  1. Any chance of inviting Evan Peters from American Horror Story and X-Men, he does cons in the USA sometimes. I think he'd be really popular. Also Denis O'Hare from American Horror Story and True Blood. I believe he was booked for a True Blood Bitten con a few years back but had to cancel. Thanks
  2. I know the guests that have been announced are going to be fantastic but we were told there would be AT LEAST 6 GUESTS at this event. That statement will have had an effect on which tickets people decided to purchase. It's great that you are happy with just 4 guests but some people wouldn't have paid for a Gold or Silver ticket if they knew that there were only going to be 4 guests (I know that's not certain and ME are still working on it but it seems to be on the cards). The con can cost more than a week in the sun when you add up the price of a Gold Ticket, the travel costs and 3 nights hotel accomodation and I think people just want the most for their money.
  3. Why are you thinking that? I am thinking that also, like jennymac says Jackson has cancelled an apperance somewhere else round about the same time as our event due to filming so that suggests that the Cullen's aren't going to be available. If it's people we have had before then it's not going to be worth it for those who have gone gold or silver as lots of them will already have pictures and autographs from previous guests, if we get another 2 guests we have had before that will be 4 out of the 6 guests who are repeat so Gold and Silver will be forking out all that money for 2 guests. I know we shouldn't speculate too much but it's not looking good, it's getting closer and closer and still no announcement. If ME had a guest lined up and were waiting for the contacts back then I don't think that guest has worked out for whatever reason otherwise why would the guest not have been announced yet. For ET6 I am going to wait until much closer to the event to buy my tickets.
  4. I wouldn't fork out hundreds of pounds to attend a Twilight convention without any guests, I could just invite friends over for the weekend and hold the event in my house for free. The guests aren't an added bonus to most people, just a minority. Good for you guys if you can afford to pay a small fortune, to spend the weekend with your friends and see the guests as a bonus but most of us can't. Our expectations are only high because we have been told by SM/ME that they trying to get the bigger names that lots of us are asking for.
  5. Sorry but I think a lot of people are missing the point, I don't really think anyone is unhappy with the guests we have, I'm sure everyone is looking forward to meeting them. If ME had something amazing for us already they would have announced it as it would encourage ticket sales. They likely have something amazing in the works but can't confirm yet due to waiting on signed contracts etc..... People need to stop telling other people to just enjoy it and it will all work out, there are people on here who are worried about the amount of money they have spent/will spend on a con which they were told would have 6 guests (with hints that the bigger guests may attend), yes BD is filming right now but at the last ET con I think people were told that ME weren't worried about guests in Feb as they had spoken to Summitt. The reality is we are now less than 3 weeks away from the event and need 2 further guest announcements who this to be worthwhile financially etc.. for people who have purchased the more expensive tickets. I for one think ME do a great job under difficult circumstances but people must still be allowed to express their concerns. I am sure it will be a wonderful weekend but stop telling people how to feel.
  6. That's a shame that four guests aren't worth the money for you I guess as these events get bigger and bigger, it's going to be harder to get people to sign. Or take time - and no doubt they're working to try and stop a blow up like ET4 happening [when guests had to pull out and hurriedly be replaced etc etc etc] However. Even if they are still dotting the i's and crossing the t's, there's still 3 weeks left to do that! Hi just wanted to say, for me personally it's not that 4 guests aren't enough, it's just that ME did say At Least 6 guests or more at ET5. That was a big statement to make and I just hope they can come through on it.
  7. I know ME are doing their best but I'm getting worried now. Having invested lots of time and money into organising coming to this event I'm not sure how things are going to work out. I am very much looking forward to coming to meet the confirmed guests but was expecting 2 further guests. I really hope the guests ME are working on agree to come.
  8. Just reading this post and thinking how things seem to have changed. At one point this event was so full of promise now everything seems to have slowed down. Edit: Added the missing bracket to the quote :)
  9. Like others have suggested, I think lots of people have been put off by the stream of cancellations for ET4, particularly Peter's, albeit Massive Events didn't have any control over the cancellations and it was just bad luck that there were so many. I do try and spread the word on the events, people seem interested but always say they won't pay the money for a ticket unless there is a big guest. I am worried that all of us who are supporting the event won't get a big guest (if they are available) due to lack of funds resulting from lower than expected ticket sales. Massive Events did say that the conventions were going to get bigger and better and that they would really try and get us a big guest, I kinda feel like we are being told that we won't get a bigger guest if we don't get the word out to sell tickets. Is it worth thinking about moving these events back to The Park Inn in the future, given the ticket sales? That said, if a Cullen was announced I for one feel the tickets would sell out but it's not that simple unfortunately. I am grateful that you guys run these cons but I feel like our chances of getting a Cullen are quite small now. I for one would prefer a con with 4 guests if it included 1 bigger guest, not sure how everyone else feels? Given the current economic climate, it may just be that people can't afford to attend. I feel the ticket prices are very reasonable and represent good value for money but travel and hotel costs add up and that puts people off also. If I win the lottery tomorrow, I will buy all of the remaining tickets then can we have a Cullen please?
  10. Hope Jason if okay, did a fight breakout or did you have gatecrashers?
  11. Hi I wasn't at the event but the auction is not like the guest talks, there are always people talking at the auction, it doesn't bother me that much to be honest. I have heard people say "I cannot believe they are paying £600 for dinner" but I really don't think that could be classed as rude, from what you are saying it's not like they are heckling at anyone, they are just discussing it amongst themselves. What did they say about SM/ME out of interest?
  12. It doesn't matter if you are a student and I am not, everyone has their own set of circumstances. I have to disagree and say that they are getting worse not better, that isn't ME fault it's just that due to the success of the films the guests most of us really want are very difficult/impossible to get.
  13. I thought there might have been a replacement for Peter added, but the closer it gets to the event, the less likely that seems. The event started with such a strong line-up, I am gutted about the cancellations.
  14. If Peter, Alex and Cam were not advertised we would probably have bought a standard that way if things didn't work out and the guests were people we had previously met or weren't too bothered about we wouldn't have lost too much money. It's true that advertising guests influences your decision on which tickets to buy. I remember when I told my husband I was buying Gold he said "Why bother because Peter and Alex will only cancel anyway". He was right on that one sadly.
  15. Hi there I am one the people no longer coming to the event and it's not that I have taken the huff with ME, it's just that financially it is too expensive to justify coming as the guests we really wanted to meet are no longer attending. Like Gemma I felt that post was a little agressive, everyone has the right to decide whether or not they can afford to come to the event. We all have our own set of circumstances. I really do hope that everyone has a great time but for us it's not about the social aspect it's about meeting the guests. I fully appreciate that nothing can be done to stop guests cancelling but things just haven't worked out how I thought they would.
