  1. Domino's deliver there until 23:30 on a Friday and Saturday! You should have went there instead!!
  2. Not to be a pedant, but this is not a Hilton, it is a DoubleTree by Hilton. Different type of hotel with different standards, so would not expect to pay the same sort of price. Also its in a very different location to that of the Hilton Birmingham Metropole. :)
  3. Thanks for that. Though TBH I would argue that the security here have a requirement not to be identifiable, especially if they are throwing people to the ground. I would say that the CP work done at CM15 is different from the type of CP work that the covert licence condition is aiming at. As lets be honest, if you saw it was security coming at you at CM15 you would be more like to move out the way than if you thought it was just some guy barging through. But if they wish to be covert then so be it.
  4. Well its not just rude, it is assault. Even just placing a hand on someone can be classed as assault never mind throwing them to the ground. Even if your not sure on the details you can still report it to the police, I am sure the stadium has an extensive CCTV system. Also as SM say these are highly trained professionals they should know better and be able to handle crowds and move through them with out throwing girls about or pushing wheel chair users out the way. Also I never noticed any SIA identification on any of the security people? Was I not looking hard enough? As this is a legal requirement for security staff now. Having dealt with security teams for people with far higher profiles than the guests at the weekend, who perhaps are/where at risks of assassination, it can be done with a lot more subtlety. I fully understand the need for security, and I would be the first to back them putting down a trouble maker. But it should not put normal attendees at risk.
  5. Give the hotel a call and ask them about accepting US driving licenses as proof of age, it should not be an issue. Though I have to ask, and I don't want to sound cheeky, but if you have so much bad luck how do you know that where ever you are leaving your passport will not burn down and you will loose it anyway! No document is irreplaceable. Just a visit to the US embassy in London and away you go again. Regardless of what you bring, just relax and enjoy the weekend, you never know you may not need the ID!!
  6. I am driving down from Glasgow with a few friends! Had we know I am sure we could have put you in the boot or something!! See you there possibly.......
  7. But the Arean would make a great CQB area with all the stalls! Just think you could have an innocent bystander rule!
  8. Presume you are talking about the competition. I think its wise to bring a copy. You will also need to sign in at the cosplay area. LadyD will confirm this for you I am sure. :)
  9. Folks, just remember if your dressing up and it has a weapon. The Arena is attached to a shopping centre. So make sure you have a bag for carrying to to and from the enclosed area. Don't want any of you getting to meet the nice people of Strathclyde Police ARU! Firefly if you want to do your Stargate loadout I can supply belt, sidearm, P-90 and chest holster. You know I would do anything to see you looking so cute in that beard again! lol
  10. I think I may be the closest to the event, it take me longer to get out my flat and to the car than it does to drive to Breahaed!
  11. The squiggly line may well be her sig. Some actors change as they sign more and more through out the day. Their hand understandably gets sore. Imagine signing 1000 times in one day (probably more) and see how good you get. You may have just got her fresh and her writing was good.
  12. Whenever someone here mentions the "well they're all into football - men kicking a ball about" argument I think of the jocks vs nerds thing and detect some kinda resentment towrds them for being "the jocks". Football is accepted cos it has always been, it's a traditional past-time and is done outdoors and gets physical and thus is manly unlike our nerd/geek thing. I'm sure there's many people here who love football as much as fandom? I'm sure some of them/us would even meet the footie/sports stars at SportsMania or that other show in Bham? If you work in IT most people are ok with the whole sc-fi thing cos being on the internet and messing with computers and technology all the time is kinda associated with it all anyway although its a kinda sterotype to say techy people are all into sf. I can understand where you are coming from though for myself I really just do not like football. Growning up in Glasgow also made it that bit harder as there is the Celtic/Rangers Religious bigotry that come with it. Also I am not jealous of them being "jocks" (I really just don't like football) and most football fans are not fit, the players yes are fit. Fans on the whole no. But you can pick any hobby and belittle it. Football is just an easy one. It is stereotyping to say all IT folk are into SciFi. But stereotypes are usually there for a reason. I work in IT and most of my colleagues (work for a large international hotel company so there's a few of them) like SciFi in some form, but don't think that any would go to a convention. There are a few football fans (but no accounting for taste!)
  13. I have dual monitors and as my wallpaper I've a pic from AvP of the Predator and Alien taking up both screens. Also I have the 3-D posters of Alien and Robocop and used cinema stubs stapled to the partition in addition to the stuff I mentioned before - if you saw my desk it's like a movie museum or Forbidden Planet. Whenever I get a collectable action figure delivered to me at work I usually get a small crowd around my desk looking at my new toy. All this and no one says anything - maybe it's just they're arent like your A-holes or maybe it's just the way I caryy myself with it all. So where do you work then? Think we need to have a word with your IT manager, letting such customisation of company equipment!! With such a bad movie as AvP as well........ Oh and I have been doing con's for about 12 years and met many a friend through them. So will keep doing them for a good while to come I think. While I do not really get much hassle about my hobby, except the odd bit of good natured banter. As TT mentions, I know a group of people that religiously (from Glasgow) go stand out side for hours (regardless of weather), wearing the same thing watching 22 guy run around. Now that sounds stupid to me, at least we do ours in doors! (mostly) And hey I am happy to admit that I am a Geek to anyone.
  14. If your having more than 2 in a room (and I have done that a lot) you will be fine as long as your not causing trouble in the middle of the night and hid the airbed during the day if you want the room to be serviced. Though if you don't want the room to be serviced just leave the DND on all weekend and you should be fine. The hotel will have to state its policy and can't (as has been said) be seen to ignore it, as if anything happens they could be held liable. I had a double room at Eclipse and there is plenty of space for an air bed or possibly two!
  15. omg your such a man. I am with David on this one! You ladies talk about naked men and we don't say anything! But as soon as someone thinks about a naked Ali or Hayden or Kristen its all comes out!! Talk about sexist!! We should be able to talk about them all being naked or none.......
