Thanks for that, I just noticed that the website said the payment was due by the end of January and was starting to panic! Well, I just checked the Hub6 pages today (was pointing someone else to the convention and trying to convince them to come) and the site still says "Please note that the hotel take a £10 per person non-refundable deposit when booking your room. The balance of the room cost is due by the end of January 2011 at the latest. " Just thought I'd mention it, before more people go into panic mode...

I'm not the only one! *jumps up and down* At least you have good reasons for wanting an accurate historical costume... I don't have any excuse, I'm just picky like that! I guess one other thing that should be taken into account in that most of us will be travelling to the event, so certain themes would be complicated from a purely practical point of view. For example, I could not lug an Elisabethan style costume all the way from here to Birmingham without a) going mad in the train, squashing it to bits or c) all of the above. So, yeah, I'm still trying to think of historical periods, not too complex to reproduce, with some significance in TW... and coming up empty

I finally managed to edit my booking and got the three nights (Fri, Sat, Sun) on the convention rate, plus I got a queen room instead of a twin! :) Thanks for sorting this out, Showmasters! :)

That is odd! I booked for the Thursday night with the promotion code and got a queen! Well I just checked again and I'm getting the same I was getting onlast Thursday: Friday and saturday, only twin rooms :-(

Even when trying to book only Friday and Saturday, both the website and the people I have spoken to over the phone agree on one thing: twin beds only. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would prefer a queen size bed. Is there any chance of communicating this to Hilton and see if there's any chance of getting queen rooms as well as twins?

Managed to get Saturday at the convention rate, but Friday and Monday at a higer rate. According to them, "Friday and Sunday at convention rate are already sold out"... Which is a bit of a mystery to me, unless less rooms were blocked for those dates. Anyway... at least we have a room

I've just been told there is no available rooms for those dates. anybody got any clues what is going on?

I have been trying to book online and I keep getting the "The group code could not be verified or is no longer available. Please verify that your entry is correct and try again. " message if I include Sunday. I'll try calling them in a minute....

Yeah, Sunday night doesn't seem to be included. Was this always intended? We were planning on stating until Monday, since making out way home on Subday would probably mean missing the end of the events on that day... But having to pay full price for that last night was definitely not in my plans!

I like historical party themes, I would have dressed up for the Victorian party but it was announced too late for me... If I'm dressing up I want to do it properly (someone please tell me I'm not the only one mad enough to want historial dresses to be accurate...) and I need more than six weeks for that, unfortunately. I would love any historical theme if it is announced early... the sooner the better really. If it is announced late, the Through the Rift idea would be best, as it would be simpler to put something together. I like the idea of the twisted faiytale as well, although I have no idea what I would dress up as for that one I'm sure I'd think of something. *goes back to thinking about some original themes to suggest*
