  1. First, may I start by saying that I've been attending Showmasters events since 2010, its where I really first started, I appreciate and respect the fact that Jason has got us some pretty frickin fine guests and i'll be forever grateful for two in particular, Jim Balent and Holly GoLightly :) I guess for some I may seem like a curmudgeonly old git, but I can be hip and down wit the kids yo, basically I care, a few years back I did my best for a number of friends who were grieving for the passing of a very well known celebrity and I was hearing all kinds of horror stories about those whom were grieving, I wanted to do my best for them, let them know there was someone who cared - I guess sometimes I don't come across as caring, but believe me, I am. With this forum there are us who've been here for quite some time, and there are newbies who always are joining up, in some cases this will probably be their first taste of a convention, I guess what I'm trying to say is different people expect or want different guests, some are most definitely realistic, peeps from Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who to name three fandoms, there are then the guests that are like "WOW! YOU GOT GILLIAN ANDERSON?!?!?" all of us in 2012 were amazed when she was announced as we all knew how she felt about signing X Files, then last year Sigourney Weaver (another terrific guest). It was when people started thinking we'd see the likes of Harrison, (don't worry, I'm not gonna go into one here) Mr. Spielberg, Mr. Lucas, Stallone, Depp, Cruise, Jolie, DeNiro et al- and personally (for me) I found it heartbreaking (it actually upset me) that people were getting their hopes up thinking these massively big names would be in attendance - theres also the other factor for it, the price, with a big name comes the price tag and I've seen all kinds of discussions when people get a bit upset that someone is £1 more than what they expected. Personally, I stay away when a big guest announcement thread is made cos I don't like seeing people think it would be Tarantino or Dwayne Johnson or someone be told its someone EQUALLY AWESOME to another set of Fans. 2014 Stan Lee was the big guest announcement and that WAS a terrific announcement, lets face it so many were happy and the same day Carrie was announced but without the big build up and people were still happy. At the end of the day, I would love to see everyone happy and get on but ultimately this isn't always realistic... Anyways am still hoping that Jason announces Michelle Pfeiffer, I would pay ALL the money if she was doing a photoshoot dressed up as #Catwoman But seriously... I'm hoping we get Ian Smith as a guest so DavidB can FINALLY have some lovin' with Harold Bishop...
  2. Another brilliant guest, thats definitely three for me :) Rachael is a brilliant artist and so looking forward to meeting her.
  3. Maybe He-Man but Punisher? I don't even think Thomas Jane is synonymous with that role. It may be a cult favourite but it's hardly revered like Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, Wesley Snipe's Blade, Ron Perlman's Hellboy or Ryan Reynold's Deadpool. As I stated, it is down to the person to decide. I totally agree but in a general concencus I don't believe people associate Mr. Lundgren with the Punisher that's just experience from table talk and internet banter...but that's neither here nor there. I mean my wife associates Sylvester Stallone with Stop or My Mom With Shoot or Chris Evans with Not Another Teen Movie... Chris Evans was brill in Not Another Teen Movie and the role I like him best in and the first thing I saw him in
  4. In 2014 I met Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis when I saw them on Stage down here in Southend, before the show I asked Hugh to sign an (empty) two pint bottle of Cravendale (Milk). That was a favourite, and to this day remains one of my favourite Autographs. First time I met Gillian Anderson was at the Johnny English prem and she signed a copy of Bleak House. In the same year, meeting Kate Winslet everyone had the obvious for her to sign, I held out a music c.d. :)
  5. My thoughts go out to Carolines family, friends and colleagues within the showbiz world for this very sad loss of a wonderful talent, The Fast Show, The Royle Family, and of course Mrs Merton
  6. Han Solo... And I know this is kinda against the rules but I can't resist.. INDIANA JONES :) *Sings Happy Birthday*
  7. Had to make a decision about getting a certain chaps Autograph before, back in 2012 I was going back and forth more often than Blackadder and Baldrick in deciding how many autos to get from an actress who I greatly admired at the time. IF I paid, then on the pro side I'd have this particular item completed... But would I then be arguing with myself about the reasoning. These days, I don't drop money lightly unless their role in whichever media has had some kind of significance - mind you at least on one of the items I'd like this actor to sign I'd have a lot of fun with it. But as another thread title goes "Break the bank" I still have some time left to decide - guess another reason is because of how I missed out the first time I had the opportunity and wanna make up for it now. N.B. Please excuse the ramblings of an old man - *Gets walking stick and hobbles out of thread*
  8. At least Boris won't be our new pm. So there is good news there. Personally (because I have a bit of a man crush on Jeremy Paxman), I'd like Jeremy to be our PM, he's got that "Way" about him, not too fond of Michael Gove- either way this is all very interesting. Like Raylenth said, I too know of people who voted leave and wasn't entirely sure why- my eye has just caught a Ben Elton book I bought a few years back, "Meltdown" funnily enough no one has heard him say anything about this all.
  9. I've heard of other actors doing this too. Anthony Daniels comes to mind (if I'm not mistaken). Anthony is a top guy, he has his own way of doing things and after all these years he knows whats what and works best, sometimes this doesn't sit well with others but I've never had a problem with him :)
  10. I could justify over £100 for Harrison Ford, on the basis a Han Solo is at least worth 10 stormtroopers Only fantasy in that no one would invite him and expect most of us would pay that much for him. He was at the last event in the US and probably would have signed my books for free, except rather than go ask him I didn't want to loose my place in an oversubscribed queue to see Episode 3 in 3D I would gladly pay thatmuch for him, course it would be difficult to know what to get him to sign Star Wars, Indy, Jurassic Park the list is endless - personally I would have left the queue. Few years back I got to meet Bill George and John Goodson (by chance) if I'd have known I would have schlepped up the first ILM book for Bill.
  11. RIP: Jim Henson Rik Mayall. Alive:: MICHELLE PFEIFFER - I'd not just break the bank I'd turn the bank over so that I could afford to get a photoshoot with her, preferably with her dressed up as either Catwoman OR Susie Diamond, course they'd have to wheel in a piano. Adam Hughes - a geek can dream. Stephen King - oh, if only. Dennis Muren - mind you this is on the basis of Fantasy. Jack Nicholson
  12. now for KingRichard that really would be massive massive guest. hope it's Tom hanks though This reminds me of something I said a few years back when I said I was gonna meet someone so frickin massive but he's actually pretty small, someone replied with "Joe Pesci? Al Pacino?" lolz. Alas, Kermit IS massive but I've met him before- would be nice to catch up though P.S. N is IN HARRISON FORD l although I doubt it will be my boyfriend- IF it is I will EAT my hat and make it a youtube video. KingRichard76 reserves the right to use any condiments he so wishes to make his Fedora taste as nice as possible, KingRichard76 also reserves the right to make it so that it isn't his Indiana Jones Fedora he has to eat, KingRIchard76 reserves the right to add in these disclaimers cos he's the FRICKIN KING YO! Wait, who am I kidding, no one reads the small print anyways. For me Kermit the Frog is a "massive guest" and yes only Harrison Ford tops him. I'd wanna get a photoshoot with Harrison where I'm- Yep :) Both are massive, ahhhh Harrison #GuyCrush
  13. Nice investigation work, this only confirms it.... No need to wait till 7 now, might as well announce it now.... The biggest question mark now is the price, this ultimately will settle the question of getting a ticket or not...I'll be shocked if someone else that Jeremy Renner is announced tonight Cheers bud but i joined Mark Hamill at the same time ? so that means they are both coming now dose it :-D Jason if you get Mark Hamill and at a cheaper price than a certain other event you will have all of Star Wars fandom behind you! I couldn't agree more- I'd defo be spending more at LFCC :)
  14. I always have that scene etched into my head whenever I think of Saw, think its possibly because of the amount of shots I had on both of my big toes to get rid of ingrowing toenails when I was 16 - 18 that puts me off needles.... He says with two tattoos (and wanting another) :)

  16. Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Evans, Gaby Roslin or possibly Zig and Zag
  17. IF it is Harrison I'll be first in line- with the "Target" comment I'm wondering if it maybe Kevin Costner. Would love it if iwas Boris Johnson and we get to throw custard pies-
  18. The BBC at 04:46 have called it with Leave at 13,572,949 and #REMAIN 12,710.281 317/382 declared.
  19. Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice.
  20. Couldn't agree more with what you've said. Table selfies are much better than photoshoots, and like you my phone is always ready :)
