  1. Hi all

just some thought on the changing needs of fans and collectors :-)

Fans have been taking selfies sins the start of these events over 15 years ago and we have no issues with them happening and that is the truth , if we did we would have banned them from the start , we never have and we do not intend to now :-)

We do have a stance on Paid for selfies we do not feel that guests should charge for a selfies and as such we do not allow them.

The signing time for signatures is just for that and we can workout how many autographs a guest can do in there time and managed it so the fans in the line get seen and we can also warn if there is a likely hood that you may not get seen.

But when you add paid for selfies into the mix it mess it up and some people are not good with there phones and it takes up lots of time that is wasted so thats why we do not want this trend of paid for selfies to creep into the signing lines for autographs for the events we run.

We put on proper photo ops for people that want them we put on organised autograph sessions that work well also , but paid for selfies is not something we plan to introduce.

As to none paid for selfies that is totally done to the guest and if a guest has no line i think it should happen personally but at the end of the day it is down to the guest and what they want, but our point of view if there is not a big line what harm is it and the guests gets to chat to the fans so everyone wins :-)

We have never told a guest that they can or cannot do photos at the table , that is down to them what they choose to do.

i will say one other thing a guest will not want to be seen to say no to a Selfie as they might look bad so 99% of the time before the door opens to the public a guest will tell the assistant what they will do what they will not do and what they find uncomfortable doing and the crew member will be the person to enforce it of the guest over the day so Showmasters do have to look like the bad guy and say no for them at times as that sadly is also our job :-) , so there are the facts i hope that is of help you understand things as they really are.

Selfies are very important to me and they always have been, I find them to be very informal and the ones I have merely showcase the wonderful time I had meeting so and so, theres a level of spontaneity to them, and rarely if ever have I had the same experience with a photoshoot, I'm not a big fan of photoshoots as (as stated before) I have issues with my eyes, within a photoshoot they never look good no matter what I do (believe me I've tried all kinds of things to make my eyes look straight ahead) but nine times out of ten I end up disappointed with the picture - that's why (in my opinion) I'm not a fan of photoshoots.

    Two examples:

One female guest I met at LFCC in 2010 I got a selfie with, I was really happy with it and one of the pics I will always cherish - it was that moment of meeting said guest, talking to her and the picture was a sweet memento of that, the next day I had a photoshoot with her... I look terrible in it.

In 2012 I got a selfie with another female guest, she was so sweet to meet, and was very accommodating, we got a great selfie - I also got a photoshoot with her... I look terrible in it.

I do realise (as Jason and I know others have said) that some are not good with phones, this doesn't apply to everyone, having done premieres I know how crucial every second is - just one second even - and I can whip out my phone on selfie mode take the pic etc. Also, I do realise that some guests aren't fond of flashes, with an iPhone on selfie mode theres no way a flash can go off.

Glad you're not gonna be doing paid for selfies :)

  2. I have never... watched any of the Saw movies.

With so many fans of the movies around... I feel guilty right now. So I should watch them in the near future.

Saw a bit of one a few years back - hyperdermic needles *Winces even remembering it*

I spoke to someone I knew about it and said what I made of what I saw, she looked at it from a very different viewpoint that the subtext was "Morality". How its about about Morality which I guess made sense and saw me watch another of them.

  3.

Truly a Headlining guest if ever there was one and one worthy of a "Big guest announcement" thread. I would add the #FACT hashtag to this but it goes without saying.

People REALLY into movies know just how extensive Vic Armstrong's career is but sadly I think you're average Joe would not be familiar. I think there would be a lot of moaning in Big Announcement thread which would be more Showmasters' fault than Vic's!

Its always a problem with the announcement threads as to actually what does constitute a "Big Guest" personally there are names whom I'd love to see announced, Dennis Muren, Phil Tippett (because of how big they are - on the technological side) many wouldn't know who they were and just how crucial they were to not just Star Wars, etc etc but to the VisFX industry as a whole...

I digress, a few years back my friends daughter and I were having a debate as to who was much bigger, I stated that it was without a doubt Mr. Armstrong she disagreed and said John Barrowman. But alas with these announcement threads there will always be those whom are unhappy with who's been announced, I can think of a number of times someones been announced in one of these build up threads and people get disappointed then someone equally as big is announced without a build up thread.

Thing is, at the end of the day we are, to quote Mr. Miyagi "Different but same" we're all Geeks who totally squee when we meet someone who's part of our favourite Fandom but equally one guest isn't what another person would class as that big a deal - take last years LFCC, Dave Barclay and Robert Watts were announced (in my opinion they were major headliners for the work/their contribution they had on Star Wars, Indy, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Labyrinth etc)

But yep, Vic is one heck of a big guest for many :)

  4. That is one cracking announcement. Totally unexpected, but a big announcement in my eyes. Never thought of someone like Vic attending, so it is the suprise of the week for me.

Now I can hope he does a talk, as hey the man can talk! Will be great just to walk upto him and shake his legendary hand! That hand has done so much for our viewing pleasure.

In my opinion he should have got a "Big Guest Announcement" thread, he is a true legend. In 2012 he was at Collector and had his book with him I hope its with him this time when you see him. :)

A truly wonderful guy, and as many know, him and Harrison would get mistaken a lot on the set of Raiders - for those who haven't met him, I cant recommend that you meet this true legend enough, both him and Wendy are so delightful

I see that my post has been completely ignored when I asked the simple question if we knew if this was gonna be a first time signer or not.

Yes, I realise that to some these type of threads are "A bit of fun" but- well, I wont say anything further - I'll just be glad when this "Game" is over tonight at 7 and hopefully by then someone would have answered myy question

    Potato.

What kind of a response is potato? I'm sorry is there something I should know?!?!

All clues have been posted. So your question has been answered - we don't know.

Havent seen any clues at all, only mere speculation. But at least this could either be someone we've seen before or a first time person.

Like with the potato comment someone replied to me with these threads just-- *Shakes head*

If its Bill Murray I will lose my s***!

If its Eddie Murphy I owe Jason a large drink

If its Dan Ackroyd I will be forever in Jasons debt

If its Morena Baccarin my year would be complete!

If it's Morena she can bring Ben Mckenzie with her! That would be incredible and I'd lose my s***.

IF its either Bill, Morena and Ben I'll bring a LARGE packet of Immodium ;)

  9. Big guest well a big guest what is a big guest for everyone else it´s something different.

I would go nuts with I could not even give a realistic example for me XD , meh let´s go with Simon Pegg or hmm Erica Durance :P meh can´t even get a real good idea :P

And there are even persons who someone I don´t know some actor from well let´s say Emmerdale :P would be a huge guest.

Exactly. A big guest for me would be Alfred Molina for his small but memorable scene in Raiders, and we are all different whats big for one is the opposite end of the spectrum for someone else, lets take Michelle Gomez for example, a lot of people know her for her role in Doctor Who but she was equally superb in Green Wing, we are all different in what we think as big... But at the end of the day the guest is- or can be big to us :) I'm hoping you get to meet both Simon and Erica :)

  10. I have never... Watched the remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the original is totally flawless, and as much as I'm a massive fan of both Tim Burton and Johnny Depp (two incredible gentlemen) I cant even bring myself to watch their version.

  11. I have never seen Star Trek. Or, for that matter, heard William Shatner's voice.

When I was a kid I was taken to see the third one search for Spock, the only thing about it I remember is these weird tentacle thingies in a forest. But it just doesn't appeal to me

  12.

What about Cory Michael Smith he plays Edward Nygma aka The Riddler in Gotham and that would explain the question mark. Still holding out for Eddie Murphy.

He's been suggested a couple of times but honestly I don't think he'd be a big enough guest for a build up like this.

I agree, as awesome as the man is only Gotham viewers will know him.

To be fair, there was a thread like this for Peter Dinklage and only those who are fans of Game of Thrones knew who he was. Cory Michael Smith most definitely warrants a thread like this. I've noticed that around the same time Stan Lee was announced in a thread such as this, the equally big Carrie Fisher was just announced with no build up- then of course Famke Janssen who is also huge, she didn't get a big build up.

Jett Lucas got a big build up and hardly anyone was that interested - (well I was) - so I think IF it is Cory Michael Smith then this thread would be more than appropriate for someone who is so big in the show

  13. I'm very sure that I speak on behalf of everyone when I say how sad and indeed upset we all are at the very sad news of the passing of a TRUE GENIUS/LEGEND today.

There are quite simply no words to express my utter sadness that such a true icon is now no longer with us.

2016 totally sucks with so many Famous people now no longer here, my thoughts go out to his Loved ones at this time.
