  1. All depends on how long the Friday night Drinks Reception lasts!!! Someone pass the Alka-Seltzer
  2. I have in the past and there has never been a problem. This show is normally a lot more relaxed then the other SM events and as a rule of thumb less attended, so getting in has never been a problem.
  3. Get off the Underground at Terminal 1,2 & 3 and follow the signs to the Central Bus Station, a 5 minute walk at most. All the buses are reliable it just depends what time you are getting there for.
  4. Hi Dave, I had ordered a ticket for the Saturday of the original show. But since the date change I can now only make the Sunday. Am I right in thinking I can exchange it the Saturday early bird for a Sunday early bird on the day?
  5. I think the by logo you mean the SM 'watermark' on the digital photos available from the Photo Shoot Library http://showmasters.photoshelter.com/ On the day you get a print of your photo shoot and there will be no logo on it. If you want to digitally download the photo afterward you can order it from the library, for a small fee, once they are uploaded. When you download your photo there is no logo on it, the logo is on it in the store to stop people copying the image without paying for it.
  6. You can buy vouchers from the sales desk with your credit card & use them for autographs. BUT I seem to remember last time with Buzz it was either cash or credit card, vouchers weren't being accepted. We could do with confirmation on this. I also remember there being a problem with the credit card machine the first time he was here that caused a bit of a hold up. Personally I'd use cash. I understand people don't like carrying large amounts around but for me it's the easier & quicker option.
  7. I'd imagine it would cost £385. Photo-shoot prints are smaller then A4, about 6x8.
  8. I think Count Fooku is on about this guy -http://m.franksautographs.com By far and away the best way to store your autographs.
  9. I agree the price is steep (well out of my price range) but there is some thinking behind it. At the moment on ebay you can get an authenticated Armstrong autograph on a photo of the Apollo 11 crew for $3500. For the same photo with all 3 crew members autographs, Armstrong, Collins & Aldrin, the seller is asking $8995 (although they are open to offers ). By adding Buzz's autograph to an item already signed by Armstrong and Collins you would be increasing the value of the item by about 3 times. So the thinking is if adding Buzz's autograph vastly increases it's value then why shouldn't Buzz charge more as he would be making you quite wealthy? I'm not saying I agree with it but that's the thinking behind the pricing. P.S. happy 400th post day to me It's only taken 8 years.
  10. No it meant if you had an item already signed by Armstrong or Armstrong & Collins then you would be charged £915 to have it autographed by Buzz. As far as I can remember Buzz didn't bring over any personal items to sell at Autographica.
  11. Just as an FYI on this topic all NASA images are free of copyright (and their human spaceflight gallery is pretty much the most awesome place to find images). Once downloaded you can get some great deals on prints. I've just picked up a 14x11 print of Rusty Schweickart's Apollo 9 EVA for just £6 that is different then the standard 'photo from inside the LM' that is normally available for him to sign.
  12. I know he has done a few of these shows but how about Sir Stirling Moss? He has a new book out so maybe he could use the event to help publicize it. Also, I ask for Alan Alda each year to make my girlfriend the happiest person in the world.
  13. The event scheduled will be released closer to the day. Rule of thumb about a week before the show.
  14. Excellent announcement. I've been looking forward to having him sign my copy of his book. Thanks for getting him back Dave.
  15. That is pretty much an individual decision. If, & there is no way of knowing, this was Buzz's last autograph show could you live with yourself knowing you passed up the opportunity to meet him? Sailing as close to the forum rules as possible, I'm suspecting you have already paid for the Jim Lovell event. So with that already in the bank why not try to save up to meet Buzz as well? By the way, I met Buzz a few Autographica's ago & was blown away by the experience. Since then his autograph price has only gone up so if he does attend again in the future you have to think he will cost more then at this Autographica.
  16. I heartily endorse this comment.
  17. Kinda thought this may happen with all the date changes. Deep sigh & fingers crossed Dave can work his magic for a future show. Do we need to contact you directly about photo shoot refunds or will they be done automatically?
  18. Just to add a footnote at the recent one off Jerry Ross event there was one guy who was getting around 90 autographs on large multi-signed Shuttle prints. He wasn't a dealer per say but I did overhear him say the prints would be his retirement fund. It's because of these big spenders that it was financially possible to get Jerry to the UK. I know compering the two events is like compering apples to oranges, due to attendance levels, but dealers do spend big money & that allows SM to book guests & we benefit by being able to meet them. In a footnote to the footnote the not dealer dealer at the Jerry Ross event was extremely well mannered. He got his items signed in small batches & when he saw a queue forming he would stand aside to let everyone else meet Jerry. Not your typical dealer behaviour.
  19. Everyone is an individual and their reasons for collecting are different. For example in media I normally keep my collection to Star Wars (if I started collecting LOTR, GOT or anything else I enjoy watching I'd be broke by now, and don't even get me started on my sports or astronaut autograph collection) so I got John Ratzenberger's autograph on a Star Wars 8x10. But I am also a huge fan of Cheers so took advantage of his attendance to get a Cheers beer mug autographed as well. To me, personally, having his autograph on only one of these items wouldn't have reflected his performance in the other production that I also enjoyed watching as I grew up. Of course that's only my reason for getting more then one autograph from one particular actor, every collector will have their own reasons. Out of interest, and I am by no means having a go, if you only want an autograph do you collect them in an autograph book or on index cards instead of a photo of the actor? I only ask because autographing photos and posters is relatively new to the hobby. If you look at dealers stalls most of the autographs from actors of yesteryear are on cards or cut outs mounted along with a photo of the actor.
  20. Yes there is still a free bus. This page gives you details; http://www.heathrow.com/transport-and-directions/buses-and-coaches/local-buses This is a map of the Free Bus Routes, you need any bus going past the Heathrow Academy; http://www.heathrow.com/file_source/Heathrow/Static/PDF/Transport_and_directions/travel_around_Heathrow.pdf
  21. Jason, catching your after event thoughts is always an interesting read & shines a light on stuff a lot of con goers wouldn't even think about. It also shows that Showmasters continues to listen, keeps improving & works hard to produce the best events for fans. Not everyone will be happy, some justified some less so, but I personally had a great time. Keep it going, onwards & upwards.
  22. robertderidder I think we'll have to agree to disagree before we both go far off topic. Yes I agree that as a new con goer some people would have no idea what to expect. But with that in mind it's total unthinkable to me that a new con goer wouldn't have researched what to expect. I know we're going around in circles here so I'll leave it...until next time
  23. Don't think the comparison between LFCC and the cinema really works. When you go the cinema you buy one ticket to do one thing at one time in a purpose built building with full time employees. LFCC had multiple attractions a various times in a large multipurpose venue with a fantastic group of volunteers who do an amazing job but are only volunteers and can't possibly have information on every aspect of the show. I also get not nearly everyone one will use the forum but that comes back to preparation. At the top of the event home page it gives a link to the forum. If you click on any of the announced guests it gives links to the forum. If you click on the FAQ page there's a link to the...wait for it...forum. Again maybe it's just me but if I'm doing an activity or an event I do my research and plan what I am going to do using every resource I can find.
  24. The simply solution is to bring your own photos/items to have signed. I know that adds to the price of collecting (paying for a print, p&p, etc...) but this way you know you have a quality print of the image you want & you don't have to worry about stock levels. SM events are unique in giving free photos when you buy an autograph, a lot of other events don't have prints or charge you for poor quality prints.
