There's 2 ways of doing this high prices and fewer attendees or reasonable prices and big crowds. I personally would have rather pay more and have a bit more room and shorter queues.

SM is a business that had no regard for health & safety on Saturday.

They also have a duty of health and safety to the guest remember. They are guests not slaves and you can't expect them to work non stop for 10 hours.

I never said anything about making the guests work non-stop for 10 hours. I was talking about health & safety for the ENTIRE event, which includes EVERYONE present. The queues outside the venue, the over-crowding inside the venue, the lack of aircon, the locked fire escapes..... do we need to go on because the list goes on.

I've seen these accusations made a couple of times. Has anyone published any pictures of these alleged locked fire escapes? H&S of the venue is in the domain of the Earls Court people. The dealers were made to wait before they got in each morning, because 'The Safety team is running through its checks' (thats a quote from the EC Security guy who was stopping us come in until 8).

The entry to EC2 is again within the remit of the EC staff and the Fire Brigade, who issue the licence. SM are going to let people in, until they are asked/told not to (which may or may not have been the case on Saturday, depending on who you listen to). If people want to queue outside for hours, when you can see the queue stretching all the way around the building, then that is their choice. At what point should SM have sent them away?

Finally, I was inside EC2 for 2 1/2 days. The aircon WAS on, but was no match for a full hall and 30 degrees outside. Its an old, giant, inefficient building, which means the Aircon is never going to be very effective. Before the crowds came in, it was noticable and through the day, you'd feel the odd burst from it.

It was poor organisation on everyone's part really but look at some of the posts recently. Extra Stan Lee sessions, the complicated entry post and asking for more crew for LFCC post. It wasn't great but it's wasn't Gaza or Hillsborough either. It was a popular event in London it was always going to be chaos. I am surprised there was no police there, you've got to think at Stamford bridge around the corner there would be police there. It might have kept a little order and stopped the queue jumps at least.

it could have been hillsborough if the fire alarm had gone off, especially in those little autograph bunkers that jenna coleman and john hurt were doing signings.... i would've hated to see how people would of got out of those enclosed spaces in a hurry, especially as there was no signs in there to show the evacuation route to the nearest emergency exit

EC2 Hall has massive exit/entry points that would be quickly opened in the case of an emergency. Someone drove a large truck into it on Friday during the set up!

  3. I do agree that traders should be limited to the number of items they get signed, IF everyone is limited. If a guest is quieter, then I don't care if someone gets 25 items, whether a dealer or a paying attendee.

That said, dealers could just join the queue multiple times, so in some ways, its better to get them sorted in one quick hit.

Just to note, I had a stall at LFCC and I was away from it for about a total of 2 hours across 2 1/2 days. Dealers really don't get much time away from their stock, which to a lot of them is their livelihood (thankfully not mine, or I'd be bankrupt!)

  4. I'd say that it depends. Some motion capture is just to get basic movements (such as for Sport games). To me, thats not acting. However, if an actor is trying to portray dialogue and physical expressions, then I'd personally class it as acting. I guess the issue is things like facial expressions and eyes are part of traditional acting and they are not directly in the control of the performer.

  5. As i said i have no idea what kind of room it was but i saw alot of people with lanyards with passes of some sort going into them carrying loads of posters and then returning empty. There where one or two in blue showmasters shirt but the absolute majority was in normal clothes so to speak. The door was right beside where kenny baker and David prowse where sitting.

Dealers had wristbands, so if the people you saw were in lanyards, they were more likely crew, staff or VIPs. There was definitely no side room/store room for dealers.

  6. Yeah i got very anxious saturday evening as i had to que outside for almost 6 hours i barely met anyone of the guests i wanted to meet so was there extra early on sunday with a upgraded ticket. Got in got my VQ´s and met the guests i wanted that wasnt very busy and then waited around for my numbers on the bigger guests to come. I sat down right next to the exit for VIP/Guests and a door to wich i guess was a dealers storage room as i during the 1 hour or so i sat there atleast 10 dealers walked by with so many copies of the same signed star wars posters that they needed both hands to carry them. This made it feel even worse when i didnt get to see Carrie Fisher as she left a couple of hours early the SM staff told me when i asked why the que was gone :(

Managed to get to meet Ian and despite him surely have had a long day he showed obvious care for my item when he asked me what colour he should sign it with to get the best result, was also very polite. With the Money i spared on Carrie i Went back to George Romero to get a auto for my cousin and asked the staff at summer´s desk if it was oki to get 3 autos instead of the 2 i had planned. Felt like a criminal almost by doing so as i didnt wanna stop anyone else from seeing her so when asked if i wanted it personalised i declined and tried to get out of the way asap. She was also very friendly despite at that time being over VQ 700.

Was mentioned that dealers could have a time outside of the public signings to get numerous items signed and i Think that sounds like a really good idea. 5 is a more than enough top limit to get signed. I have never Before had as many as 3 items signed by one person so thught even that amount was at the upper end. Now i missed Carrie and doubt i will get a second chance and she was one of my main reasons for going. I hope they Control more harder the nr of autos you can get next time.

Couple of things, I was a dealer at the LFCC (I only had three separate, personal items signed, by three different guests) and I'm sure there was no 'dealers storage room'. All stock was kept either on the stall, or off-site in a vehicle. It could be you were looking into a Showmasters room, if they get stuff signed for some of their team? If that is the case, then one person getting 30 things signed for crew, is quicker than 30 different crew getting stuff signed for themselves.

Secondly, the dealers can't get stuff signed 'out of hours'. Usually, the guests arrive on or around opening time (or much later) and generally leave on or before the time that the show closes. I tried to get Edward James Olmos' autograph at 17.55 on the Friday and was told that I needed to wait until 6, so its possible they are only contracted for certain times (he was one of the first guests seated on the Friday).

I received a message via Facebook from an old 'friend' of yours. I emailed a screen grab of it to your info email address, but you might want to keep a look out for it.

  8. I have just had a look and the reason is it was effectively breaking the no advertising rule.

Thanks for the swift response, but I'm not sure how it was advertising? I don't work for the company that makes it and its clearly not advertising anything in competition with SM.

Weirdly, I made two posts PRIOR to the event, talking about the free demonstrations and they weren't deleted!

    ++edit++

I've checked the rules and am more baffled! I didn't provide any external links and was not selling anything. All I was doing was thanking those who participated by playing a game that I'm a fan of!

  9. Hi Mods, any idea why my post from earlier today was moved/deleted? I was just thanking people for coming to play a board game at LFCC. I'm not aware of it having broken any rules.

  10. Hi guys, I don't think Dark Cleo are retailers, they are there to let people have a play with a variety of games. There are normally a couple of games stalls there selling stuff.

I'm going to be there too, running demonstrations of Zombicide (but not selling the product), so I'm looking forward to meeting some fellow board gamers.

We got a shout out on Twitter from Geek and Sundry, so hopefully word is getting out!

  11. The various under 16 football games on throughtout both saturday and today probably contributed a bit to the extra traffic on site. That said, I had no problems with parking on either day and I arrived around 9:30am on both. Today it was much quieter and I could park closer, but there were stewards about yesterday (on the side where gate 4 is). I think there were only a couple though, so if you came in whilst they were looking for a spaces you could end up driving around.

However, for those complaining they wouldn't come here again, you need to remember this is a football stadium and not a convention centre It has limited parking on site. There are, however, many free parking spaces in the surrounding industrial estates over the weekend (which those of us who live local and attend the football use). I guess SM may not know/promote this but if you look you will find it, and it is only a 5 minute walk to the stadium....hardly an inconvenience if you don't want to navigate the car park.

Or... you can park at Asda....

I'm baffled by the complaints, what other event has a large amount of free parking? If you go to the Centre at Milton Keynes now, its pay and display almost anywhere and at the NEC its about £6 to park a half mile away!

  12. I think referring to it as 'something new' is pushing it a bit, especially given the timing!

What said, I'm very interested to see where they go with this. Its not an easy thing to pull off, given the relatively low amount of source material and guests to pull from

  13. A great announcement. Now more of a "returning Retired Diva" for special one offs as she fronts a great band called the Luchagors. I wonder if they can pull off a major coup and get her to bring her Boyfriend? Then it will be a straight edge event!!! :band:

I agree, with her dating CM Punk and him being off RAW at the moment, he would be a MASSIVE guest for the event!

  14. Hi all

So my weekend is starting to look like a busy one just wondering when the queues for entry normally start, want to be there nice and early for the VQs

Often, it depends on when you want to (or have to) leave. If you're happy to mill about all day, then you're generally not going to have to be there for 6am! C:MK is a really chilled out event and my recommendation is to have a wander round and see which guests are taking their time with attendees. Those ones I'd queue for first, because they might not make it through their VQ. Karen Gillen is a great signer, in that she's attentive, but efficient and has gone open queue at most events.

  15. tough question??? because who do WE call BIG guests? We all know that the SO called BIG guests simply won't come calling? because they don't need the money to come to these type of events and I don't mean or intend any disrespect to anyone at all because a BIG guest to myself may be a Minor to someone else?

Ken Kirzinger for example MASSIVE guest for myself HUGE, yet Kens a stuntman before Actor!! hope I am making sense here people.....another HUGE person for myself was Tom Morga another stuntman yet hes played Myers,Chainsaw massacre and Voorhees....hope I'm making sense again with this call aswell...

    so my question would be:

What do you mean by BIG NAMES?

once again I would like to reiterate that I mean NO disrespect to ANYONE at all with this reply....We all have different ideas of BIG NAMES.

I would suggest that a big name is someone who is going to draw big crowds, who is going to signs thousands of autographs over the weekend and will near sell out of photo shoot tickets. Big names are irrelevant to individual taste, because even if a handful of forum users don't like/know them, they will still draw big queues.

would you say Danny Dyer was a BIG Name?

No, I would say that he's not a headline guest. The number of people coming because he was there is likely to have been way less than say those coming for Shatner, or Tennant or Stewart.

I don't know how many photo shoot tickets he sold, but I'd be surprised if it was >1000.

Also, the auto price is another indicator.
