  1. Hi all just a curious query here to get you all thinking. What is the ultimate aim in collecting autographs? I have been collecting autos since collectormania 3 in MK and had a few just before then with a balance of personalised and others not. I keep them in acid free sleeves in ring binders and peroidically display a few in frames on the wall. I also have a collection of carded and boxed Dr Who figures/ sets signed by the relevant people. But i cant help but think what will be become of all my collection when i am no longer here? Will it be worth anything at all? The majority of you fellow collectors no doubt have the same autos as me and to add to that those guests have done numerous signings and on top of that again not just in this country. For example Kenny Baker in years to come is not going to be worth anything due to the sheer volume he has signed over the years. I dont want to come across as a mercenary or anything like that where only the money side of things matter but looking at it objectively its the only way to look at it surely? When it comes to valuations etc surely the money aspect is going to come up at some point? I have two daughters one 14 years and the other one 5 months old so no doubt everything will be left to them but if the whole collection in general is not going to be worth jack then do i stop now or carry on well into my 60s? lol. When i mentioned earlier about other people having the same autos as me i dont expect EVERYONE to have exactly the same amount AND selection of autos as me but there wouldnt be much difference i bet. Over the years i have now amassed a total of 430 + 10x8 photos not to mention the various books magazines figures posters that have been signed too. Any thoughts on this would be nice and would love to read other peoples thoughts on it and if anyone feels the same way too. I sadly cannot make it to EMS but will definitly be going to Autographica and who knows this may be my last show.....
  2. All very well as long as they dont cancel two days before the event.
  3. Hi i know a topic of this has been locked but can anyone tell me if the ems site has been repaired or is just my laptop that refuses to display it? i just want to know whats going on with it as i cannot see the main page showing the guests i cant budget etc etc. Cheers for any info/help on this.
  4. Hello can anyone please please help me in tracking down a suitable image of Mr Landau from Sleepy Hollow ? As i have looked and looked and cannot find a suitable one to use to print off on a 10x8 size photo. Any help in this matter would be much appreciated. Many thanks guys.
  5. O M G Catherine Schell? is she a definite? according to the price list and days listing yes she is but no sign on the main page or no announcment of her. Please please tell me she is going as i have been after her for a long time and i have two totally cracking 10x8 photos of her from City Of Death to sign. If this is true and she is definitley going you have so made my day and whith the other major guests going this is truly shaping up to be one hell of a show thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you etc etc PS THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Guests?

Hi yes i know that Mr Tennant is already confirmed, but please try and see it from our point of view. I cannot commit to a show that only has one guest in attendance. Yes i know its David Tennant but he is no longer a virgin guest for Showmasters there is a pun there somewhere lol. Any guests announced within the next week would seriously make me reconsider me going. I would love to go but we all need time to plan and budget ahead. Come on guys you know who you got lined up whats the big secret?
  7. Whlist i was in the q for Thomas Dekker (after my fourth attempt to meet him as he wasnt there) i looked up and saw someone who was the total spitting image of Nako Mori oh wait a minute it was her so what was that about? really annoyed as i could have brought my Torchwood print for her to sign and COMPLETE IT.
  8. Instead of giving away free posters etc maybe a free can of deoderant would be better. But having said that some people wouldnt know what is and what its for anyway.... I must say when we finally turned up at the venue at 9.40am (thanks to the traffic and roadworks) i was actually taken aback by the sheer numbers of people waiting outside i thought oh well thats that then. I mean waiting 40 minutes to get in to a show what the hell was that about? then i found out why... TWO people at the first desk taking the money and giving the tickets out? I had a list of 8 guests that were only there Saturday so i thought if i just get those today i would be happy but by some miracle i managed to get all 8 of those and plus another nine which left me with only four to get on the Sunday. BUT that did not mean to say i had an easy ride. SOME of the crew were helpful and knew what i was talking about but others just didnt know or seem to care and having to write your own name on the ticket for a personalisation as she was too busy just sitting there at the desk doing nothing.... Also having a handful of VTs for a load of guests which were redundant by the fact that those guests were hardly there at the table signing autographs because surprise surprise they were at photoshoot talk etc. I mean im sorry but i go to these shows to meet guests and get autographs but how can i do this if the guests are elsewhere? I know they cant be chained to the desk all the time but i kid you not i went back to a few guests three /four times and they were still doing other things. I thought i was never going to get Mitch Pileggi as he was going at the exciting rate of 10 autos an hour. No disrespect intended to him personally but i was starting to get a bit wound up about it. And as for crew telling people not to run well if the guests were not put right at the other end of the venue and we didnt have to do a marathon then we wouldnt be tempted to run, i mean i was bloody knackerd by the time i got to my first VT holder. But for all the gripes i did attend the two days and enjoyed most of it but i still wonder just how the hell i managed to get all 22 autos i wanted. Basically just get there as early as possible and sacrifice a lot to just get my autos... Just hope that next years show will be better as in better run and organised
  9. I had a lot of personalisations which was nice and was very suprised when John Simm was personalising . lovely guy true gent and still cannot believe i met him. At the end of the day its your personal choice to have your photo with your name on it In a perfect world get one of each but with guests prices rising thats not really an option now. That leads me to my next point where you could buy a Gillian Anderson from a dealer for £30
  10. Bear with me but my list (so far) Gillian Anderson X 2 10x8 photos (one just Mulder & Scully the other photo a triple shot with Skinner) John Simm X 2 10x8 photos & End Of Time Figure Of The Master Norman Reedus x 2 10x8 Photos & Daryl Walking Dead Figure Jeri Ryan x 1 10x8 Nicholas Lea x 1 10x8 Adam Baldwin x 1 10x8 (From Predator 2) Michael Winslow x 1 10x8 (From Spaceballs) Mitch Pileggi x 2 10x8 (one of these is a triple shot see Gillian Anderson above) Thomas Dekker x 2 10x8 (one on his own & the other a triple shot already signed by Lena Heady) Tom Skerritt x 2 10x8 one shot on his own the other a cast shot from Alien(wish i had this and started it earlier) Al Leong x 1 10x8 Elizabeth Dennehy x 1 10x8 Terry Richards x 1 Arab Swordsman 12 inch figure William Russell x 2 10x8 one on his own as Ian Chesterton the other with Susan Foreman & the Dr Who Radio Times 10TH Magazine Charles Dance x 1 10x8 as Clemens from Alien 3 Michael Socha x 2 10x8 Kate Bracken x 2 10x8 Kieron Jecchinis x 1 10x8 Ralph Ineson x 1 10x8 (from Harry Potter for my Daughter) Simon Williamson x 1 Star Wars Vintage Figure Print Jeremy Bulloch x 1 10x8 of Boba Fett on his own & 1 12x16 print of four of the six Bounty Hunters So as i said a bit of a list but hey thats the eternal curse of being a collector....
  11. Yes i totally agree, i always bring my ten yes ten different coloured RETRACTABLE sharpies and if there is a photo that really could be set off with a certain colour i always take the opportunity. For example last year Alex Kingston used my orange sharpie on her sonic screwdriver box and it really sets it off. Elizabeth Sladen photo from the SJA and in the pic she was in a red cardigan so i asked if she would use the red sharpie, with the light background as well it really enhanced the overall item. The possibilities are endless. I always look at the photo the background and what the character is wearing and if i have a suitable pen to match i always ask. Remember if you dont ask you dont get. Retractable sharpies are the best as you dont have to worry about the top of the pen IE it getting lost or left behind on the desk. And as said before if you are forking out £30 plus for ONE autograph then having it written in whatever pen YOU prefer SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM. Another tip as well is i have a lot of black and white photos that are signed in blue trust me you wont be dissapointed. The amount of times i have had comments made by the guests themselves after they have signed my photos in blue on a B&W shot is incredible. Hope my input helps.
  12. Well what can i say? you guys have done it again many many thanks for this didnt expect any new being human guests dont know why just thought it was a programme that as far as organised events are concerned had more or less forgotten about....
  13. Well as far as i can see as Mr Eccleston is performing at the National Theatre until the 21 of July then you never know it could be him. There was a time when i thought certain guests would NEVER appear that these shows but over the years i have been proved wrong. As i have always been under the illusion that Mr Simm had no wish or desire to do any signing event of ANY kind to casually announce him on the forum like that was enough to nearly give me a cardiac. Keep up the good work dudes and anymore "latest guest announcements" will definitly make me flatline.... As a PS i would not be at all suprised if Mr Mulder turned up i mean anything could happen now after todays postings.......
  14. Well being the who fan that i am i for one am hyped up to Gallifrey that William Russell has been announced i mean he was only on of the four ORIGINAL CAST MEMBERS. A very rare opportunity here people dont miss out. I know its the same old thing you cant please everyone all the time but hey look at how many GOT guests are going. Basically there are so many fandom/franchises to be had you just cannot please every single fan/collector from every single franchise in existence. If that were possible then you would need a venue the size of a Death Star sorry "Death Star" And the logistics and money needed for such a venue would be immense. If youre not a Dr Who fan fine but lets not crow on about oh we have a load of Dr Who guests again. Yeah pity isnt it as its really popular and made in the UK and celebrates his 50TH ANNIVERSARY NEXT YEAR.... PS for get the silence the autograph police are coming.....
  15. With the timely news about Mr Baldwin how about making a big Predator fan happy by announcing Maria Conchita Alonso or Rueben Blades? Maybe Bill Paxton? Know im pushing here but Danny Glover? He would probably reply that hes too old for this s*** But hey you never know. But dont stop with Predator 2 how about some more guys from Predator? or Colin Salmon from AvP and the lovely Sanna Latham from same film or anyone from AvP Requiem? Just a thought as if you dont ask you dont get. As this show is shaping up nicely already but the cherry on top of the icing on top of the cake would totally awesome. Take care you guys. Ps NEVER MIND THE SILENCE THE AUTOGRAPH POLICE ARE COMING......
  16. We parked round the corner of the stadium and was in the q outside around 7.45 AM on the Friday and on the Saturday not much later than that and on Sunday was there again around the 8AM mark All three days parked without any hassles. Pity about the weather but at least we could wait in the dry once the doors were opened. The only gripe was we were herded in like cattle before the opening at 9AM. And once inside went (where we were directed) in the wrong direction for Lena Heady on the Saturday. Ended up doing the complete circuit of the concourse and my VT was 125 for her. Still i managed to meet her but if i missed out on her purely due to going the wrong way i wouldnt be impressed. Not wanting to put negative aura on the forum but these little mishaps can have huge repurcussions in the long run.
  17. Too true, a total gent and a joy to meet, he was the first doctor that i saw on tv back in 1975, it was the sonataran experiment i think. I had six items of mine signed by him this time round so i think im pretty much sorted for Tom now. But as its the 50th anniversary next year lord knows what figures or exclusive items will be released that will be just crying out to get signed. I just find it ironic that he didnt want to participate in the 20th anniversary story the five doctors and yet he was in a five doctors photoshoot lol. All the best Tom and come back again soon.
  18. Well i had a fantastic three day weekend of fun and buying and getting autos. FRIDAY: Sean Astin x 1 Jason Momoa x 2 Nichele Nichols x 1 Carl Weathers x 1 Brandon Routh x1 Kenny Baker (to complete my double shot) SATURDAY : Karen Gillan x 1 David Bradley x 2 Tom Baker x 6 Sylvester McCoy x 3 David Banks x 4 Paul McGann x 1 Jeff Rawle x 2 Wendy Padbury x 1 Malcolm Tierney x 1 John Barrowman x 1 Peter Davison x 4 Lena Heady x 2 Phil LaMarr x 1 SUNDAY : Willie Thorne x 1 Joe Johnson x 1 Shaun Dingwell x 2 Deborah Watling x 1 Roxanne McKee x 1 So expensive weekend but way worth it. Going on the Friday really really helps and to anyone who says they couldnt get guest A B or C as it was too busy should really make the effort to go on the Friday. I cannot get to the LFCC this year but if i could my total so far is 13 guests and 8 of those are there on the Friday. The weather did put a dampner on things (esp when youre trying to keep your precious recently signed items dry) But that cant be helped i know but still... Plenty of seating and toilets which makes a change. This was my first collectormania since you changed venues so it made a nice fresh change. It was well worth going just to see the reaction of one customer who was slighty annoyed but only slighty mind that you have to pay for the autograph on your own personel item, shock horror what ever next? Well someone did collapse in the Cineworld cinema on Saturday eve but i think that was a reaction to how much they charge for food and drink!!!!! All in all well worth it and looking forward as ever to the next one which will be EMS or Autographica. Cheers guys.
  19. OMG awesome one guys. Now we really really need Summer Glau to get to this one now. Please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please. Um well i can ask cant i? Keep up the good work guys. PS please? Forget the Silence the autograph police are coming.
  20. Well i for one am really happy about the MIXTURE of guests esp the Dr Who ones. You cant please everyone all the time, but as others have said theres plenty of time left to add more guests. If youre not happy with the guest line up then wait until another show comes up that meets your specific requirements. I am totally gutted that i cannot make this years LFCC which has a bloody fantastic line up of guests. The one thing that really p***** me off is the waiting outside queing minding my own business then suddenly as if by magic no concept of que man appears. This has happened on more than one occasion and yes it is the same guy so lets see if he weaves his unique skills and talent again this year by appearing as if by magic and totally disregards the line of people who no doubt have qued just a tad longer than him. As a foot note, forget the silence the Autograph Police are coming...
  21. Would it at all be possible to get MAIN characters from this fantastic series? well i say main ANYBODY would be cool. And im sure they would be very popular. I know Norman Reedus is attending the LFCC but sadly i am unable to make that show. So if any guests from this show that are coming to MK would be MOST welcome. So heres hoping and fingers crossed.
  22. Excellent guest another one i have waited for for so long Safe to say he will make a cple quid out of me as i have five items for him to sign. Now any chance of Mark Hardy as well? as that would be "excellent news" Once again guys you spoil us.
  23. yes well what can i say? even though i was lucky to have met the man himself a cple of years ago but on this occassion it was the best. My mate and i were lucky to be there early enough to meet him without a VQ ticket and he was brilliant. Thanks you guys for making this opportunity a reality. And for the record i had two 10x8 photos and my Time Crash exclusive figure 2pack signed. It would have been a huge bonus to have had just ONE personalisation but hey theres always next time. A big thanks to you guys and a big thank you to Mr Tennant and im sure we will meet again.
  24. Never mind which BUILDING the show is in the concern should be about which ENTRANCE/GATE is going to be opened first? As i seem to remember a bit of a kerfuffle at the LFCC earlier this year when one entrance was opened before the other.
