  1. One of my favourite guests, always worth meeting, I'll be getting my Dambusters book signed by him.
  2. This would be a great idea but sadly Tom Baker won't travel north of London for health reasons, but it could be fun to get a cut-out or model like in the Five Doctors photoshoot by the BBC.
  3. As said, you simply cannot compare LFCC to any other event held by Showmasters. I'd hazard a guess that the weekend total for attendees at Sheffield is about 15-20% of London on a good weekend, probably less. VQ tickets are the main reason I love Showmasters events. You can plan your time better and I've always found it helps the day go a lot quicker when you have an idea of how long you'll have to wait to meet a guest.
  4. Gutted that I can't now make it today, let down at work by one of my staff, I just hope everyone has a great weekend for me. I think I'll give Sheffield a go now to make up for it.
  5. I've booked the Olympia car park for Friday because I can't walk very far, £29.00 for the day but I am guaranteed a spot.
  6. Just printed off all of my etickets and car park confirmation ready for Friday, after being warned that we could have a power cut/the printer may explode/I may suffer complete amnesia before the day.
  7. I've been attending events for over 20 years and have got to the point now where I don't make the decision to attend until as late as I possibly can. Obviously, unlike me (I'm self-employed) not everyone can make the decision to buy a ticket for a particular day very close to the cut-off point, most have to book time off work well in advance and for those travelling any great distance and having to book hotels I fully understand the frustration involved. It's the one problem with getting A-list and B-list guests from popular shows. They are always going to have the risk of cancellation. In the very early days it seemed that the guests attending either hadn't done a major role for a very long time or we were lucky that the event occurred with a time when they weren't filming. Look back at the type of guest attending any previous event over the last decade or so and you'll see that every year the names have gotten bigger, and so has the risk of losing them. I'd love to see Showmasters be in a position where they could 100% guarantee attendance of each guest over all three days of an event so that everyone can get to see them but this is never going to happen, so now I am just grateful to try and see as many people as I can on whatever day I attend.
  8. As most have said, let the guest lead and don't do anything to make them uncomfortable, I think most people on here know the Robert Englund story or the Helen Slater one from a few years back. I've been doing cons for over 20 years and over the years I've only met a few guests who didn't want any contact whatsoever, most of these gave a logical or honest reason for not doing so. Even a certain captain of a well known starship shook hands at the old MK shopping centre on the Sunday before he left for his ride home, which was a complete surprise as he made the first move. Let's be honest. Some of the people going aren't the most hygienic or are generally rather odd, just think how many of them you'd be happy to touch and then multiply that by a few hundred over a weekend. Not only that but as everyone pretty much shakes hands with the hand they sign with, they are all at risk of repetitive strain if they sign and shake for everybody.
  9. Assuming it's a fake plastic knife Bare in mind that some guests don't like to hold props. Cary Elwes wouldn't hold my severed foot prop I made whilst I'm holding a SAW. I ended up holding both. Yes very fake haha I know, luckily up to now I have never been turned down on a request lol. Also I severed foot even fake is horrid haha :-P Ha, yes, very horrid Cary loved the SAW reference, just a shame he didn't quite play along for a better posed photo. I will say excellent workmanship on the props but omg so realistic! I'm not coming to yours for dinner!
  10. Just been checking up online and one of the biggest problems for anyone buying these tickets is identity theft. Obviously when purchasing these tickets from Eventbrite we all have to register a lot of personal information, this can be found on the ticket sales site with the relevant ticket number. There are three possible ways of making sure no-one profits which are all quite simple in theory. Firstly make sure that the person who purchased the tickets has visible ID IE passport or driver's license which can be checked against a database of ticket purchasers, and then make sure that any people in their party are known to them. Another way is to send out the etickets at the last possible moment to stop them being sold or transferred. The most obvious way, seeing as how it states in the terms and conditions that tickets cannot be transferred, is to make the tickets that are on sale void. Again I would assume that there is some sort of database of ticket buyer's details that can be accessed, if so then the fact that this person has violated the terms and conditions would immediately make their ticket void. Of course it's easy for me to sit here and suggest things, but this does need to be stopped. Later this month the consumer act is being updated and will cover ticket resales on auction sites. Once this is in effect it should make things easier.
  11. I got him to do a special Graduation message for my cousin a few years ago, I had her name written down as it's a slightly unusual spelling and then gave him a rough idea of what I wanted. He was kind enough to write a fairly substantial message on the photo for me, something along the lines of Congratulations ..... on your graduation with best wishes Zach Galligan Billy Peltzer. with the date when I met him added as well.
  12. Great for those of us coming on the Friday Mwahh haahaa!
  13. I fully agree with this, I'd be very happy to pay for an autograph only diamond pass as I don't like photo shoots personally and I am unable to sit through a talk or panel for health reasons, so have no interest in this either. I'd be very willing to pay more for a guaranteed autograph with a bigger guest and I'm sure there are plenty of people who would also agree. I'd also like to see more of the very big guests appearing for more days, this year I can only make it for the Friday preview but there are several people I would have liked to have met, I'll just hope they can attend other events in the future.
  14. Thanks, I have a couple of Doctor Who books I would like to get signed.
  15. Mr Western also worked on some of the props for the movie, it was because of this that he got a chance to help fill out the background cast.
  16. He's a lovely guy, met him a couple of weeks ago, great announcement.
  17. I'd wondered but hadn't liked to say, fantastic news and a very welcome announcement.
  18. Had a nice easy Sunday, we came for Caroline Blakiston, Jeremy Bulloch, Jemma Redgrave and Nigel Betts. We got to meet them all and look around the dealer room twice, all in all we were there for about an hour and a half and enjoyed it thoroughly. Although it takes about 75 minutes to reach the stadium for us we've always come to MK since the second or third event and have only missed last November's since we started coming. We may not stay long but it's still one of the best events by far.
  19. Why complain, this is free to enter event with free car parking unlike other events including an un-named one shortly after this which charges for everything. So what if the number of guests isn't so high, this just means we can all save a bit of cash for next year's LFACC. I could understand the worries if people had paid £15 for earlybird tickets to an event. Just be thankful that Showmasters can still offer this event for free and if you aren't impressed stay at home, it will give those of us coming along an easier time meeting the people we want to see.
  20. About time we got an exclusive guest on the Sunday, I get so frustrated when all of the big names are Saturday only.
  21. At worst it will smell like hormonal teenage turtles fed on an exclusive diet of pizza. I can already imagine it and it ain't pretty.
