  1. Ok theres been a alot of talk about you guys being in talks with two major lotr guest ( im not sure how true this is) but please can you put our minds at rest please and tell us if this is true or not. At the mo im not sure if I can go and im really kinda resting on seeing if these guests are added or not. I just want to know if there is still a chance at this late stage or if thats it for this time.

    Many thanks

    Katie

We are still in negotiations with 2 major Lord of the Rings guests! If they confirm they can attend then we will let you all know. However, for those of you holding out for them, please don't! The only reason I am answering this point is because it has been so widely talked about and as such, needs clarification. However, as I am sure you are all aware, we do not comment on guests until they are confirmed, and so I cannot, and will not tell you who the two are. Indeed, I wish that they were just surprises if we managed to get them, rather than people holding out and expecting them to be announced.

Ultimately, if the line up is good enough for you at the moment then great! If it is not then do not travel, or pin your hopes on other people being announced. If they are, then great, but do not expect it. Treat it as a surprise if it happens. But to answer your original question, we are still talking to people!

    Showmasters,

 You cant seal a guest on the day its impossible, or it would defiently seem it. so you will know if a guest is coming before hand, but by your post you are hinting of having the guest as a suprise. do you think a surprise on the day would be fair on people, when you will have sealed that guest before the shows dates, also having the chance to tell fans he/she is going? even if its a day before the event people will travel to attend to see that major guest.

maybe you want it as a suprise so you dont get the same sized crowds and chaos as Collectormania 4. that would seem to be the only reason i can think of.

You said if we seal the guest/s and they can come we will let you all know.. and other posts such as .."as soon as we know..we will let you know"

How could this be true though because with a suprise guest you wont let us know till the day, and only the people attending will be informed. Suely you can't justify a supirse guest as "when the guest is confirmed...we'll let you know"...you will know if they're going a day or more before, but we wont be told about the guests confirmation untill the day or hour or not even being told at all (being at the right place at the right time basis). This will leave alot of fans devestated, and the fans attending angry because if they knew this certain guest was going then they wouldn't have been waiting in line for a different guest which might make them unable to see the 'suprise' guest.

I WOULD like an answer please as i have asked a question, plus you visit the C5 section everyday and will be reading this, i would see no reason why you can't give a response.

I am going to the event no matter what..not really for the guests but to see friends, and a suprise to me is great, but i still want to know.

    Ben. ;)

Im totally agreeing with you on this, i must admit I got alittle worried when I read sm reply aswell.

Warning bells started to ring, i mean c4 was good but it was crazy aswell, what better to cut down the mass rush at c5 then to announce the guests on the day??? Im really hoping im wrong on this.

The thing is, the line up is great at the mo but Ive met all these tonz of times, so as Im short of money it doesn't really warrant spending more money to see these guys again ( as much as i love them lol ) but if a major lotr guest was added I would be there like a shot.

I must agree there would be plenty of fans pissed if you had the guests just turn up on the day- now that wouldn't be fair.

What im really wanting to know is, perhaps a couple of days before c5, are you going to let us know or not?

implying that SMs are withholding guest names to avoid a crush at C5 is blatant scare mongering as this reaction illustrates

i advise anyone who thinks SMs are witholding names unnecessarily to read through the reasons why they can't announce before a certain point in negotiations

  2. oh if the mods and SM dont mind me saying... if the post shouldnt be replied to why not post that and lock the thread...  i'm sure that can be done... so that people can see why its been done and then after a few hours or so delete it...  i know i check back a lot and if a post of mine is deleted i would like to know why,.....

it may serve as a lesson and we can all get the point of it...  make an example of some posts you want to delete...if they are blatant advertising or slagging people have already read them why not show your dissatifaction and then delete it when people have read your comment...  lock the thread so people cant reply!

    hugs

    Veasse x

i take your point. locking topics is an option but it defeats the object. if we think something is inappropriate it will be deleted. locking a topic doesn't change the fact that the inappropriate topic / post is still on the forum. locking a topic tends to happen when we want a topic to stay but don't want the intial post buried under loads of posts. an example is the "Some Rules" topic pinned in general chat.

if you've had a topic / post removed and the deletion doesn't seem to be in keeping with the forum rules, please contact one of the moderators by email. i'd be happy to help explain.

How would you like to come off a plane and be confronted with a couple of hunderd people all wanting a piece of you......have a bit of f....Ing respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You have to understand that everyone can't be happy 24/7. The poor bugger was soo tried you could see it in his face. As for him being not interested with his fans.............What A LOAD OF RUBBISH..........I met billy a few times now. Never have I known him be rude or not give a s***. I think the people you need to be pissed with are the organisors of the event. Telling a load of bulls*** lies just to get their money. Why lie to people. It would be better to say....." hey sorry, we haven't made enough money today. we need to rush people through to make more....please no photos" These reguests where not made my the guests but by the organisors. It happened to me at C4 with Elijah....NO Photos. SM I had a great time and will be going to C5 but please make these reguests known to people so they prepared for what might happen. THIS IS NOT A JIBE.......ONLY TO THAT [DELETED BY MODERATOR]

i'm going to have to ask you to be more careful with your choice of language please

  5. The arrangements are the same for both nights.

Meet in The Quality Hotel Lobby at 8:00 pm, moving to Wetherspoons at 9:00pm

Don't forget that the Forum will have it's own area at LFaCC so you can make more detailed arrangements on the day.

  6. if somebody wants to post the definitive details for the friday and saturday night meets i can pin them in this forum if you like. i think that we need to make a final decision on the arrangements now to avoid confusion.

  8. What about the limit of items signed, ie will there be one imposed? Again, I have experienced delays when people walk through with carrier bags full of things to get signed, and they never get things ready until they walk up to the guest and then it's 'ooh, can you hold on a minute'. I realise that you are reliant on the people in front of you not holding things up, but at the same time wouldn't it be useful for the steward who is controlling queues to at least advise people, could you have you things ready for signing so that we can get through things a little quicker - and this isn't rushing people, because it still allows the opportunity to interact and take/have photos taken?

    E

it's a point well taken. judgement will be used for each individual guest depending on how popular they are at the time.

  9. elainec, this is covered in the VIRTUAL QUEUEING info in the FAC section. You raise 2 topics here. 1) getting tickets 2) speeding up the queues.

on the subject of tickets i'm sorry it was inconsistent but the more popular the show becomes, the stricter ticketing will be. i think it must be frustrating for a person to watch 6 or 7 people go in on one ticket when only one of them queued up (or indeed on individual tickets when only one person has queued for them). it's this type of queue jumping that slows things down for people who were genuinely early in the queue. if you were number 200 in a queue and everyone ahead of you took 5 people in on their ticket it would mean you were actually number 996. you probably wouldn't get to meet the guest. if it were an old fashioned type queue you would still be 200. is this fair? the only way to keep things fair is to issue tickets to people in order and call them in order. everyone is entitled to take a ticket whether they're purchasing autographs or not. all Showmasters ask is that you take your turn.

on the subject of speeding up queues there are always two sides to this. the people in the queue sometimes complain if they're kept waiting... but then complain when they're hurried through. it's a matter of your perspective and where you are in the queue. there has to be a balance. allowing personalisations or photographs might occassionally be stopped for several reasons (including the guests request). please just bare this in mind... there are only a certain number of minutes in the day. the longer you take, the more people will be disappointed. everyone who joins the queue after a certain point risks disappointment so they're relying on the goodwill of the people ahead of them to ensure they meet the guest. that is the only reason why you may be asked to move through quickly.

i hope this answers your question. B)

  10. Billy bob its only a cardboard sword, so it can go missing. I don't mind, it won't be hard to make another. Ah well never mind, I'll just have to carry it around with me

the health & safety issue i'm referring to the one caused by large amounts of other people's belongings being stored in a small work area. the good news is that you can always make another one if you decide you wish to dispose of it. your costume sounds impressive already, good luck!

  11. I'm afraid Showmasters can't accept responsibility for personal property. As at Collectormania there would be Health & Safety and security risks with storing personal stuff in this way. Also, it would only be fair to do this if Showmasters offer the facility to everyone at the show. This would of course be impossible due to sheer numbers. Like any other busy event i'd urge you to plan well and to not leave your posessions unattended.

  12. Some very important points have been raised here. It is essential to exercise caution when dealing with people over the internet. Just like in everyday life there is always a risk that the person you are communicating with is not who they appear to be... and just like everyday life there are trouble makers and bullies.

There is a team of moderators on this forum but everyone has a responsibility for their own behaviour.

You may not be able to control other people when they decide to turn nasty but you can control how you respond. Please don't rise to antagonistic and destructive remarks as it only encourages this kind of negativity.

I would ask everyone not to force their opinions on others but to simply express themselves in a constructive manner. Some people will agree with you and some won't... that's life and it won't be changed by getting angry or upset.

To clarify if your comments are appropriate please read the "Some Rules" topic pinned in General Chat.

The vast majority of forum members have shown their willingness to be supportive and friendly towards others who come here. It is always a pleasure watch people having a laugh and making friends on the forum. Please help us to preserve this great atmosphere by ignoring the few trouble makers. They are perfectly capable of making fools of themselves without our help.

Thanks for your support and I'll see you at Comic Con!!!
