  1. Well, tis a suggestions forum, i've had Brian Blessed on my sig since ive signed up and I thought that would never happen... things can change and we can hope :)
  2. I think another key point is that SM are creating more events to have a regular income throughout the year instead of a few large events, yes it makes business sense, but for the target market it doesn't. My impressions (without any market research) is that the main populos of people attending SM events are 16-35, either students with little to no money, or people in average paying jobs, as the size of the market (sci-fi/film/tv fans) is not really going through any huge growth SM will struggle to actually get decent attendance at all these events, they're just partitioning up a already split market. IANAMR/MA and imho
  3. The pinned thread is useless, accordingly shes both days... If your going to a show for one guest thats scheduled for both days but you find out she wasn't there for the first day, would you be concerned?
  4. Check with the Swiss embassy in the UK, they'll be able to answer all your questions. http://www.eda.admin.ch/london.html
  5. Dunno if anyone will recognize the name, but just one word: Kane http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0473614/
  6. Not only finte guests, but finte visitors. Showmasters had massive amount of repeat custom due to the shows being spaced out evenly in the year, suddenly we have 2-3 shows within weeks together and people have to decide what show to go as they can only afford one in the time period. Personally, i've attended every Manchester event since its conception due to it being "around the corner", but I had to skip this one in favour of MK and even thats in doubt now due to the latest batch of cancellations. They've expanded into new locations too quickly and it looks like it's bit them on the ass. Hopefully they'll trim down and get back on track.
  7. Pegg/Frost were at G-MEX 2, for the Hot Fuzz preview/launch thingie. Moran/Bailey though...that would be good :)
  8. So true. We had the same issue when it came to my SO's turn, I had to push through 3 other people who were standing there taking photos, I don't think they actually got a autograph themselves but they were causing a obstruction for everyone else. In the end I only came out with one slightly reasonable picture of James signing... I don't go hunting for photos of people if i'm not getting a auto at the same time, I'll only do it if the queue is quite empty and at least i'll be decent and ask the crew member if its ok first...
  9. Did anyone notice the sudafed on his table? Maybe he was a tad under the weather. Anyway, when we saw him on Saturday he was chatty and happy even in the face of impending danger from my fangirl girlfriend .
  10. Well, it was larger than GMEX 2 :), I understand that alot has to be took into consideration just the main point was that even if the exact floorplan and layout was used you would of seen a quicker turnaround in talks if the entrance and exits were reversed. the main issue was that the exit lead out onto a route that passed dealers, so My inital post was based on the Saturday talks, when I returned on Sunday there was no issues. It's good that it got sorted quickly Need to be clearer :) Don't mistake me as having a whine for the hell of it, I enjoyed it alot, I just feel that with every show there will be good points and a few sticking points. If they're never noted then they'll never get fixed :)
  11. Ok, don't take this as a flame, as this is the 3rd GMEX now I feel that the layout and format has settled down, but a few sticky points still exist: 1. Talk Arena - Ok, much MUCH larger than last time (THANK YOU!), that was my major gripe at the last one, but the exit was set out wrong, the entrance comes from a massive open space, and the exit into the main routes near the entrance? How about reversing it? It was quite annoying that everyone was crowding round the exit and no one was near the entrance, and you wasn't allowed out the entrance way? 2. Reserved/Gold Pass seats. Essential really for the people who have paid top dollar for the privilege of sitting there and also for people with disabilities or trouble walking etc, We respected the wishes of Showmasters and avoided them. Of course there was a few who ignored this and sat in what I would consider the "premium seats" in the talk arena, and in the talks I was in not a single crew member confronted them... 3. Signposting, when we first entered a mass of people crowed the show booth for talk tickets, and some poor lady having to shout out to people to go round the corner for talk tickets. A few signs here or there could of helped, even if they were on the show booth. 4. Queue fencing be-gone? The queue for Craig was spewing over into Peter Mayhew's queuing area which was making it a little difficult for people to get through to see Peter. Last show (iirc) didn't they have some roping or such? Bar that, it's been a good show and i'll be back tomorrow
  12. It was good, lots of references to "smeg", probably a little too much :) By the time we got to Adrian I guess he was a little run down, not really interested in talking to us. On the other hand being "insulted" by Craig Charles when i asked for no personalization on my series V red dwarf DVD cover... saying he's gonna make it out to mr e. bay. *polishes his prized dvd case on top of his bookshelf*
  13. mine Please note licensing before copying & stuff. Anyone else who is on flickr remember to add your pics to the showmasters events group
  14. Manchester Airport to Oxford Road station, ran by Northern Trains. Either Metroshuttle to Gmex from Ox Road, or just change to get to Deansgate and the whole 5mins walk :)
  15. I've got a Wii, I highly recommend http://www.benmii.com/ to share out your wii codes, makes you easily searchable and you can also get notifications of when people search for you. Nice and handy imho.
