I did an English degree and we still had things that might appear obvious spelt out. I agree that tutors make assumptions on what they think you should already know. I was taught that language is ever changing and evolving and therefore there is no correct way to do things. As long as the meaning is understood by the person reading then I don't think there is any problem. Language has changed a lot (see what I did there ) since Shakespeare's time. In fact they didn't have standard spellings. Things were spelt phonetically. It's in more recent years that people have started to be so prescriptive about grammar and spelling.

i took my other half to Chester for the weekend. It's his 30th birthday and he is obsessed with frogs. Found out there is a frog hotel just outside of Chester so took him for a surprise. It was so much fun.

when i was a kid i was standing underneath a conker tree. some kids threw a piece of concrete up. i saw it falling towards me, ran and then it hit me. If i'd stayed where i was it would have missed me. The school then called my mum and told her a conker had hit me on the head. me and my sister used to get words mixed up as kids and i went home to my mum talking about the durex dog and my sister announced that octupi have 8 testicles. pretty stupid.

Congratulations! You could get photos of all the guests with the little one and wind them up when they are older- here is you with Nicolas Brendon, Nathan Fillion etc. That might be cool.
