  1. Late to the party, but... From a sheer logistical point of view, someone signing their name only (for instance) can take 2 seconds. It's a practiced art. They've done it hundreds if not thousands of times in their life and the pen just flows. Writing an unfamiliar name can take another 30 seconds, more if there's an unusual spelling or if they make a mistake and have to start again. Every personalisation can mean that 2 attendees don't get to meet the guest (long time crew here, I'm talking from actual experience). Now, I do *completely* agree that personalisation is awesome. I've got many over the years made out to me and it does add that extra something, but at the end of the day I also appreciate that there's more than just me wanting to meet the guest. As I've said before, if you had ticket number 900, you'd be glad there are no personalisations in place today... Just another side to the discussion, no offence or pointed jabs meant at anyone.
  2. He came to an event yeeears ago. I don't want to be bursting bubbles, but meeting him was really not a pleasant experience, put me off him for life. Would not recommend looking forward to meeting him no matter whether he's announced for a Showmasters event or elsewhere.
  3. Good ol' JR! Just released his autobiography, book signing tour booked, would surely have reasons for wanting to attend... :)
  4. Would be incredible... Not sure I can see it happening though
  5. Uh... I'm not going to take part in the "poll", but I will say that it'd be really awesome to get Lea back for any event, not just necessarily London.
  6. Freakin' awesome guest, instantly at the top of my list to meet at London :)
  7. Legitimately happy with this announcement, such a lovely lovely fella :)
  8. Believe me, I'm a 40 year old fella and cried when I met Dean Cain (not particularly my proudest moment I have to admit...) In all seriousness though, speaking as a crew member who often directs the queueing, I would attempt to ask anyone not actively getting an autograph to stand slightly to one side (only by a couple of feet), just enough to be able to guage how many people are in the queue, who is there for the autograph, who is accompanying or just there to take a photo whilst the guest signs. It will be fine :)
  9. Coming off the heels of another outstanding perfomance in the latest season of Line of Duty (no spoilers please!), how about Vicky McClure? Loved her in This is England too, and she always comes across brilliantly in interviews.
  10. Just because I love you, doesn't mean I like you... How about showing some brotherly loooooooooooooooooooove to Bruce Prichard aka Brother Love? I listen to his podcast and he has some incredible stories about his time with WWE and TNA. Who's in? :)
  11. I know he was Saw Guerra and everything, but the man is an absolute legend - just look at his IMDB Credits... Please? :)
  12. Absolutely anyone! All the big damn heroes, even the mudders of Canton and let's not leave out Badger... Nathan Fillion Alan Tudyk Gina Torres Adam Baldwin Jewell Staite Morena Baccarin Sean Maher Summer Glau Christina Hendricks Mark Sheppard Richard Brooks Gregory Itzin Chiwetel Ejiofor Any of 'em! Please and thank you and you stay gorram shiny :)
  13. Been reflecting on the Hellraiser guests in Cardiff last weekend and realised how many of Clive Barker's books / comics / TV Shows I've enjoyed over the years. Any chance please? :)
  14. The Redshirt was Dawn who organised it all - and though I was only the tiniest part of the whole thing (Oliver Smith's guest assistant), I'm glad we could organise it for you... Thought I recognised you!
  15. It's all entirely subjective. Someone who is on benefits might struggle to pay £25 for an autograph, whilst someone with a well paid job might be prepared to pay £1000 for an in person autograph from their hero. I don't think any of us can say "Should". An example: I'm not particularly well paid for what I do, but last year when Michael J Fox was announced there was nothing I wouldn't do to be able to get a diamond pass for him. It's a long an quite personal story why I had to meet him but know that I needed to. I sold quite a lot of pieces out of one of my collections in order to do so, but at the end of the day I would probably have paid up to double the £650 - I'd just have had to sell more pieces. That doesn't automatically mean that I'll get a diamond pass for everyone, or would do the same (I may do, depending on the guest), but what you're not taking into account is that people who ordinarily might have to think twice before paying £40 might happily shell out a lot more for the right guest.
  16. Undertaker isn't going to do any shows now or in the future. It's just not who he is as a person or a character. Wrestlers currently appearing on WWE TV are not going to attend a con, so Mick Foley wouldn't do a show either. Stone Cold, maybe. I'm guessing there'd be a lot of hurdles in getting him to appear. Same as Shawn Michaels. As much as I hate to say it, because I'd love to meet all the top guys too, i think you need to re-adjust your expectations.
  17. It's a bit of a list, so: Nathan Fillion Gina Torres Alan Tudyk Morena Baccarin Adam Baldwin Jewel Staite Summer Glau Ron Glass (Yes, I started a new Firefly piece after losing my old one when moving house) Linda Hamilton Lance Henriksen Robert Patrick Joe Morton Jenette Goldstein Xander Berkley Nick Stahl Clare Danes Kristanna Loken Earl Boen (Yes, I like the Terminator franchise, and though most of these have been before, I realised that I have some in portrait and others in landscape so need the above to even out) Lori Petty Sean Pertwee Donal Logue Ben McKenzie David Mazouz Robin Lord Taylor Camren Bicondova (Yup, a Gotham fan too) Kevin Smith. (Because snoogans) That'll probably do me for now, don't want to be *too* greedy... :)
  18. I wasn't making a comment suggesting they should be MADE to attend. The rumour went around quickly on the day they were priced out of attending by the fee being charged by SM for a stall. Yes, this point was repeatedly mentioned by the staff on the day. When I needed to buy photo shoots that is exactly what I did. However many were queueing to purchase autograph vouchers which could only be done on the one credit card machine in operation on the busiest day of the three. 90 minutes that took out of my day. Unfortunately, any event like this will be subject to a rumor-mill of epic proportions. I heard people talking very confidently and reliably about a whole manner of absurd "facts" about the event. Not saying the pricing issue was, just that it's best to take most things with a pinch of salt unless it comes from the horse's mouth. I didn't mean to appear to be challenging your stance or position in particular, just wanted to offer up an alternate viewpoint :)
  19. This might not be a popular comment, so please bear with me and read to the end before you reply... One of the main issues I'm reading about seems to be down to the behaviour of other attendees. No, I'm probably not pointing the finger at you. It's the others. The ones who don't believe the rules apply to them and are themselves the need for the crew to prevent photographs from afar when there are clearly signs up. The ones who won't move out of the way to accomodate those with ticket numbers lower than theirs. Hell, the ones who blatantly go out of their way to get what they want at the expense of other attendees experience. I have to admit (as Photo B Queue Shouty Fella on Saturday) that the above were by far a minority and almost every attendee I dealt with was awesome. Y'all listened to requests and helped the weekend go smoothly - but how can we, as crew, help against those who will actively ignore us? That's why sometimes the crew memeber who might not be used to dealing with conflict resolution (no fingers being pointed, imaginary crew member being created here) might bark what seem like orders out - when it seems like everyone is ignoring you, it's easier to shout than ask nicely. You get more results that way. Not an excuse, just an observation. The other thing is, how can Showmasters / Massive events have any say in the number of stalls which book their place? If stallholders (once again, no fingers being pointed) don't feel like attending, how can anyone make them? I see the point in mentioning this, but I see it as a non-point as it's under no-one's control. Maybe there's potential for improvement for moving certain parts of the event around - but you have to admit... How impressive did the TNG bridge look when you first walked in? :) As far as the queues for the sales desk goes - y'all know you can buy tickets through the eventbrite app on the day, right? No queueing needed for that. Hopefully this doesn't come across as negative, I'm hoping to just present alternate viewpoints on some of the issues that keep getting raised :) B.
  20. You're welcome :) (Photo B Saturday shouty man)
  21. The crew of the USS Beardaprise - NCC 1701Beard Set beards to stun...
  22. Do people honestly think that Showmasters sit around thinking "Nah, no-one would be interested in another Collectormania..."?!? I really do despair.
  23. Awesome! Made a fool of myself in front of him in London, this could be my chance to redeem myself! :)
