We are very pleased to announce that The London Film and Comic Con is expanding, with both a new venue and new date.

The London Film and Comic Con 2005 will now take place at the hugely prestigious Earls Court venue on 25th and 26th June 2005.

The show will now be a collosal annual mega-event, with representation from many of the major film distributors and related merchandise companies. By bringing the event to you in the summer, we will be able to tie into the huge Summer Blockbuster movie releases, and also have the event act as a focal point for the industry for a whole year!

The London Film and Comic Con 2005 promises to be like nothing else ever staged in this country before, and over the coming months you will see some huge announcements, both in terms of guests, special events, and industry representation, which are sure to make the show not just an excellent weekend out, but an essential one!!!!!

We did not take the decision to move venue's lightly, but we think we are all aware of some of the problems that were experienced with Wembley back in November, and we have also listened to the many comments that you have made regarding these. It is important that the venue is easily accessable, and whilst Wembley suffered from a lack of pretty much any public transport at all, Earls Court has 2 underground stations, Earls Court, and West Brompton, positioned right outside the venue; a bus depot next door, and also public parking. It is also easily accessible from the M4 motorway and North Circular.

Earls Court also has all the ameneties you would expect of a major exhibition venue such as cash machines on site, plenty of restaurant choice, and many nearby, varied price hotels.

There have been various comments on this forum speculating about what was happening with The London Film and Comic Con, and also saying that we should have been quicker to make a statement in this regard. Whilst we understand that you want to know what is going on, we can only say certain things at certain times. We could not say that we were moving the event until we knew that we actually were, and although we have been exploring this possibility for a little while now, it is only in the last few days that we have actually come to an agreement with Earls Court, and so until that point we technically may still have run the event at Wembley in March. So in fact, until the point at which we had finally come to an agreement with Earls Court, we really could not tell you anything that was certain.

We also have had to deal with rival organisers constantly 'digging' at our business, and resorting to such tactics as coming onto this forum pretending to be us and posting false statements whilst also disrespecting you, our members, and trying to turn the fans against us. They have also been actively touting round venues trying to also find out what we are doing and where we are going in order that they may try to undermine that. Whilst such actions may be distasteful, and annoying to say the least, there is little we can do to stop them. However, we hope that you will understand that when faced with such disruption, we also have to put in place a certain degree of company confidentiality, which in the long term enables us to bring you, the fans, what promises to be an amazing event. On our forum you have the luxury of being able to say whatever you want. We, unfortunately, are not in that same position. You must understand that in such an environment we cannot say things until we have them confirmed and they cannot be disrupted by business rivals. If Ford were to develop a new car that could fly, the first you would hear about it is when they unveil the finished product, for to do so any earlier would mean all their business rivals doing the same and damaging their product.

For people to say that we ' can't be bothered ' to tell you what is going on is simply not the case. It may be frustrating for you not knowing until now what is happening, but it is also frustrating for us! Not only have we not known for certain how we would be proceeding with the event, but we have also had to watch people posting on here saying that we do not care about the fans and stirring up trouble, when this is simply not true, although we could not say anything to put this straight until now.

At the November event we had every intention of running the London Film and Comic Con at Wembley in March 05. We handed out flyers in that belief, and it was only after the problems of that weekend, and your comments on them, that we began to look for alternatives that would not only make the event better for you, but also expand the event into what we know it can be. We have not updated the website since that event, nor have we placed any advertising in any publication so that we could minimise the inconvenience that the date change will undoubtedly cause to some of you. Unfortunately we know that some of you will be inconvenienced by this, and whilst it may not be much consolation to you, we are sorry about that, and have tried to do as much as we can to minimise that, and also bring you the news of the new date and venue as soon as we could.

Many of you have also specualted that at the last London event we lost money and so would not run another. Whilst it is true that the last event did lose a considerable amount of money, we are confident that The London Film and Comic Con will become the premier event in the world in this genre, and we have seen the potential that is there. We are prepared to invest in this event long term, and are comitted to both continuing, and expanding The London Film and Comic Con, bringing to you, the fans, the event that you deserve. We thank you all for your support in the past, and hope that come June you will understand the vision that we have for The London Film and Comic Con, and that you, along with us, will all be part of it.

Is it possible to know why it was that weekend which was picked?

We chose Earls Court as the ideal venue and were looking at moving the event to a more central date in the year, and at such short notice, this was the only weekend available at the venue.
