  1. So we are only coming to meet Rory from Doctor Who I am expecting there will be a huge line as was with Karen I want to order a pre-order photo, does this mean I will meet him for a photo no matter how many people are there?

And I expect I shall be a high number now so will it matter I will not be in till the 1am ticket?

    Thank you

  2. Male or female, doesn't matter to me just as long as it's someone I want to meet. I'd like to think I'm not someone who'd meet a guest just because she's a very pretty lady. Of course, at Showmasters events that's often a pretty difficult rule to stick to, and I did finally break it back in July with Kyla Cole and Monica Harris... :uhoh:

And, as you can see from my sig, my three most-wanted guests are all female and I've met them all before. So maybe I am a bit prejudiced towards having lovely ladies there, but...so what?

ppl can say what they want but for some of us we arnt lucky enough to be popular with the ladies, so we arnt likely to say no to nice female guests

    Amen to that.

There was a couple at LF&CC back in July who were either behind or in front of me in the queue for the Sylvester McCoy photoshoot on Saturday, I forget which, but they were talking about a 'friend' of theirs and how sad he was for having photoshoots with the models.

"It's only cos he's a total loser and can't get a girl of his own." said the guy. "Course, all he has to do to is just go out and find one. It's as simple as that."

Now, ignoring the fact that I obviously fell into this category of total loser for having had my photo taken with them, I suffer from social phobia really badly. I totally shy away from any and all social events cos I don't feel like I measure up to anyone around me and am constantly afraid that my friends are going to find out I'm even more awful than they probably already think I am.

That means that these shows are pretty much all I have to look forward to. Yes, that's sad, I know, and that's not how I want to live my life, but for a day or two I can go along and lose myself in a crowd of like-minded people and not have to worrying about explaining myself or justifying my existence to anyone.

So listening to this guy just blathering on about how easy it was to 'get a girl, you just go out and find one', like they grow on trees or something, was really starting to irritate me big time. Easy for him, maybe - although to be honest he wasn't anything special. For some of us it's the hardest thing in the world.

    :chair:

But then I thought about it and realised - who's the bigger loser here? The guy who goes to meet a female guest just cos she's pretty and he wants a tiny moment of beauty in an otherwise crappy life, or someone who would speak about a friend the way those two did?

    .....

Yeah, it's still probably me. But I didn't feel quite so bad after that...

Personally I would not just meet someone because I fancied them but I do not think there is anything wrong with it.

I am a loser with people in general not just with guys etc. I am married but no other male really pays attention to me or female for that matter.

But it is nice to think for one second someone who is that amazing to you (like Alex was to me) could spend a moment with you and not be repulsed.

  3. Why is it so important women come? I don't really understand.

What difference does it make that more men come :-/

What if the woman is Alex Kingston? :P

    Clever

I like Alex because of who she is. I do fancy her yes but it is not the reason I wanted to meet her.

Btw I love your photo :D

  4. I'd kick him out :o he already knows the deal. Haha if I get Alex well it is over :D

I cannot see why...he obviously has the same ideas about her as you do :firedevil:

    oh, wait...yeah.

She isn't his type because he is clearly insane. He says she is another one of my older lady fanciable people. I only fancy women older them me it seems ;)

  5. I am glad that people that seemed to have a less than happy time with AK at the stadium have had better ones this time aroound.

This short vid from CM, I think, shows her at her total best....chatty, friendly, smiling, obliging to fan's sig requests and all with that lovely cute half smile at the end.

It would be very easy to fall for a girl like her, she's lovely.

I have already fallen :D many years ago :D

Would your husband let her move in? :D

I'd kick him out ;) he already knows the deal. Haha if I get Alex well it is over ;)

  7. I had a bit of a bad experience with alex in the auograph session, but it was my own fault.

Did you noisily fart and then follow through just as you handed over your photo to be signed? I find the thing to do is to start easing up on roughage in the days leading up to the event, it minimises the risk of those sorts of embarrasing situations from arising.

I had too much garlic the day before lol, no I didn't fart in front of her lol, no way in hell that would ever happen

TBH im still a bit down/depressed about the whole thing.

    I saw you!!!!!!!

When you got your photo took :vader: I was not far behind you :P

  8. I must admit, through everyone we have met these past nine months, she was the one I was "omg" the most, purley because we are watching ER at the moment and for me, it wasnt River Song but Elizabeth Corday, I watched some last night and I was squeeling the whole time!!

I loved her in a lot of things. She was in Hope Springs and I adored her in that and this movie Sweet land <3 so adorable.

I do love River though and she was amazing in ER :vader: she is just amazing in general :P

Plus I loved my photo, it was a hug one and she wrapped both arms around me it didn't look like she was forced to hug me! It looked like she enjoyed it, it meant a lot to me even family members as me if she is my friend or something, lol those who do not know who she is!

  9. I had a bit of a bad experience with alex in the auograph session, but it was my own fault.

I thought she looked tired throughout BUT this just goes to show how proffesional and great she is, she made time for ppl in the auto session, wasnt just a conveyer belt like some ppl have experienced with busy actors, or really rushed like karens, she allowed poses in the studio, didnt mind anyone asking for hugs there also, she was proffesional in her talk and visably moved by the amount of ppl waiting for her which was lovely to see.

and despite running very late, she still got through a vast amount of autos and photos and a talk, its just a shame the talk felt so short.

    alex is fantastic,

Im sure in the mk thread there are pages like you say karen had of feedback.

I hope both alex and karen return to cons in the uk soon! they will be very popular for a long time to come. alex at mk was as busy as karen at LFCC, both were lovely to the fans,

how brillaint it is that as a who fan I can meet the stars in there prime and whilst there still in the show! I didnt get that chance as a kid with classic who. not that there were many widly publisised affordable chances.

    Aww. That was lovely.

I loved her before Doctor Who to be honest. But I do adore River. I was a little worried from MK reviews what she would be like it is hard if you adore someone if they are not very nice in person.

But she was with me and everyone I saw her with, there was a girl in front of with a sonic screwdriver that was tiny and she tried her best to sign it! I thought that was so sweet :(

And she took time to look at the picture I had drawn her, I mean it was not a huge amount of time possibly a few minutes but she made them feel so special and worthwhile you know?

I thought she looked beautiful the whole time :P:vader:

  10. I just put mine in those plastic sleeve things you get from WHSMITHS in like a folder but from reading some of these replies I am not sure I should store them in those :D

And I have my Tony Head one with my photo in a frame, hoping that doesn't stick to the glass whatever some people said ;)

With the sleeves, I think the gist is that if it's a modern one it should be ok. If it's old it might be worth replacing to be sure its acid free.

How do I know if they are modern? I am confused. I just brought one from WHSMITHS for like 4 pounds or something

  11. How do you feel about them?

I did not go to any of the talks about did you feel they were worth it? more so then the talks that were not paid talks.

Such as Karen's was and Alex's wasn't, was there a difference between them?

Personally I would not pay to go to a talk regardless of who it was I just do not see the point I think it is a lot of money to watch someone talk.

  13. On Friday night, the guest I was seated with couldn't believe we didn't charge extra for photos over the table, or for autographs on items such as posters and DVDs. He explained that at previous events he'd done in the states, it was the accepted way of things, and that the fans over here were entirely different for expecting so much for free.

That being said, when I explained that it was his choice whether to do photos over the table, he said he didn't mind, and had a few photos - from that moment on, EVERY SINGLE person coming for an autograph clutched a camera. Some asked politely, others merely swung their camera round in an inquiring sort of way, and the guest stood up again.

I think those of you complaining about inconsistency should try standing up every three minutes and leaning over a table while you are trying to work, or have a conversation. You might not mind it the first 5, 10 times; but after two hours, constantly standing up and sitting down again gets a bit tiring.

I am not going to say there is any right/wrong answer to this discussion, or any way of making it better or clearer - Attendees just need to go to these SIGNING events with no expectations of getting a photo over the table, and if you ask politely and get an affirmative, then enjoy your freebie photo-experience and ALWAYS remember to say thank you!! If you get a no, you really haven't lost anything.

    I fully accept that.

    I do.

The only issue I had was with Joel who seemed confused as to why he couldn't have a photo with me and the girl inches from him said I could and the only next to him said I could not.

Mark told me if he had a photo with me he would get in trouble from some women who was standing behind him? and when we hugged he said I had to be quick. I am not sure if he was joking or not though.

  14. I like photos I love my one with Alex but I felt when I got my auto I was able to spend more time with her and like she actual noticed me for a spilt second if that makes sense?

And like she thought of what to write and commented on what I had brought to sign etc

So I like auto's more in that cause but if it is just a quick sign I guess I like photos more :)
