I like.

The person must have had a memorable role though - I wouldn't get a double or "third alien from the left"

I prefer people that have had bigger roles or lots of small roles in different things that I like.

For me both money and the franchise are a factor plus I'm not an avid collector so I only tend to get those I consider "main" characters. I've recently started a Buffy collection to get all of my DVD's signed but I only get autos from the cast memebers I really want to meet. I chose not to get Kali Rocha or Adam Busch at previous Collectormania's as their characters never made much of an impact on me. However, I am looking forward to meeting Kelly Donovan who had a very minor role in Buffy, so I guess it depends on the guest.

With minor characters (although they're not always minor... its just I don't watch a lot of telly might have no idea who they are :) I usually get them only if requested by friends or if that character has had an impact on me.

I don't really want to spend £10 on someone just because they're cute :)

Some of the minor ones are nicest eg a while ago my friend met the guy who played Greedo... such a friendly bloke who obviously enjoyed meeting fans and wasn't there for the money.

For Buffy/Angel I go for any recurring character be they hero or villain.

For Bond, any major character (Bond, Villain, Bond Girl or MI6).

For Doctor Who, Doctors, Assistants and recurring characters.

For Carry On, any major character.

For Star Wars, main characters I particularly like, definitely no "Third Stormtrooper on left".

Otherwise I go for people who I admire for any reason (talent, looks, particular film/TV show)

I will go for the minor guests if I am collecting autographs on one item (box set for example) but ultimately it is often a financial decision. If the guest is £15 that is an awful lot of money to spend to get one signature of an actor who was in one episode of some show I like - especially when they are bound to end up at a convention where I can get them to sign the item for free!

I agree with Spookie - it depends on how you view who is a 'minor' or 'headliner' guest.

At LFACC3, there were a number of 'headliners' so to speak. Did I think they were? Some I did, some I didn't.

I found John Barrowman an absolute sweetheart who has a heart of gold ... and I remember seeing him present a kids programme years ago. Did I class him as a 'headliner'? No, I didn't.

I had been waiting years to meet Adrian Paul, who turned out to be one of nicest human beings I have ever met, and he had tons of time for the fans. *G* Did I class him as a 'headliner'? You bet I did.

So, it's a matter of an individual's perspective.

For me it really does depend on which film they were in. I love Star Wars and that, but I wouldn't bother with every single person. However when it comes to someone from Kingdom Of Heaven or Gladiator, then I would get anyones I could. Christian Simpson only said one line and was only seen for a matter of seconds in Gladiator, but I got his autograph anyway, mainly because I am a huge Gladiator fan, but also because when you're dealing with "smaller" characters they tend to talk more about their experiences because with the main people they have pretty much been asked the same questions about their work about 50 times already.

As a star wars fan myself and get everyone that I can, I currently have over just over 500 different autographs from even the smallest of parts. But more and more minor guests are now attending these events, but some do think their major stars and some of the prices they charge does stun me.
