  1. WOOOHOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!! This event is getting interesting , very interesting now !!!!!! It was already before today's announcements, but this one announcement is the clincher for me !! in the words of Mr Burns Exxxccellleenntt
  2. Just finished watching Clerks 2. Would like to meet more of the View Askew cast members already mentioned in this thread.
  3. Jason I'll agree you do run good events, and I've had a lot of pleasure meeting guests at one time I never thought I'd meet. Indeed also , the events have become as much of a social gathering for me as it is meeting guests. But as the events grow, so must the admin/organisation behind the scenes, and it sounds like the majority of decisions / negotiations with guests, is being done by you and you alone. Given the unfortunate circumstances, regarding what happened to you. It sounds like there's too much being done by one person in relation to guests. Hindsight's a wonderful thing and all that, so to paraphrase Star Wars a little, Is there no one to become your apprentice? as whilst you've also said the ME cons are a seperate entity to the events, and those are run by Mark, I suspect you're also at times end up being involved with various aspects of a con weekend? If this is the case, then that means you're sort of involved in having to split your time to organise/ help organise 15 weekends with all the logistics that involves. Or will it be 16 if there are any plans to go back to running a 2nd MK event, as I always thought the CM London was only held due to the stadium being far too cold in the later half of the year. I will continue to support the events, as there's mulitple guests at MK and LFCC I plan on meeting, as well as having our own event North of the Border, and you know how passionate members of that forum can get regarding things !! That's what I think it boils down to, is a lot of people here are as enthusiastic about attending, as you are about running the events. The amount of comments I think shows that. I'm sure this has or will raise some operational issues behind the scenes, and even suspect there will be those who will tell you about how to delegate the work load ! Of course we're not privy to all the details, so no one is right, but given it's a forum, sometimes there might be a comment raised that makes someone else go "hmm, maybe there's something to that comment " Hope you're on the mend, and suspect there's a ready made lynch mob who would like a few words of their own with the ( insert bad word ) who injured you. My two penneth for what it's worth, and whilst I can't be at MK for the full time ( couldn't get holidays ) ,I'll be there at some point depending on trains, meeting guests/ socialising and at that American Food dealer stall !!!
  4. I know I've missed Peter Weller, who apparently has said actors should do at least one signing event, and has declined other invites. Sean Astin hasn't been back. Joe Pantialano (sp) from the matrix. There's 3 all before I knew of the events. I could prob name more.
  5. Jason I got quite vocal earlier I admit, but it is only because I was disappointed in not having an event to go to. I hope I got it across that I will continue to attend the events , as I know what SM are capable of. I can be a bit too blunt and was recently told at my yearly review at work, that even my emails I send to management can be a bit too confrontational and can/have annoyed people. This was not my intention, and will still visit London that weekend as everything is paid for anyway. It's just that Friends and I have so much on this year, between events / cons etc, that by the time you factor in hotel costs/ train tickets/ entry ticket / con tickets/ autograph money/ photoshoot money as well as other commitments. We are planning so far ahead, that every penny counts. So given this cancellation, we just felt we could have saved money for a future event or whatever. But we are making the best of it by going to London anyway. Indeed, I've actually already booked non refundable hotel rooms for CM Glasgow !! Hope that you're on the mend now ( he says not really knowing what to say after previous posts in this thread )
  6. Jason Please please don't announce Vivica as a cancellation !! What a guest !! I don't know what I want her to sign now...
  7. Friends and I had booked hotels and trains for this , and were all sorted. As we've paid out already for travel, it's been decided we'll still go to London for the weekend. It is disappointing, and whilst I commiserate with the behind the scenes issues that were mentioned, It does also seem like more was taken on, that could realistically be handled events/con wise. In the old days, we could book non refundable hotels for events, safe in the knowledge they wouldn't change, but nowadays, we feel we just can't do this any more Don't misunderstand, we will still attend the events, so this is not a dig, more asking SM to see it from the attendees point of view. Maybe if the events are likely to be changed dates/ cancelled, you should consider speaking to hotels in the area of the event and getting an "event rate" which means if the dates do change, we can simply move the booking? I've already booked rooms for the new dates for Glasgow, which are non refundable, so I hope there's no changes with that one !!
  8. I'd like to meet Carrie Fisher again myself. Danielle Harris is not an unrealistic request. Edit: Sorry, although the event was not named I have had to remove the comment as it was too easy to find from what you had put.
  9. Gary Busey Jake Busey Ted Raimi Wil Wheaton Danielle Harris Eric Roberts Tom Sizemore Edit: Sorry, although the event was not named I have had to remove the comment as it was too easy to find from what you had put.
  10. Website working absolutely fine here Virgin Media Firefox beta version Firefox 3.6.13 The only thing I have a problem with is the audio on the video is out of sync... Thought it might have been me, but a friend has confirmed it, seems to start fine, then goes out of sync
  11. I think he'd be a great guest to meet, with the amount of varied work and fanbases he would cover.
  12. Give them time, they'll get it done. One thing they have done though which hasn't been announced here, is they've put the CM Glasgow entry tickets in the online shop already. Along with entry tickets for March CM London, LFCC as well. I plan on getting my various tickets when I get paid next. So whilst I've not seen any communication to say the tickets are on sale, they have at least done that part, even if they've not updated the website. So spread the word, more tickets sold, means they'll start to build up the budget for the event itself, which should then mean more guests will get announced !!
  13. I stayed at the Easyhotel Heathrow for CM London , and would point out a few things to those considering staying at one. You will need to take extra towels, soap/shampoo as only one hand towel and normal towel was in the room. I'd even consider taking a toilet roll just in case. I hope you like your showers cold to lukewarm at best, I turned the shower on and it was stone cold, so thought I'd run it for a bit to let the hot water come through, no joy at all. The room is very basic indeed, and yes, you get what you pay for, there's very little room indeed. I took some pictures, but they don't really show just how small the room actually is , but here goes anyway. The bed is fitted right up against the wall, you can't walk round any side of the bed at all This was taken from the edge of the bed down to the door. However whilst the room was small, I will say it was clean, and warm enough. There is a mirror with a single plug socket, and light, but the light must have been something like a 40watt bulb, it didn't make the slightest bit of difference. So for those who are staying there, don't expect too many amenities, or even hot water ! Take food as well, there's a vending machine and coffee machine, but a bottle of diet coke from the machine was £1.80 !
  14. I just wanted to say that it was great to finally meet Tom Wopat, so thanks for persisting to get him across. I managed to complete 2 cast shots from Dukes Of Hazzard, as well as getting a Smallville auto, and hearing about how it was reuniting with John on set again.
  15. WAHEY !!!! It's been a long wait as others have said !! Will be well worth it !! Thanks for posting this and reassuring all of us !
  16. I think the best way to answer this would be , in certain cases there could be a clause in the appearance contract , stating that for X number of months around their planned appearance with an organiser, they can not appear at any other organiser's event or convention. From what I've seen , it can depend on who the guest is, how much an organiser is willing to spend on that guest, and if the organiser thinks they'll make the money back. I'd also guess that if said guest is happy with the way they've been treated by the organiser, the guest might also decide to stick with that organiser for any appearances. However , all of the above is conjecture on my part, as no organiser is likely to confirm or deny such a thing. I suspect I know why you're asking this.....
  17. 1 Yes there are, No they're not, and there's a Tesco across the road 2. Hand stamp system is usually in operation 3 , Yes there is a cloakroom , or at least there was the last time
  18. Phew, for a minute I thought I'd missed something !!
  19. www.etaphotels.com 2a Springfield Quay G5 8NP GLASGOW UNITED KINGDOM A friend and I stayed here, and found there are bus routes that you can get right to Braehead Shopping Centre. I think the journey time varied depending on what bus operator we got on. Hope this helps.
  20. Braehead is fine as a venue, and is easy enough to get to by public transport links. A friend and I were able to choose from multiple buses that ran direct from Glasgow, as we stayed at the etap hotel, it didn't even take that long on the bus. You can also get there by taking a train to Paisley Central, then getting on a bus to the centre. So it's not really that much of a bugger to get to by public transport.
  21. Less bitching and moaning from all , when after the event we end up singing it's praises Seriously though : More local promotions of home grown films - I'm using Night is Day as an example . Get the event listed on the Braehead website, the date is known, so should be easily done. Get the tickets listed in the online store- more tickets sold now means more money available for the event. How about free entry either an hour or an hour and a half before the event closes for the day? this may entice general visitors to come in and look around, which may then convert to some sales either of autos, or for the dealers? Would then have the possibility of them coming back as paying attendees, speculate to accumulate and all that A How to get there/ where to stay thread being posted and stickied. If someone local could do this and detail either direct buses from Glasgow or even Paisley Train station, this would help a lot I think. Stickied Cosplay thread. Forum members to post guest requests in a single thread, and not start another one How's that for a start ??
  22. I'm afraid I can't actually remember what the general rule of thumb is for children needing a ticket to be in a photoshoot, it could be something like 5 and over will need a ticket, but under 5 you're ok, but don't quote me on that one. There's never a moderator around when you actually do want one That's actually a question that should be considered for addition to the photoshoots section of the website . So in the meantime, I'd merely suggest this time once you've got inside the event, the information booth which is generally where the photoshoot tickets are sold, would be your best bet for advice on your toddler being in the photo. Hope this helps you somewhat, I'm aware it does look like I'm just volunteering others , but I know from experience , that the crew and or those on the info booth, will keep you right .
  23. CM Glasgow is at the moment, a MUCH smaller event than LFCC. So I wouldn't expect to Q for ages to get in. I would think that arriving at 1045 would be ok, but if there looks to be a problem, locate one of the crew members and explain to them, and they should see you right.
