  1. Shame, I was to go to Hallowhedon 4, but with all the unexpected extras (paid talks to keep me busy and to justify the hotel stay) that I had to buy at DSTL, my first experience of a proper Massive Events party is now out of the window.
  2. I did no enjoy myself and was left very disappointed of the event. It filters down to not getting any free talk tickets (I love my talks and they were the main reason for my attendance) and having spent £25 on the TNG 'party' at the cold warehouse on Saturday. Glad I didn't bother with any photoshoots.
  3. I agree, DSTL will be THE Star Trek convention and blow all others away Having attended an expensive all Star Trek event in the US several times, I can say DSTL has to come a long way to match these type of events. These kind of conventions are held in centres that are of much better quality than this warehouse type venue DSTL has held at. Talks are held in a quality auditorium with a decent sound system, seats for every attendee and no annoying tannoys, crowd background noise or gongs disturbing the guest's talks. Their parties are not extensively themed and not cheap if you buy the ticket as an extra, but they offer a buffet, a free drink, entertainment and its usually set in a cool venue. Which brings me to my main complaint. The waste of £25 for the TNG party. Boy, was I disappointed. They could have at least given out one free drinks voucher to sample the 'Romulan Ale'. I felt sorry for Avery and his pianist battling against the bad acoustics of the hall. I'm surprised there's no feedback from Jason about that party, maybe he can add some of his thoughts?
  4. It's definitely a hoax. Met that bloke at Saturday's party, nice impersonation though :)
  5. Yes, I met Boris yesterday, creative costume it was!
  6. Erm, what party? There's a gatherimg of people trying to makthe most out of a bleep sound system in an aircrft hanger like venue
  7. It has been slightly disappointing for us, too. The convention area, in particular stage B, is not big enough for todays crowds. We are gutted that we were unable to secure ANY of the free talk tickets, as our Avery Brooks talk started at 10. Had to leave the queue to make it in time to the main stage. Maybe we'll be lucky and get some stage B talk tickets tomorrow. Also hoping for a great party tonight.

  9. I'm living near LHR, so can shed light on the ride free area. Buses that depart from the terminal central area or T5 (105, 111, 140, 285, 423, 350, U3 and a couple more) are free between the airport and Harlington Corner (that's where the "round" Holiday Inn is). So if you want to go to the Edwardian on Bath Road, then just tell the driver when you board. You do not have to pay then. I think the nearest stop for the Radisson Edwardian is New Road. That would be a free ride on a TFL bus departing the terminals. However, if you're trying to board buses that are only transiting the LHR area (not terminating/starting their route at a terminal) on Bath Road to go somewhere else within the airport area, you might find that they are not free. E.g. bus 81 or 222.
