  1. Im not even getting involved M. I'll be having words next time I see you
  2. Mmmmmmmmm!!! That's been the one home game I couldn't get to. Think It'll be a while until I see Everton in European football again. Well I'm glad SOMEONE has had a good time at Goodison Park this season. I don't know many Blues who have enjoyed them selves so far Well, it might all turn around after our next two games...Arsenal AND Man Utd
  3. Thanks gebes, guess I'll just have to keep looking on the forum. Not sure how this turned into an O.J. Simpson thread, but you're all naughty people.....very funny, but still naughty people
  4. Just wondering if there is anyone else being lined up for the show and when we might find out about them? Want to make sure I can get photos if needs be. I know there would be some at the show but I'm a fussy git when it comes to what I like to have signed
  5. Try these- prints.paphotos.com Not the greatest selection of photos but they do have a black & white of Hurst and Wilson carrying Bobby Moore. 10x8 costs £9.99 plus postage. www.thesportarchive.com They only seem to do A3 and A4, but there's a great black and white shot of Geoff Hurst heading his first in the 1966 final. www.mediastorehouse.com By far the best site I've found up until now. The famous photo of Hurst scoring his hat trick, and a 10x8 costs £6.99 plus postage. Don't think you can argue with that. They also have a huge selection and some great colour shots as well.
  6. Could SM/anyone tell me when they will be confirming the days each guest will be attending and the prices for autographs? Could you also tell me if the sports guests will be charging more to sign sports equipment i.e. shirts, footballs, boxing gloves etc... Looking forward to a great event at a venue I've never been to before.
  7. It's got to be the Crime Con for me so I can keep the Mrs happy I know she would love to go to something like this, though I have a funny feeling it may cost me a small fortune. The price of love eh?!
  8. Just for general interest, A1 Sporting Speakers took over the old Big Blue Tube website (and all their remaining stock) when BBT went bust. It was great for a while because A1 sold a lot of BBT stuff off cheaply through eBay. Sadly they don't any more Now A1 has 2 sites, that might be why it looks odd. Try the BBT site if you can't find what you are after. As for the original topic, I'd happily pay £100 to meet Pele. Still can't believe I missed his book tour. I remember hearing about the Coventry fiasco. Am I right in thinking it all happened at a superstore (Tesco springs to mind)?
  9. Don't know how many of you folks are signed up to the A1 Sporting Collectables newsletter, but the last one had an offer to meet Pele this Monday. A limited number of people will have their photo taken with Pele & also receive a shirt signed by the footballing legend. All for a reasonably priced £3000 per couple! I'd love to meet the guy, but it would have to be a little closer to my working class budget.
  10. I agree the show would be better staying at a shopping centre, but it might be an idea to go on the road. I realise Show Masters want to have the show at a central location to attract as many people as possible, but (and no offence to anyone) Milton Keynes isn't the first city you would associate with sport and I'd suggest moving to another city with a greater sporting heritage. For example my home town of Liverpool. Two huge football teams to base a themed show around (i.e. footballers from one or both of the clubs) and a massive new shopping centre right in the heart of the city to stage the show. A few other suggestions- London - lots of shopping centres and dozens of teams (and different sports to football) to base a show around. Manchester - again, two popular football teams plus the home of Lancashire County Cricket Club and Sale Sharks. The Arndale Centre could easily accommodate Sports Mania, but if you could get it into The Trafford Centre you'd do tonnes of business. Birmingham - yes we all know about another show that's based there. But what about using a venue like The Bullring? Plus Birmingham is the country's central location as well as being a hot bed for football, cricket and many other sports. While football players are among the most recognisable sporting personality's Show Masters should try to get stars from other sports. That is what was so great about the first Sports Mania. Another thing Show Masters might want to look at is advertising. Not coming from Milton Keynes I don't know what was done locally, but I saw nothing nationally. I'm not saying it's easy or cheep but you have to get the word out. You can't rely on 1 web site, a few hard core collectors and what ever passing shoppers stop by. There are plenty of sports based publications with advertising space. Get Sports Mania in there. Sports Mania has the potential to be massive, but it needs to be kept fresh and it needs to be known about.
  11. Just another suggestion. With the Olympics happing this year could SM try and get a few Olympic legends in? A couple I can think of are: Sally Gunnel, Seb Coe, Kelly Holmes, Duncan Goodhew, Daley Thompson, Denise Lewis, Jonathan Edwards, Tessa Sanderson, Steve Redgrave, Mary Peters, Michael Johnson, Carl Lewis (if only ), the GB 4x100m winning squad from the last Olympics and I’d also ask for Linford Christie if it wasn’t against today’s PC society. What do you think SM?
  12. I’m just glad Sports Mania 2 is happening. I know a lot of these guests were there last time but for a free to enter event you have to have recognizable faces. Yes, most football fans will know the captain of the 1970 Brazilian team, but your average shopper in a shopping center wouldn’t have a clue, so wouldn’t want to meet him. As for Jack Charlton, well everyone knows who he is. Would make a suggestion though, the other event seems to base its self around 2 sports. Might be an idea for SM2 to look at rugby and cricket players to widen its appeal.
  13. Does anyone know how likely it is that CSI con will come off? I'll be honest with you, I like the show but probably wouldn't attend. BUT, my girlfriend loves all the CSI's and I know she would love a show like this. If Showmasters are reading this, I'm talking about her spending hundreds and hundreds of pounds!!! And I would assume most people posting on this forum would say the same. But like all things, the sooner people know if/when and where it's going to happen the better. So come on Showmasters, make it happen.
  14. I'd love to meet the Top Gear crew. But I don't think they should be at Sportsmania. Test driving sports cars isn't the same as driving them in a race (and yes, I did see the episode were they took part in a 24 hour race). Think it would be best if they could be brought in for a more entertainment based Showmasters event. I defiantly pay to see them there.
  15. How about some sports stars from America? There is a large group of people in the UK who love to watch American sports (as the recently sold out ice hockey, basketball and American football games in London prove). If a big name could be persuaded to come over, and it was marketed in the right way, I think they would be a big hit. Events like Sportsmania happen all the time in the US so US stars may be willing to come over to participate. People I'd like to meet; Wayne Gretzky (ice hockey) Michael Jordan (basketball) Dan Marino (American football) Joe Montana (American football) Carl Lewis (athletics) Michael Johnson (athletics) Evander Holyfield (boxing) George Foreman (boxing) Anyone got any more suggestions? 16. Please, please, please make this happen. My girlfriend would spend a furtune at a CSI show. And she wouldn't be able to argue when I go to the next Sports Mania Event
  17. A big thank you to all involved in putting this show together. It was worth the 5 hours on many trains to get there. I can't wait till the next one.
  18. Fantastic day! Loved every minute of it. Just wish I had had more money to spend A big thank you to all at Showmasters, Sports Mania & all the crew that helped out. Top job done by all Noticed the flyer for next year. Think I'm going to start putting some cash away for it. Once again, many thanks to all.
  19. Will having programs & books signed be same price as photos, or will we be charged the £10 extra?
  20. Oh if only!!! Meeting Wayne would be amazing. But in all honesty, what are the chances of getting him over to the UK?
  21. Hey Aspen, hope this dosen't break the forum rules on advertiseing (sorry if it does), but you can get an authentic 2003 Gilbert official match ball at www.rfu.com Follow the link for 'The Rugby Store' then look on the left for 'SPECIAL OFFERS'. From the list that appears underneath 'SPECIAL OFFERS' you need to click on 'Training/Equipment'. You can find the ball at the bottom of the page. Sorry for going through it step by step but I'm pants when it comes to the whole internet thing Anyway, the ball is a bit pricey at £50 + postage. But imagine how good it would look with a few autographs on it Hope this is of some help.
  22. Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum so be gentle with me I'm looking forward to meeting the 1966 & 2003 World Cup winning teams. What's the chances of getting Martin Johnson to appear? I have to agree with most of the suggestions above, but I'm a little surprised no golfers have been mentioned. Think Woods, Els & Mickelson may be a little busy But the likes of Faldo, Woosnam, Lyle, Torrance & maybe even Ballesteros might be interested. The 2007 Open is only a month after this show, so some of the really big worldwide names might be in the country. Jack Nicklaus would be the icing on the cake. Other sporting legends I'd love to meet would be Wayne Gretzky & Richard Dent. Though I don't think there would be I big demand for them (please, somebody, prove me wrong). Finaly Michael Johnson & Carl Lewis. I know most of my suggestions are from the US but thats because I've had the chance to meet most of my British sporting hero's, though if anyone from the Ashes winning team could turn up that would be fantastic. When it comes to events such as this, a lot depends on the personality of the people appearing. Two of the best I've had the pleasure to meet are Joe Frazier & Shane Warne. Both could not have been any nicer if they had tried.
