  1. Yes I wondered about reg letters, I know before I have had to wait for my friend to arrive before we could check in, I don't think you can pick up your friends passes unless you have some sort of email to confirm either, if someone is going to be late may be worth getting one so you can just hand them the pass then if that's still right? Not sure about postage are we paying an admin fee? they used to come recorded delivery? Perhaps Yvie can confirm.
  2. We have ours too thanks Yvie, see you in a couple of weeks Jay, looking forward to a fun weekend!
  3. I am just wondering if this is just pushing prices higher and higher and way out of reach of us mere mortals so that nobody can afford to see any guest except "the last cyberman on the left" who is by then asking £20. There used to be a curb on prices of £20 then it started creeping up despite the economic downturn a couple of years back. What is to stop guests who have say attended before at standard cost wanting a slice of the action and then deciding they are worth doubling their fee and demanding to be a diamond guest, & pushing their prices up? I guess everyone's expectations are different but I would expect diamond guests to be only A list film stars and even then its a little sad that person is comfortable charging way over the top prices to fans. I just worry this is going to increase prices for every guest. If your able to afford a diamond pass then you want another then aren't you paying 2 lots of entry fees how is this going to work?I guess we will find out when we see who these Diamond guests are.Interesting.
  4. Me neither don't really understand the urgency, if you want photoshoots later on your going to have to pay another £2.50 on postage as you have made 2 different transactions. I would have thought it was best to wait and buy everything together? I just hope not everyone is panic buying now so that those that book next year when guests HAVE been announced can even get one.
  5. A year away and prices in Olympia were massively inflated and they all seem to be non refundable too so we are going back to the Ibis @ Earls Court and its less than it was this year and no pre payment & its not far from Olympia really.
  6. Aw our lovely Clare we love her, she is a sweetheart!
  7. Yay one of the very few buffy guests I have never met, will be nice to meet andy.
  8. Yeah James is great, maybe can taken him to the pub again he's fun.
  9. I don't think "we're working on it" cuts it anymore either. Other organisers seems to be able to sign guests months in advance and answer questions asap, have any other guests even been asked?. I am not sure a lot of people would be willing to forgive another event like hW4 where nothing seemed to be sorted & with just 3 guests, who luckily for ME saved the day. The problem now is it is just too late for some who have not booked waiting on guests so this will affect sales which is not the fans fault this is purely down to lack of organisation (again)!, We were asked to promote to others, but how on this basis? No company can expect to sell tickets without communication and just 2 guests and no party themes which would have taken 5 mins to announce. This is not really acceptable & very unfair on those who have attended loyally for years and paid months ago, also for our newbies. There are a lot of unhappy people who are voicing concern on forums and although we have all been patient, there is a limit but nobody seems to be listening to paying clients. It should also not be down to other fans to reassure other that this event will be "alright on the night" either. No doubt the fall out of LFCC is taking all the time along with the 7 signing events coming up before us so where do we fit into this it seems ME/SM just are doing more signing events with not enough staff. If ME conventions are separate there should have dedicated staff who are not spending all their time on SM's signing events?. We all love this event & SM/ME know the guests sell, but its all about pre-organisation or lack of as has been said so many times before but nobody listens, we were so hopeful last year too!, This could be such a great event for many years but right now just very frustrating. The days of fans paying for any con with no guest list have been over for many years, those who remember certain buffy cons of old will know why. Its now time someone in charge addressed us with something concrete and before people lose total faith which would be a shame.
  10. i love this event but tbh party themes at least should have been in place months ago and way before LFCC so fail to see this as an excuse - whilst we understand this weekend is busy there are other signing events coming up after this so are we just getting pushed back further and further with each new one that crops up? It just is always so late all the time we have to wonder if anyone listens to the forums and comments as this has been said so many times before.!
  11. Revenge of the nerds another one from the 80s. Very much in the animal House & porkys theme and very funny. Sure I used to have ROTN on video too.
  12. Oh yes and I remember the woolly bully thing as well. Everything about Moonlighting was funny. Used to love it when Maddie would come into the office and slam the door in a huff when David, Herbert and McGillicuddy would be doing the limbo dancing or something else off the wall, its a classic may go to my dvds tonight now for a recap.
  13. Oh wow just seen this its Herbert Viola! I was obsessed with Moonlighting as a teenager and used to watch it every day, I even used to have a swing coat like Maddie's and the hair. I think I shall have to add him to my list which seems to be getting longer, was originally only going to have a wander and meet friends for a drink (or several) may have to get the early entry at this rate. Maybe one day we will get to see Bruce,Cybill and Allyce as well now that would be a reunion.
  14. I suspect the catch 22 of this is now going to be people have not bought tickets waiting on guests but now ME need more people to buy tickets before they can sign up any further guests.
  15. Totally agreed we had the first 4 HW (3 of which) were organised late and every thread was talking of the lack of communication, guests, updates etc. By the time we got to HW4 everything was so late we only had 3 guests and nothing seems to have been organised till days before, then we lost a guest who was not replaced (when I am sure between the 4 shows someone could have been found, and why was there no plan in place for cancellations anyway?)as it turned out the guests as well as Kristines husband John Pankow were awesome and it all worked out on the day luckily but nos were already down through lack of updates, guests, etc. then last year as if by magic everything was so on the ball as it should be, we had themes and most guests early and good nos so we thought the message had finally got through. This year it seems we are back to the same old which frankly is not good enough when some people have paid last October for this event, we know guests are attending other events so that cant be the problem, in fact a good few are attending the other similar themed event & that organiser doesn't seem to have any probs signing them up early, and can get last minute replacements if need be as well. It does seem that with Showmasters going more and more into the conveyer belt signings and less for the conventions we are starting to feel less important, we love this event and the fanbase is loyal but this attitude is not helpful and does not sell tickets either. As we said before numerous times there should be separate people in charge of the con side so there is someone on the ball and not fully occupied with the signing days so we are not forgotton til its too late. I am sure by now party themes for Friday and Sunday could have been announced how long does that take all of 10 mins to decide?. This does need looking at if its to succeed you cannot expect people to book when we have just 2 guests and no updates for 7 months. Events are expensive with hotels etc, the days of people booking based on the theme alone are over for all events you need to secure a good no of guests and have things in place early now to sell tickets. It would be nice if someone in charge can tell us something as silence is definitely not golden!
  16. We usually hold a catch up in the bar at the Ibis in the evening if anyone is staying in town, they have a good bar upstairs and you don't have to be staying in the hotel ,we had a good crowd last year anyone want to join us we should be there from about 7.30ish. they serve food as well till 9pm.
  17. Yes anything would be good even a party theme, how difficult is it to give that for Fri/Sun at least then people can start looking for ideas which can take time to construct which would then bring some kind of buzz back to this forum. Last year we thought things were finally improving with most guests in place early along with party themes and people booked early. This year we are back to the frustration seen in previous years and now some are already saying they are booking other things instead. You really need to have things in place long before now well at lease most of them and ME have been told this so many times before. As the Twinzz have said we were told there would be 4 guests by xmas so this is worrying to have silence for so long. Come on ME we love these events but lets get the buzz going for this event again and at least tell us you are working on something for us and will have some news shortly.
  18. Ibis Hotel booked last August, we tried Hotel Lily a few years back when we first stayed over but not keen. Also Ibis used to be the Paragon and they held some Buffy cons there years ago so we go back & chat about those, they have a good bar upstairs, serve decent food in the evening so you can arrange meet ups even if your not staying there but you do have to book early as its normally sold out before Xmas.
  19. Going over tomorrow just to see Jeff Kober really and get my prop stake and buffy year book signed. Never been on Friday before so hopefully a look round the dealer stalls too.
  20. Ooh Nice guest. Those of us old enough know Jemma is part of the famous Redgrave Dynasty being the daughter of Colin Redgrave and been is so much for decades, I did enjoy Bramwell too but I believe she was in Howards End with Anthony Hopkins and numerous film and tv shows as well over the years, have to confess I didn't even know she had been in Dr Who as well, look forward to meeting her.
  21. Any chance we can know what the themes for Friday and Sunday are please. I see ET have theirs already for a later event than ours. In previous years these have been announced quite late but people do need a couple of months to get ideas together .Last year all this was in place quite early and much appreciated. Many thanks
  22. Zachary Kralik and Rack! ooh may def have to pop over to MK now 2 buffy peeps with Brian Thompson. Never met Jeff so i can get a few Buffy bits signed.
  23. Last year it was very impressive we had guests and party themes very early which we thought was a learning curve on comments from other years. There is the big Winter show one week before this event now so hope its all going to be organised and not left till the last minute like in previous years, which frustrated a lot of fans.
