Moderators DavidB Posted April 8, 2005 Moderators Share Posted April 8, 2005 Well I think the two guests they've got so far are the kinda guests they usually get, so seems it will be staying the same Should be interesting to see who they get! mistaken_plane
Its basically a much more specialised show. Not like the usual SM events, they tend of have people like astronauts and cosmanuts there. And I also hope it stays the same, cos its a great event, but being at Heathrow would make travel that much easier!
Count Fooku
I've only been to one of their shows but it was really enjoyable, it just seemed a lot more laid back. Without meaning any offence to anyone the guests would probably be aimed at an older age group so there arent the hordes of screaming fans you get at some SM shows. old bloke
It is good show, much, much more laid back, probably as mentioned previously aimed at the older, more serious autograph collecting market, loads of astronaughts if you want them, I don't but they are very popular, gala dinner drinks with the guests, altogether a very much more sofisticated show, no toy dealers just autographs. Exactly ! I think it is important for the "stereotypical" SM regular (no offence ) to realise that this show is NOTHING like MK or London. It's in a five star Heathrow hotel, with limited admission, and - without being a snob - considerably more ... refined ! I think the costume wearing, Craig Parker loving, screaming teenagers will be disappointed ! Like I said ... no offence !

Moderators Dave Phillips Posted April 10, 2005 Moderators Share Posted April 10, 2005 (edited) Hello to everyone on this forum This is Dave Phillips, one of the Autographica organisers. I wanted to let you guys know what to expect from Autographica. Firstly it is an event aimed at the autograph collector or dealer who wants a relaxed weekend meeting celebrities and engaging in his hobby. Typically we do not get the queues for celebrity signatures that you will find at collectormania. Secondly we do not limit the number of signatures you can obtain or the time spent with the celebrity. Our show is all about meeting the guests and treasuring those moments with them. Thirdly photography is welcomed and guests will not charge for the privilege either. The show has a great atmosphere and is a world away from the hustle and bustle of Collectormania I have read all the comments on this forum and agree with all of you in that the show in the past has generally attracted a slightly older audience but having said that in the past few years we have had a big participation from families especially as the show is free to anyone under 15 providing they are accompanied by a paying adult. Our Gala Dinner is one of the highlights of the show and in the past we have had guest speakers such as Marina Sirtis, George Lazenby,Larry Hagman and many more. At Autographica we pride ourselves on getting those guests who have never visited the U.K before and this year will hold more than a few surprises for you all. Both Garry and i will be up at Collectormania to meet you all and answer any questions you might have. Until then feel free to ask any questions about the show on this forum. My very best to you all. ILoveMerry
what are the prices like? it kinda seems to be considerably more than collectormania. i'm not saying thats a bad thing because of the calibre of guests, i was just interested, so i know how much to save up. i'm quite interested in getting some autograph from astronauts. Moderators DavidB Posted April 10, 2005 Moderators Share Posted April 10, 2005 Do you have a particular genre you focus on or are you open to stars from tv & film, as well as writers, directors, and even sports stars? I know you've had some quite unusual guests and that's interesting to see! I just wondered what your aim was with the show now, whether the focus was going to change at all. I'm interested in directors particularly and not many shows here, if any, actually have them? It would be something different! Then again, with London Film And Comic Con getting bigger, I'm hopeful there'll be room for some there too

lone gunman
It was a rhetorical question. Disappointing having to choose events rather than being able to get to all of them. Its become so competitive that gone are the days when organisers actually worked together on choosing dates which didn't clash. I've been attending Cons long enough to remember when this used to happen.
Scorch
Making decisions ain't really a strong point of mine and I hate choosing! Lone Gunbloke, I get where ya coming from on one score, but on another I feel as though if we were able to hit each and every event, then some of the magic woulda kinda fade. Too much of a good thing, ya know? Besides, I don't wanna meet everyone all at once!! i'll be at LFACC though. without a doubt. Snappers, babes!! I'll be swanning through the doors of LFCC in my glad rags too!

MAD
This sounds strange, but I'm not interested in the invited stars at all! The stars I'd like to get signatures of are.... uhh... dead. So my questions more relates to the dealers. I'm from the Netherlands and I'd like to come over for a day just to see what the dealers are offering. Astronauts don't make happy, but what about vintage stars? I'd love to get a Hitchcock signed photo or a James Stewart... so: How many dealers are there (how big is it)? And are there also dealers with vintage entertainement signatures like this (or only astronauts and Lincoln handwritten letters). And are there also dealers that sell popular entertainement (the LOTR signed photos, as you would expect on CM) or is this "not done" on this event...? Thanks for your reply Edited April 13, 2005 by MAD
