  1. Latest Comic Guest Announcement - David Roach Attending: Friday, Saturday & Sunday Artist: 2000 AD; Doctor Who Magazine; Batman/Demon Author: The Art of Vampirella: The Dynamite Years; The Art of Jose Gonzales WELL known for his encyclopaedic knowledge of comics history and for his remarkable ability to identify the work of other (often obscure) comics artists, David Roach began his professional career drawing for 2000 AD. He worked on various strips for the self-styled Galaxy’s Greatest Comic between 1988 and 1992, when he made his US debut illustrating a 13-pager for issue #3 of Marvel’s creator-owned Epic anthology. Over the next three years he pencilled stories for both DC and Dark Horse contributing to such titles as Dark Horse Comics, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi – Knights of the Old Republic, Darkstars and Lobo before drawing 1996’s Batman/Demon one-shot. Much in demand as an inker especially on Doctor Who Magazine, Roach’s next major project was Star Trek: Voyager – Avalon Rising, a 2000 one-shot for DC’s WildStorm imprint following which he renewed his connection with 2000 AD. He remains an infrequent contributor to the UK SF weekly and to its companion title, Judge Dredd Megazine. While now spending much of his time working outside of comics (among other things he provides illustrations for role-playing game manuals and storyboards for films), the artist maintains his virtually continuous 16-year long relationship with Doctor Who Magazine. Primarily working as an inker for the Marvel UK title, he most recently illustrated 2015's two-chapter Highgate Horror. The co-author of 2014's The Art of Vampirella: The Dynamite Years for Dynamite (for which he also provides the occasional cover), Roach also wrote The Art of Jose Gonzalez for the New Jersey-based publisher the following year.
  2. We are very pleased to have PAUL CORNELL attending London Film and Comic Con as part of our Book Zone this year! Attending Sunday, Paul will be signing his books and taking part in an on stage panel. London Falling The dark is rising . . . Detective Inspector James Quill is about to complete the drugs bust of his career. Then his prize suspect Rob Toshack is murdered in custody. Furious, Quill pursues the investigation, co-opting intelligence analyst Lisa Ross and undercover cops Costain and Sefton. But nothing about Toshack’s murder is normal. Toshack had struck a bargain with a vindictive entity, whose occult powers kept Toshack one step ahead of the law – until his luck ran out. Now, the team must find a 'suspect' who can bend space and time and alter memory itself. And they will kill again. As the group starts to see London’s sinister magic for themselves, they have two choices: panic or use their new abilities. Then they must hunt a terrifying supernatural force the only way they know how: using police methods, equipment and tactics. But they must all learn the rules of this new game - and quickly. More than their lives will depend on it. Severed Streets A Jack the Ripper copycat, austerity-inspired budget cuts, a murdered MP and Neil Gaiman? It can only be the latest urban fantasy thriller from bestselling Doctor Who writer, Paul Cornell Summer in London: a city in turmoil. The vicious murder of a well-known MP is like a match to tinder but Detective Inspector James Quill and his team know that it's not a run-of-the-mill homicide. Still coming to terms with their new-found second sight, they soon discover that what is invisible to others - the killer - is visible to them. Even if they have no idea who it is. Then there are more deaths. The bodies of rich, white men are found in circumstances similar to those that set the streets of London awash with fear during the late 1800s: the Whitechapel murders. Even with their abilities to see the supernatural, accepting that Jack the Ripper is back from the dead is a tough ask for Quill's team. As they try to get to grips with their abilities and a case that's spiralling out of control, Quill realizes that they have to understand more about this shadowy London, a world of underground meetings, bizarre and fantastical auctions, and objects that are 'get out of hell free' cards. But the team's unlikely guide, a bestselling author, can't offer them much insight - and their other option, the Rat King, speaks only in riddles. Relying on old-fashioned police work and improvising with their new skills only lands them in deeper water, and they soon realize that the investigation is going to hell - literally. And if they're not careful, they may be going with it . . .
  3. We are pleased to add our latest author to the Book Zone line up SUZANNE MCLEOD Attending Sunday The Shifting Price of Prey, Book 4 in the Spellcrackers series: Sometimes a bit of magical help might cost more than you bargained for . . . London is hosting the Carnival Fantastique, and Genny's job has never been busier or more fulfilling. Only not everyone is so happy. Genny believed she’d cracked the fae’s infertility curse . . . but the fae are still barren. It’s a devastating plight to which the mysterious Emperor may have the solution – if Genny can find him. She needs help. She turns to the vampire Malik al-Khan, only to find he’s wrestling with his own demons and, when the police request Genny’s assistance with a magical kidnap, her own problems multiply too. Is it all unconnected, or can the Emperor help her solve more than the fae’s infertility? Soon Genny is hard on his trail, so it seems she’ll have a chance to ask . . . but will the answer cost more than she’s willing to pay?
  4. We are very pleased to announce our latest author for the Book Zone at LFCC MITCH BENN Attending Saturday Mitch has been a regular contributor to The Now Show on BBC Radio 4 since 1999, he has created his own radio series Mitch Benn's Crimes Against Music and regularly appears on BBC Radio 2's Steve Wright Show as the voice of Elvis. Mitch will be attending on the Saturday of LFCC to sign copies of Terra's World the greatly anticipated sequel to Terra published by Orion last year. Mitch will also be taking part in a Q&A at 10.45am, so have your questions ready. =) Terra: No-one trusts humanity. No-one can quite understand why we're intent on destroying the only place we have to live in the Universe. No-one thinks we're worth a second thought. And certainly no-one is about to let us get off Rrth. That would be a complete disaster. But one alien thinks Rrth is worth looking at. Not humanity, obviously, we're appalling, but until we manage to kill every other living thing on the planet there are some truly wonderful places on Rrth and some wonderful creatures living in them. Best take a look while they're still there. But on one trip to Rrth our alien biologist causes a horrendous accident. The occupants of a car travelling down a lonely road spot his ship (the sort of massive lemon-coloured, lemon-shaped starship that really shouldn't be hanging in the sky over a road). Understandably the Bradburys crash (interrupting the latest in a constant procession of bitter rows). And in the wreckage of their car our alien discovers a baby girl. She needs rescuing. From the car. From Rrth. From her humanity. And now 11 years later a girl called Terra is about to go to school for the first time. It's a very alien experience... TERRA is a charming and hilarious satirical fable. A story about how odd and alien we are. And a story about how human odd aliens are. It tells the story of a girl who grows up in a very different world, who gains a unique perspective on our world and a unique perspective on her new home. A girl who can teach us and them a lot. A girl living in an extraordinary world that is spiralling into a terrible war.
