  1. My Mate and myself were at chevron 7.5 and really enjoyed it so signed up for 7.6 straight away. My wife isnt a really a fan of Sci Fi but said she would like to see what it is all about and join in, she may regret that As for alcohol prices at the Hilton... I have stayed in a few Hiltons and found them to be extortionate and lacking in quality, for beer, and skill and imagination for cocktails. I intend to address both of these area's during my packing for the event...
  2. I will be attending with my wife (new to cons) and my mate with his wife who is also new to cons so we might well be up for it. I think a beverage or two might settle the uninitiateds nerves a little
  3. Since there will technically be three parties : Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Would it not be an idea to have one from each series? ie Alternate universe/time travel for SG1 Athosian ceremony for SGA Destiny dance for SGU This would cover all three series or could even theme one party as an SG Future series party....
  4. Just had another thought for a party theme....since there have on occasion been alternate reality/time line storylines why not use that as inspiration. We could have uniforms from alternate reality/time lines or main stream characters in alternate positions.....
  5. I dont know what direction the franchise could go now, perhaps its time to resurrect some of the movie scripts and stir the fans and the coffers with the older shows. It is true that the show didnt get a great run and it does take time for the actors to settle into the characters - if you watch the first 2 seasons of SG1 or Atlantis some of it seems rather wooden. With time and the actor developing the character traits we either love or hate we start to enjoy the portrayal. I hope this doesnt spell the end of Stargate but with finances stretched in the industry and viewing audience figures more important than ever I would brace myself for more"reality" TV and game shows.
  6. I cant say I'm surprised to be honest. I was surprised that it got to a second season. Not saying that the actors or the characters were bad but the scripts were generally poor and it did seem to be a mismash of different scifi thrown together to create a series. A bit of BSG, a bit of ST: Voyager etc. Shame that Atlantis was replaced with a show that never really carved out its own niche...
  7. Hi, Will hopefully be attending again this year. The cosplayers did seem to congregate in the one area so as was said a sign and even the cosplay sign up desk in a dedicated area would be good. I am a big stargate fan and saw a few stargate cosplayers about - I wore a season one Atlantis security uniform for bit. After going to Chevron 7.5 am keen to do it again - are there many Gaters attending next year?
  8. I was raising this as a number of people I spoke to at 7.5 were planning their load out for RDA - ie classic MP5 etc. Just wanted this clarified before people started spending big money for the event and then be disappointed. On the matter of carrying Realistic imitation firearms(RIF) in public - as long as notices are placed warning the public and usually the local constabulary are informed I have had no problems both as an airsofter and during my time training cadet forces.
  9. Hi, Thought I would start this topic rolling..... What is the Hiltons policy on Airsoft guns and other realistic imitation firearms? Although I only carried one for about 30mins the whole weekend a number of people had them all weekend. Can we get word on whether they are permitted or will we all have to sport exotic alien arsenals?????
  10. Name: Norman (the guy with the white Tux and 8 changes of outfit on Saturday ) Ticket type: Gold 59 & 60 ( would have been quicker but my mate put the wallets in the room safe and it wouldnt give them back! BLIMEY! ) At 7.5 :7.5 was my first con and was "Awsome" the parties were excellent too - I have to agree with Col O'Neill - Guiness is a great substitute for food!
  11. Was my first ever con and wasnt really sure what to expect..... Was without doubt the most entertaining weekend I have had for many years. Not just the guests but the fun and friendly attitude of all the attendees. I would just like to say many thanks to the few whose names I remember....Friday: Sara and Ley (well thats what your pal called you) Saturday and Sunday: Helen and Sam and last but not least Sammy on Sunday night. I also enjoyed my encounter with the 3 scouse star trekkers on Friday night. For those who dont know who I was .... I was the drunken jock in the the white tux on Friday night lol Once again many thanks to all and see you in May :)
  12. 7.5 was my first con and was actually surprised there wasnt any costume prizes at all. Perhaps not for SG costumes but for some of the other themed events perhaps - would be a good ice breaker and a bit of a laugh. I know that thwe con staff will have had a long day but maybe if one of the attendees was willing to MC for an hour it would get the party flowing.....
  13. Would be nice to get the themes out early so everyone can have a chance to put something together. What about an "Other sci fi show" party? You know anything but stargate I do like the military uniform party - maybe a 1948 gate party with WW2 era uniforms.....
  14. Ditto but still no idea's for Saturday :S
  15. Am struggling to see an angle for Saturday nights party - not sure what you would wear to a wrap party.........
  16. Still hoping for the party themes to be announced. Takes a bit of time to organise good costumes and with it being so soon after Halloween the more notice the better......
  17. Have been a long time fan of the show and was rather hoping that there would be a convention for it here. Was also a big fan of JAG. Cant really get into LA myself. I think it relys on the techno crap too much and not the character developement. PS I think Abbie Is ace although I love Ziva and thought Kate was a great character - Must like strong women, says something about me perhaps lol
  18. Hi, I should be in various Stargate outfits over the weekend and would be up for a few photo's lol
  19. Doctors and nurses......mmmmmmmm
  20. I see that Mr Flanigan need not make his own apologies....there are plenty of people willing to do it for him. He makes the anouncement on Twitter and there in the name is the clue. If only everyone was so forgiving in the real world. Perhaps remember all the leeway and latitude given to Mr Flanigan next time your moaning at a service desk or an airline check in and before anyone asks - I dont work in the service industry, nor with the public in general, but I am sure that if everyone was as forgiving to those that do when something goes wrong, it would be greatly appreciated.
  21. I was there on Saturday and they did mention filming for a new series of Red Dwarf next year. As this was the most popular talk of the day it was hard to hear what was being said as the speakers were quite low down the seating area and I was quite far up the back lol. Hopefully someone nearer the front will be able to say more.
  22. I do understand your argument however rebooking a guest at another event doesnt cost SM anything but it does cost the fans who have to travel and pay again. I am sure that most people dont have a limitless budget for conventions and shows. With such a late cancellation people who had already booked hotels, transport, time off work and babysitting etc would still attend but with a bit of disappointment. Lets bear in mind that the stars dont do the shows for free - they are there to earn money. A fact that Paul Darrow made clear during his talk on Saturday - a man with great humour and honesty. Joe Flanigan didnt have anything on so he was going to Collectormania to earn a few bob. He got another offer and took it knowing fans would be disappointed but also knowing next time he's out of work there's always a convention or show he can pencil in. I wont be crossing the road to meet him in future.
  23. Why is it way different? Each has failed to deliver the advertised service..... A guest cancels as he has a new show to go to or a stage test A ferry or plane cant sail/take off due to weather Which has the better reason?
