Same here, even though I'd been spoiled for the casting choice. It was all the more hilarious because I'd never seen pictures of the actors, so it took me almost the whole scene to catch on!

Sherlock is HUGE in the US. Even my boss knows about it and he has no time to watch television. As for the possible short notice, that would depend on a number of factors. If SM/ME avoided major US holidays and conflicts with the biggest multi-fandom events, hundreds of fans would undoubtedly show up if Benedict or Martin were signed, but I'd be unsure about thousands if the notice were too short. I'm very much looking forward to going. I just hope that it is held on a weekend when I'm free!

I really hope the new event is one I can actually get to. I've had terrible luck with April, so am hoping for March. *gentlest of implied shameless begging of all fates and vicissitudes*

Voted for TOS because it's the underdog and the classic, but would be every bit as happy with TNG because it's the most gorgeous.

I can confirm 1of2's reply. I was at his last appearance and he said it several times there and on his Twitter account. It was a rather teary farewell.

Chris Pine would be a brilliant addition, yes. I've met Zach Quinto (who would also be a lovely guest catch), so it would satisfy the completist in me on several levels. :)

If Leonard were booked along with everyone else, the event would probably sell out within a few days. If Media 10/Showmasters were to add Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto on top of that, it would go within minutes. That said, I was at Mr. Nimoy's last such appearance, and he did seem pretty adamant. He's still doing the occasional public event, but not conventions. Still, as has been pointed out, he has been coaxed out before, and hope does spring eternal.

This is a bit off-topic, but I'm glad to know that you're going. I'd love a chance to thank you in person for being such a sane voice on the Hub forums for the past four years, and I don't know if I've actually met you, yet.
