  1. I'm actually pretty shocked at how little this event has to offer so far. Every Collectormania for the past 10 years since I started going has had at least 10 guests I've wanted to meet at every show, and this event has 1 guest I'm interested in, and even she isn't doing a photo shoot (Caroline Blakeiston)
  2. I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be much hassle in arranging something like the Who ones. Frazer and Wendy for example are friends, do events together, and I'm pretty sure no negotiation would be needed to try and get them to stand together for 10 mins for photos. Instead they are in the same photo area but an hour or so apart from each other. I don't see there would be any difficulty in putting them one after the other and doing a double shoot inbetween. It does just come across as not being considered at all, which is frustrating for me as well. End result is just SM are losing out on our money anyway so it'll save us money
  3. Pretty disappointed that there's no joint shoots added in for Colin/Nicola or Wendy/Frazer
  4. That has to be the fourth time she has cancelled in about 9 years. Really genuinely gutted, beginning to think I'll never get a chance to meet her
  5. After looking at Jason's list there, it would indeed be good to see some of the names that could complete (or significantly add to) franchises that are already big at SM shows, such as Alien (Sigourney Weaver) Back to the Future (Michael J Fox) LOTR(Ian McKellen, Sean Bean) and Star Wars (Hamill, Ford, Neeson, Portman). If these guests were doable, I think it's safe to say that they'd all be popular, as we all love seeing guests from those franchises, and those particular guests are like the holy grails for each franchise. I'm sure there would be quite a lot of people wanting autographs from all of those guests on movie posters etc. Perhaps they are safer bets than some of the more random names there (even though they are almost all pretty much household names) Personally speaking, it is good to see so many names there that so many people have always considered an 'impossible' guest. I have learned from years of going to events to never discount anyone, despite how many people would say that Michael J Fox would NEVER do an event, it's nice to see that your minds aren't closed to the possibility of some of these people
  6. Bizarrely I was talking to my brother the other day about how i kind of regret not meeting her when i last saw her at an event about 10 years ago. I'll definitely meet her this time
  7. Absolutely fantastic announcement. I was debating on whether or not to come to this event(for the first time in years) but Ian has swayed me, and luckily, Sunday is the only day I can manage
  8. Absolutely gutted. The main reason I was paying through the nose to come to this. Unbelievably disappointed
  9. Oh that's excellent, he was great in Snakedance, and it was a brilliant performance in Deep Breath, highlight of the episode. It'll also be nice to meet Lis' husband after being lucky enough to meet Lis so many times over the years
  10. Which is just my point. If this was 2 years ago and people were asking for Lalla Ward, certain people might reply saying there's no point in asking her, as she doesnt do events now. All it takes is for someone to change their mind. Jackie might one day decide to do a bigger event, it doesnt mean she should never be asked. I had forgotten about the 50th event last year, but Maureen certainly didn't do multiple events, and is definitely rarer than most. All in all, it really doesn't depend on who is rare or not, it depends for each and every one of us who we would personally like to see. It just annoys me when people suggest who they'd like to see and get basically shot down by people for various reasons, it isn't going to make the poster want to meet them any less, and it never hurts to suggest them.
  11. Not much chance in Scotland I'm afraid. There was a regular Doctor Who event in Glasgow every year that had to stop running a couple of years back because of lack of numbers. They had planned to start them up again if there was interest shown in them, but alas there wasn't enough. A shame, as they were great events
  12. I may be wrong, but i'm pretty sure Maureen hasn't done 'numerous' events over the last year. In fact I thought that out of all the many many signings and events done over the anniversary year, Maureen and Jackie were the two who didn't actually do any events. So for the OP to say they are rare isn't exactly an exaggeration. The fact is that they are the two rarest classic series companions in terms of conventions or signings. With reference to your comment about Jackie 'never will do an event' is untrue. She has done signing events that I have attended over the last 3 or 4 years, and told me that she likes to do them every so often, she may not have done any signings in a convention centre or anything bigger than a library, but it's not like she's a complete reculse who never does anything. The OP also mentioned Julian Bleach, Catherine Tate and Christopher Eccleston. I think it's fair to say that these are rare. Either way, the OP clearly suggested these people because he personally wants them, and I agree with some of them, so it doesnt hurt to ask. Perhaps Jackie might be feeling in good mood when she's asked, maybe Maureen could be convinced and it would be the first time that she'd have done a full SM event. They're two people i'd certainly like to meet again
  13. I have to second the request for James Tien, I'd absolutely love to meet that man. Can't wait to meet Mr. Wall though, been rewatching Way of the Dragon and Enter the Dragon within the last few days
  14. Yes there's probably reasons that many of them are possibly unlikely, like I said though, it doesn't hurt to ask. At least it highlights that there's an interest if there ever is a possibility.
  15. Yeah Carmen was Fariah in Enemy of the World. I think she did a signing within the last year due to the story's recovery, but is still a rare signer (possibly due to her living abroad I think) I know there are various reasons as to many of the people on my list not doing events that people would give (they live abroad, they've said they'll never do events, they're too old, whatever) but that's what makes them rare, and doesn't make me want to meet them any less. I'll continue to suggest people I want to meet until the cows come home despite some people claiming they'd never do events. Oh another one i'd love to see is Michael Ferguson, an absolutely fantastic director of such stories as Ambassadors of Death and The War Machines
  16. Some good names there, like Derek Deadman, Julian Bleach and Christopher Robbie. I was considering starting a similar topic yesterday. I know some of these may not be first timers, but there are literally just a small group of people from Classic Who that I would love to meet that I still haven't been able to, and would like to suggest these for myself: Alan Bennion Tony Selby Lynda Baron Lesley Dunlop Rex Robinson Lynda Bellingham Marcus Gilbert Donald Gee Deborah Manship Carmen Munroe Wendy Williams Gilly Brown Jane Sherwin David Savile Edward Peel Howard Cooke Keff McCulloch Shirley Cooklin Jasmine Breaks Leslie Schofield Wendy Gifford ETA: Oh and Edward de Souza
  17. One of the few guests announced that I really do have an interest in meeting, but primarily for Doctor Who, so wish there was an individual photo shoot
  18. Have to say i'm pretty disappointed by this lineup so far as well. I'm interested in seein Bob Wall an enormous amount, but the travel/accomodation is a lot for me for one guest who could potentially cancel. The TV/Film element definitely seems to be taking a back seat for this one. I would love some big guests like Geoffrey Palmer, Judi Dench, David McCallum, or repeat guests that i've missed in the past like Joanna Lumley and Ian Lavender
  19. I've said since the beginning there should have been a photo shoot with the 3 of them together and it's a wasted opportunity. They all get on fantastically in real life
  20. I do think a bit of a trick has been missed not doing a photoshoot with Sylvester/Sophie/Bonnie together. Could've been a first, and definitely something I'd have gone on Sunday solely for.
  21. He is doing all the rest at F from 5.15 I believe from the schedule alteration
