Which, given that a) Vince Vaughn is a friend of his, at the time said incident was supposed to happen Ben hadn't seen Vince for a couple of years and c) the story was in the National Enquirer, shows how reliable "word" is!

She was £15 at C9 (but only £10 at C7) -
I agree - he is a legend. He's starred in some of the greatest films ever made. But it's about ageing gracefully. All I'm saying is that I think he'd be better off either a) ditching the toupee and going au naturel, or b ) finding a fitter that can make his syrup look a little more natural. We've talked about this before. There's a lot of 'movie stars' out there well known for wearing scalp warmers - including Ben Affleck, Al Pacino, Matthew McConaughey, Steven Seagal, you name it. I'm not having a go at him for it - not at all. I just think he'd do himself a favour by usng a bit more glue, that's all. The Affleck wig story was just a made up article during the Bennifer madness.

Excellent, I was gutted that he was only at Earl's Court on the day I couldn't go, so I'm over the moon he's coming to MK.

Latest Guest Announcement - James Marsters
mpharris replied to showmasters's topic in Collectormania Manchester
It's James's choice not to personalise, he broke his hand a few years ago and it hurts when he does a lot of signing, it would be infinitely worse if he was also dedicating. I believe he has personalised at actual conventions when he has fewer things to sign but he won't at a signing show. -

I think Charlemagne is his character name in Andromeda not his Torchwood character. -
It's Joe Pantoliano, he's been in loads of things including The Matrix and Bad Boys... Joe's IMDB Entry

But the other queue were also Early Bird people, they just (for whatever reason) hadn't pre-bought there tickets, why should they have less priority even though they are paying the same amount for entrance? High ticket number holders being "Shown a waiting area"? - Apart from the minor detail of locating an area in which to herd the people with higher numbers, I don't think the dealers would be too pleased if half the attendees had been located in a specific area and told to wait there until there number was called! If you just mean an area set aside for people to wait if they have finished browsing etc. then basically that just ties in with there being adequate seating and announcements made of what ticket numbers are being seen (either via boards or a tannoy)

When is an Autograph, an Autograph?
mpharris replied to riversidejon's topic in London Film & Comic Con
Technically, an autograph is any example of somebody's handwriting, it comes from the latin "autographus" meaning written with one's own hand, so the first name signature is as much a valid autograph as the full signature, or indeed if she had just put an x. -
Whilst I agree that the argument about this being a Signing Show not a convention when the word convention is in the name of the event is confusing, I can clarify about the charging etc. Collectormania has free entry because it is in a shopping centre and so Showmasters can't charge an entry fee. Talks cost at Collectormania because SM have to hire a venue in which to hold the talk. The other "Signing Shows" SM hold (CM Glasgow, GMEX, LFACC) charge an entrance fee to cover the cost of SM booking the venue, but as there are no additional costs for holding talks, the talks are free. Ring Con (and Eclipse and Lockdown) are conventions where a fee is charged for attendance which covers all the events over the weekend including talks etc. and usually includes some autographs in the price.

Patrick stopped signing at 710 (I was 708, phew) so you would have got your autograph if you had waited near his queue towards the end of his signing time (which was written on his VQ board). I agree with many of the points made on here, the venue was poor, particularly the lighting, the layout and the lack of comfort zones. The scrum for tickets this morning was madness, by having all the big guests sat together like that it just caused log jams and confusion. It would have made more sense to have the Heroes guests there with a couple of less popular guests and Patrick And Dom round with the other guests where there was more room. Although I understand and am thankful that Hayden, Milo and Adrian stopped personalising and shortened their signatures in order to move through the queue so that as many of us as possible got to meet them, but it could have been avoided with a combination of better scheduling (I know the Milo/Adrian photo shoot was a late addition but 10 past 3 when the show closes at 5 meant they were gone for an hour late in the day, minimizing the amount of time they had to catch up) and also with better communication with the stars, I may be wrong but I don't think Hayden had been told that 0ver 1200 tickets had been given out for her because if she had been I'm sure she would have paced herself better in order to avoid the rush and the hand cramp! However, I'm lucky I got to meet everyone I wanted who was there today and am extremely thankful to Showmasters for hosting what is a great event, to the crew who were always in good spirits and all did there jobs wonderfully and particularly to Jason for persuading Patrick to sign last few

Any chance of getting 2 early birds tickets?
mpharris replied to ellie@lostie's topic in London Film & Comic Con
You can also buy Early Bird tickets on the door, not just standard admission, so she will be able to get in at the same time as you (although she will need to be in a different queue). -

I thoroughly enjoyed my day today, all the guests I met were really nice, it was nice that it wasn't as manic as Collectormania but it was busy enough to give a nice atmosphere and all the crew were relaxed enough to be able to chat. I liked the layout as well, I know it wouldn't be feasible for CM due to the number of stalls but it was great being able to queue without "normal" shoppers pushing past. The only downsides were the no-show for the rugby blokes (I really wanted to meet Matt Dawson as I think he is great on Question Of Sport) and the poor photo selection for the 1966 guys, a few had a limited choice of solo shots, some only had one and then very often they were side on shots, and Roger Hunt had no solo shots. I understand most people were getting team shots signed, but personally if I have such a photo I like everyone on it to sign it, and of course that is sadly no longer possible.

It's more to cover the costs of running the show and the fee for the artist rather than to stop people cashing in on E-bay. Prices will be announced nearer the event, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the artists were only £10.

Any Chance Of Getting Bobby Charlton?
