  1. The stories/books are already there for Disney to use. They would not have done this without a plan. I am hoping this will be a great future for Star Wars
  2. Thanks for the reply :) I was thinking it was still early but being new I wasn't sure but thanks for the info :) xx My pleasure. Added you on FB btw
  3. HI and welcome. Guests are only announced when they have signed contracts and returned them to Showmasters/Massive Events HQ. Only then wil Jason & Mark announce them. As this event isn't until next year, you may be looking at early 2013. But, guests could agree before that. It is a waiting game.
  4. I don't mind who the guests are really, its just nice to have a convention for fellow whedonites. Besides, its great to meet the guests AND the other con goers, if they mix I don't think we will have the same atmosphere I totally understand. The Whedonverse fandom has something special about it. It remains the themed conventions I have attended the most. My only concern is that future Hallowhedon events may be at risk if numbers are low. If there are at least three Whedonverse guests, then there is still going to be a representation. I have been to mixed events before and found fandoms kept together.
  5. I can understand where you are coming from as I used to frequent Whedon events many years abck and the fandom is unique. But I wonder if it is becoming harder to get specific Whedon guests and they need the extension to other guests to keep things fresh?
  6. Actually found Entangled slightly better than Lemons. More old school. I found Lemons predictable. A good predictable. But predictable. Entangled reminded me of older Dwarf episodes. Rimmer was on form. And the inetraction between Cat and Kryten was brilliant.
  7. What has DSTL got to do with Sean's work commitments? What has DSTL got to do with Sean's work commitments? My thoughts exactly. We do not even know when Massive Events were informed.
  8. I know a few people who would like that. A certain Bunny!
  9. One thing about needing more crew, there was a request for more people to volunteer on the forums by Too Tall right up to the event, but it seems that the request/pleas were answered in as high a numbers as would have been more productive. I did mention this elsewhere, I hope that some of those people who are complaining/criticising/suggesting how to do something (no, I am not flaming) do actually volunteer for future events.
  10. Spot on with that. Young Crippsy is an ardent fan like myself.
  11. It is nice to see a balanced review, rather than some of the personal attacks posted. Much respect for you.
  12. The only negative things being removed have been personal attacks on the organisers and members of the volunteers.
  13. I agree with the context of what you have posted, but my issue with previous posters has been a distinct determination that because the percentage of online issues raised so far outweighs the positivity, that this would mirror the percentage if related to the entire attendee roster. It is all about being balanced. You are quite obviously an intelligent person who plays devils advicate on many issues. That is something so rare, because many people in life choose not to see that there area lways two sides to a coin so to speak. My point, I feel, remains valid in that too many people seem to be making criticism personal rather than constructive.
  14. There were some 17000 tickets sold, and the percentage of those who have come on here and gone on Twitter is small. According to the Office of National Statistics, the total number of UK parliamentary electors in December 2011 was 46,107,200. The number of such electors who have gone on Facebook, Twitter or blogs etc expressing dissatisfaction with the current government is probably in the tens of thousands or maybe hundreds of thousands. That doesn't necessarily mean that the other 45 million-plus electors think that the current administration is doing a spot-on job... And likewise Mr T, it does not necessarily mean the other 45 million plus electors think the current government is not doing a spot on job.
  15. But of those people, would be fair to say that more than half (and I'm being kind) that are unhappy, or disappointed.with some aspects of the organisation?. That’s not including the ones that have been deleted. It seems if you mention ‘Watchdog’ your post is deleted within seconds. I’d like to know how somebody would explain that, if they ever made the show! . Talk about making easy for Ann robinson to pick you apart. So, if I am reading your post correctly, you think it is fair to say that more than 8,500 attendees were unhappy? How did you come by this figure? I would find it nigh on impossible to attain a true figure without actually speaking to each attendee. If you look at exit polls for elections, or YouGov polls, they are but a small number of people compared to the number who could have been asked. As regards Ms Robinson, you may give her a little too much credit. She but follows a script and telly prompter. She just adds the attitude. Also, to involvde the afforementioned Ms Robinson's programme, you would have to show that the organisers advertised something that was not provided. From what I have heard from attendees, there was disappointment with certain aspects of information and the party decorations. But I have also seen that some issues were due to the actions of certain portions of the attendees. One major issue was the Alternate Opening Ceremony. I am not a Moderator, or in any way affiliated to Showmasters etc, but I feel a majortiy of the criticism leveled at them is that people expected something and did not get it. Prices have been mentioned, but having such a line up is not a "nickle and dime" operation. I have also heard comparisons with the official event held in LV. This is not Vegas. This is London and a first time event co promoted and organised. This is not an exclusive Showmasters event and I feel so many people are unfairly comparing Showmasters exclusive events such as Collectormania, Londond Film & Comic Con and Entertainment & Media Show. Jason and his organisation have sole and complete control of those events. With this event, they have to agree things with the co organisers. I can understand everyone has the right to an opinion. I respect that and always will. But I am seeing many comments on these forums and social media platforms that has become too personal. As has been said before by myself and a few others, there is constructive criticism and then there is venting frustration with unfounded and image damaging accusations against the organisers, and personal comments about VOLUNTEERS. If you, as fans, think that you can do better at helping out at Crewing for these events, then apply to crew future ones and show us all what you have to offer. Jason & Too Tall are always looking for new blood to help improve each and every event. This essay is strictly my opinion. My sentence said that it was possibly fair to say that over 50% of the people using social media, or who are discussing it on the forum, are unhappy or were disappointed with some aspects of the event. You directly related that statistic to the numbers at the show (which I agree is fairly simplistic), but it wouldn’t be beyond the realms if improbability, based on those figures to assume that the figure in that group being high hundreds, or even getting into thousands. But is that your level of success. Having higher than just 50% of attendees feeling the 'experience was value for money', means it was a great and successful show?. I’d like the aim to be slightly higher. As for Watchdog, join up the dots, and ask if this was any other form of entertainment at these kind of prices, and would you find it acceptable. Regarding the percentage of unhappy people, it seems clear now that you were on about the posters on here and social media, and I thought you meant to the 17000 attendees. As regards the percentage of the forums and social media, then I would agree with you as regards negative to positive, As regards basing it on the entire 17000 potential attendees, I could not in all honesty use the percentage from these forums and social media to dictate what the entire percentage could be. That would be unfair on both sides of the fence. My rates of success would be a minimum 75% happy. Anything less would be too far to the negative. And finally if Ms Robinson were to get involved, I would be rather surprised. I sporadically watch the show and, even if you added all the negatives together, there is nothing there to make a programme segment. Just taking Showmasters itself, and ignoring the co promoters and organisers, they do not have a history of actions that would fall into the usual suspects grilled by Ms Robinson. At worst you could criticise the late cancellations, but that could be evened out and exceeded by the fact Showmasters consistantly pull late replacements out of the proverbial hat. I recently tweeted that I felt quite a few people over expected and maybe wanted it to be the perfect Star Trek event that they had thought up in their imaginations. Unfortunately, with something of this size, if you go in expecting a weekend convention vibe rather than a signing event similar to the Massive Events wing of Showmasters, then you may well be disappointed. I am certain that lessons will be learned and dealt with. But I will reiterate that people comparing regular Showmasters exclusive events to this one are being a tad unfair leveling all of the flak at Showmasters.

  18. All opinions are valued as that is the onyl way an organiser can rectify issues. But, and this is to some but not all posters of negativity, when the comments go too far with accusations and name calling, that is when people like Queen Sindel step in.
  19. I never implied or accused you of swearing. I was answering your post with a general outline of what the Moderators do. That is why I commented in general rather than to you directly.
  20. I think you will find that the moderators are only hiding/deleting posts or parts of posts which are not ideal for a family forum (bad language etc), or is derogatory towards people. I believe in free speech, but sometimes people can go over the top and make some comments personal. I have seen some posts attacking individuals, and unfortunately resorting to name calling. I believe there is a right way to offer criticism, and then there is a wrong way to offer criticism. The Moderators are given guidelines to work to, and that is all they are doing. Please remember that the Moderators are volunteers and have had to deal with some not very patient people when it came to information etc. I feel people like 1 of 2 and Queen Sindel have doen great jobs helping so many people.
  21. And it has been on the national news on TV
  22. But I thought you were ushered through so the Papparazzi couldn't hound you Count?
  23. From people I know there, there have been some queues but for people buying tickets on the day and picking up tickets at the box office desk. Aside from that, it has been reasonably free flowing.
  24. Also, they have said out of respect to potential guests, they do not name who they are negotiating with incase it falls through.
