  1. I really want to come to this but I would be happier to book with a few more names on the table. Not necessarily big ones - the extras are often great guests - and I don't mind people I have met before at all as I am a con-goer not an autograph collector (and I have met a lot of the LOTR people over the years). I remember the huge disappointment when the last LOTR con folded. Please reassure!!!
  2. Alan Lee and John Howe would be great.
  3. The wonderful Mr Norell is about to start work on a major film in NZ (if it is still going ahead - already 2 months behind schedule!) so he probably wouldn't be available until late August.
  4. Thanks D - guess I'm a trusting sort! V.
  5. Don't know how other people feel, but it seems to me we have touched each others lives through this board. There are certainly some fellow spirits out there and it would be nice to meet up at some time if possible. Since we can't contact thru the forum, if anyone wants to email me at: estel.thomas"spaceATspace"btinternet"space DOTspace"com. maybe we can exchange contact details. Love, Verity
  6. Thanks for the link, Heather, looks interesting. I may see about booking for this. Verity
  7. No need to worry at all. Most people seemed to be there to eat, drink and be merry. There were lectures going on (I only made it to one) but I don't think that Merry & Pippin's dance class could be considered intellectual . Heather I have taken the plunge and joined today. (As an ex-librarian I feel slightly ashamed that I never joined before!) Wonder where my nearest Smial will be? Verity
  8. What to say? I am really disappointed....and I'll miss all you guys. Well we did our best... Maybe see some of you at another gathering....
  9. I'm still crossing everything, holding my breath, praying this goes ahead, waiting for news....... YL I love your idea of getting the stage show involved (even someone to talk about the costumes or stage mechanics). That would be a real coup. They made a great impact at the Children of Hurin book launch.
  10. Part of the problem here is the event is attracting two different client bases - the SM fans who are interested in autograph collecting so want lots of "names", and the Ringers who expect something closer to TFF and another show - a handful of guest stars, some lesser participants, panels, workshops, demonstrations, events, fun and companionship. (you'd be surprised how much fun that can be!) ( oh and if you could persuade the RingStars to come over....there is a show to die for!....) Whatever, it all needs advertising NOW!!! - how are people going to book if they don't hear about it? And no you aren't babbling, Yeltz-Lass. Your posts are always very enjoyable. Just hope this goes ahead so we can all finally meet!
  11. Well I have not met David or JRD and I think they will be fantastic guests. I am one of those odd folks who don't mind if they have seen a guest before so any would do for me (I need something to justify my gold ticket!) and all the LOTR guests I have seen have been really entertaining, genuine and truly nice people. So as long as there is a good varied line-up I'll be happy. (but if you want more suggestions, Alan Lee, John Howe, Jed Brophy, Sandro Kopp.......) ...I must not ask for Viggo!...I must not ask for Viggo!...I must not ask for Viggo!...I must not ask for Viggo!
  12. ...this does not look good.... hope it is a mistake.
  13. Hmmmm........I think most of us understand that the whole Middle Earth concept HAS to include Tolkien. (and the TS have run some cool workshops at other events) .................But I'm sure there will be something to appeal to everyone (even Burt Reynolds Fans!)
  14. Hi, LT Here are a few sources I have used: www.calontirtrim.com - (embroidered trim) super selection, good prices, helpful* www.realmofregalia.com - (embroidered trim) similar selection* ...and from Ebay: www.ebay.co.uk/celtictrims - (embroidered trim) great selection, very helpful* www.stores.ebay.com/Penelopes-Garden - (embroidered trim) similar selection* www.stores.ebay.co.uk/Heritage-Trading - amazing selection of intricately beaded trims* www.stores.ebay.co.uk/Indian-Textiles - unusual Indian embroidered and beaded trims, reasonable prices, (from India but quick delivery) * from US - delivery can be around 3 weeks. (Can't figure how to insert links, sorry, you'll need to copy and paste) ....also check out your local Asian fabric shops - I got some nice bits from a wonderfully chaotic store in the Laines in Brighton - but prices were about twice that of the US suppliers! Hope this helps.
  15. German another show is October 12.-14.2007. (Wonder if any of their guests will be able to hang around in Europe for 6 weeks?) I'm going to both so no worries........ .......On the other hand Craig might be available in November?????
  16. I think the costumes should be worn by their makers (if you've made them that's half the fun)....but in a costume parade rather than a performance. .......shhhh - don't tell the Trolls......
  17. .... and here are a few more things I am hoping to see on the website real soon... - Who will be MC? - Will there be stunt guys / extras / behind the scenes guests? - Who will be exhibiting / running workshops etc? ( Tolkien society? Elven Tailor? The Spirit Lives On?) - Traders? - Art contest / exhibition? ....pretty please......
  18. Can’t blame them for that – LFCC looks to me like a massive money-making enterprise so it makes sense…. …but I am a bit concerned now by the number of people saying they won’t buy tickets without more information or, worse, that they could not wait any longer and have booked for alternative events. At what point is it going to be uneconomical to continue with RingConUK?
